General I hate when people bring up something unrelated to the argument because they genuinely cannot admit they are wrong

Post image
Upvotes

I've made it known that I get absolutely no play to my friends, this is something I've come to terms with and I'm not really bothered when it gets talked about and I get clowned about it.

My problem is when I'm having an argument with someone or doing something competitive with another and I BEAT them in it, and they decide to bring this up even when it's not related to the stuff we're doing.

And I get pissed off not because what they saying is true, like once again, I know I get no girls, that's not a problem, it's just when we're having an argument about somerthing completely different WHY BRING UP YOUR OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS. Like I don't care about you having more girls when we're arguing about who's better at a video game or something.

And then when I confront them about moving the goalpost and ignoring your own arguments, they'll just repeat the same thing and for whatever reason, when I'm in a group of people, they will start hyping up the other dude or start laughing at me as if he just dropped a bombshell or something like what the hell?

I'm 15, so Idk if it's just like mandatory for you to get girls at that age, most mfs I know haven't gotten a girlfriend till their 20's.

And even then I don't even need a girlfriend at this point, I'm broke as balls, got a crap ton of work in all my classes to worry about, not to mention everything you can do with your girlfriend, you can LITERALLY do with your friends (just not romantic stuff). Why is having a girlfriend a top priority right now? To the point that it's unanimously agreed to clown someone if they don't have one.

Relationships in school don't even last long as far as I've seen, I have LEGIT seen a couple get together and break up in the span of a single bus ride.

Yeah this just lowk pissed me off.

Gaming I HATE DIRECTOR AKIKAWA

Post image
Upvotes

WHAT DOES SHE EVEN DO????

I am convinced she only exists to make the player's life hell. If not, I have no idea what she actually does. She's actually doing her job in The Beginning: URA Finale, but then she's just gone in Unity Cup, then she's kind of there in Trackblazer/MANT, then she's not really relevant in Grand Concert.

Yet, you still have to go out of your way to befriend her in Grand Concert to get your Uma's unique skill leveled up, even though she kind of isn't relevant??

'What's that, Trainer? You have triple rainbow speed training? It'll give you 50+ in speed and a shit ton of tokens? TOO BAD! The Fan Fest event is next turn, so you MUST click on level 1 guts training where I am just to get our bond up to green!" - Director Akikawa, probably.

And when you do sacrifice that legendary training just to become besties with Akikawa, what does she give you? 2-5 skill points (it varies based on your bond).

That's it? That's all she can give you? This rich woman comes to watch your Uma give it her all on the training field, then looks at you and basically says "yeah she did pretty good, here's 5 bucks".

Like, sure, Etsuko Otonashi also doesn't give much when you train with her, but it's not necessary to train with her. You can still get a viable Uma for the competitive scene without training with her.

At this point, give Symboli Rudolf or Air Groove her job bro. They do more work than her and they have cooler titles. Like, you can't tell me that being called the Director is cooler than being called Emperor/Empress.

"ohhh but she almost got the school a revolving sushi bar !!!" yeah, ALMOST got the school a revolving sushi bar. It's not "she did" or "she will", it's "she almost did".

(yes I am mainly just salty because I had a run in Umamusume where she didn't level my Uma's unique skill because she refused to be in any good training)

General I hate skin color purists

Upvotes

This is about Talia Al Ghul and Damian Wayne bc someone made a hate post about when they’re drawn with “super dark skin” and it was ridiculous. They complained about them being drawn as darker skinned which felt really racist bc what’s the “right skin color” and why is it always white? There’s no reason they can’t have darker skin.

Genetics work in crazy ways that cannot be predicted. While Talia and Damian may be mixed (Chinese, Arabian— they bout damn change it every couple of years lmao); they could look like anything in fanart. The idea that Talia and Damian have the “right skin” if they’re white— and can’t possibly be brown/tan/dark bc of what they’re mixed with —is ridiculous.

Ra’s is usually depicted as tan/brown skinned unless they’re on a whitewashing brigade (cough cough Liam Neeson and Marion Cotillard in The Dark Knight. Honorable Mention: Nyssa Al Ghul played by Jaime in the Gotham show). It is not farfetched that Talia or Damian could be non-white.

You will never see a white character be confused for Black or Asian, or anything they’re not. You will never see their race and skin color be overwhelmingly dissected and discussed. You will never see people try to breakdown their race (“50% Black, 25% Indian, 25% White). You will never see these unapologetically white characters played by Asians in live action bc “Asians sometimes look white and white sometimes look Asians.”

But I’ll bet my LIFE SAVINGS that any character that’s non-white— and god forbid they be mixed —will always be dissected over their skin color, ethnicity, and race. If they’re mixed and look anything remotely resembling white…….? You can bet they’ll probably be played by a white person in live action. Sometimes, they don’t even have to be mixed, but it’s easier when they are. Dragon Ball Z, Nyssa Al Ghul, Ghost in The Shell, Gods of Egypt, Talia Al Ghul, Doctor Strange, etc. Every fucking time.

It’s harder to cast white people as Black and Brown characters so what do they do? They cast racially ambiguous and light-skinned people to play those characters. It’s still whitewashing bc they’re lightening the skin to resemble white, btw. I just thought that person’s post was funny and I hated their reaction.

And I hated their post bc for as much as “drawing Damian as brown skinned is denying the existence of pale Arabs,” they were just doing the same thing to mixed people…? Just bc someone is mixed with “lighter / pale skinned races/etc” DOES NOT MEAN they will always come out light skinned. Like I said, genetics are weird.

There are real life mixed race children— as in one looks fully white and the other looks fully Black. There are monoracial Black couples who have children and one can come out dark as obsidian and the other lightskinned. There are monoracial white couples where the kid gets features that neither parent has, but an ancestor did. Genetics are weird.

Thing I HATE TAX MISINFORMATION

Post image
Upvotes

Username censored for rule one compliance. Mods, if I need to remove the screenshot and put up a different image then let me know and I'm happy to. This is not directed at an individual, but at a general trend that I've noticed which upsets and frustrates me to the furthest extent. No hate directly to the individual depicted, but full hate towards the action of perpetuating misinformation. With that out of the way.

GOD I HATE TAX MISINFORMATION SO FUCKING MUCH OH MY GOD.

I hate how people feel entitled to speak on subjects on which they are not educated. I ESPECIALLY hate when people do this specifically to dissuade people from DONATING TO FUCKING CHARITY.

For those who haven't had the displeasure of interacting with these uneducated liars, there's a group of troglodytes who run around claiming that companies like McDonald's and Taco Bell take the money you donate to charity through their convenience options (mobile app, donation box at cashier, etc.) and use it as a "write off" on their own taxes to save them money. This is objectively false. The tax code in the United States is complicated, sure, but this part of it isn't. It's very fucking simple. If money doesn't go into your pocket, you can't "write it off" when it leaves your pocket, because IT WASN'T THERE.

In order for a company to DEDUCT (so help me fucking God if I hear the phrase "write off" ONE MORE FUCKING TIME--IT'S CALLED A DEDUCTION) an amount of money, they must first RECEIVE the money. Meaning that if you donated $1.00 through the charity option on Taco Bell's mobile app, they would first need to increase revenue by $1.00, then they could mark it as an expense of $1.00 on line 19 of form 1120. Meaning that it would have a NET ZERO IMPACT ON TAX LIABILITY.

To anyone out there who loves to speak on topics they know nothing about: accounting, like medicine and law, is a professional field requiring a license to practice--in the case of accountants, the CPA license. If you are not educated and licensed in a professional field, DON'T TRY TO COMMENT ON IT. And ESPECIALLY don't do it when your objective is to prevent people from DONATING TO CHARITIES.

Thing I hate social media.

Upvotes

I'm not gonna make this a long rant, but I dislike what social media has become. There are many benefits, during covid it was a great time to meet people. It helps connects people to understand real social issues.

But in that sense it has done vice versa. People are starting to rely on online friends, and get too comfortable behind the screens. Slurs, hateful language, and overall just bullying has become common nowadays in some social media places.

One of the main cases is Lindsay Clancy. It showed a sense of un unnecessary divisiveness. I won't stay long about the case, but it's depressing. I don't care about your opinions, not because I don't care, because it starts this very heated debates.

Whether or not you agree or disagree with some of the actions, it should be discussed in a mature nuanced stance. Social media warrants outrage and fighting.

Look at tiktok, the most liked comments are usually insults. A popular thing they are doing, seeing someone make a controversial comment then saying "Let's send this person some love." in an obvious sarcastic tone.

Harassment for people who disagree with opinions, and no this isn't always just hate speech. Someone made a comment saying they support Lindsay and got harassment and hate. That's insane for such a nuanced case.

Whether or not it has positive impacts. It is seemingly growing worse as people become more politically divided. This is more about American social media, cannot say the same for the rest of the world.

Edit: Yes I am a hypocrite because I use it.

No, but the worst thing is Jex's jokes. This guy is the sex man and I hate him.

definitely the joke of this show in my opinion is its worst aspect.

So your telling me I have to fake a order to just view a menu and figure out what I want to eat.

I HATE when corporations do this, or they post a shitty ass menu image taken from a crappy iphone.

I'm not calling out any corporation in specific, but all of them do this. I don't know if its to make people want to order their food or what.

Please lord just let me look at a damn menu without forcing me to put in my location.

Sorry if this is the wrong tag by the way.

Thing I hate dumbass trending phrases.

Post image
Upvotes

So I’m sure that maybe you guys have heard the new phrase “Quiet on the Creek” which is basically 67 all over again. And the way I first heard about this phrase because my cousin who’s so the Internet just kept saying “quiet on the creek“. I have no idea where these phrases just emerge from and then I find out it’s from some Bible video or some sort of rapper celebrity said something and I’m just not aware of it and then suddenly everyone is saying it and it’s repetitive too. Thing is, some of the people saying this shit don’t know the original meaning behind it and are just saying it because it’s popular.

Gaming Comformity and blind consumerism are ruining the Gaming Industry

Post image

From the "protests" having very forceable deadlines to pre-ordering games without actually seeing any footage or physical copies for no reason other than to play 3 months earlier to buying what is essencially a port of a 20+ something year old game that costs just as much if not more somehow; It just feels like these people are willing to go far & beyond to blindly support and allow these companies to facefuck them as long as it means having more ways of playing with their childhood characters, and then crying online & victimizing themselves over other people not agreeing or supporting it (and no, it's not just a Goomba Fallacy. A lot of people actually do this)

As well as the people outright dodging these issues by saying things like "Well THIS unrelated company does that to a slightly meaner degree and I don't see YOU complaining about" as if multiple things couldn't be true at once. It leads to nothing other than meaningless bickering

Voting with your wallets isn't a viable response anymore, and it's all due to blind trust

Language when people think gay and queer are interchangeable terms

i saw a post pointing out, very correctly so, that the rainbow flag isnt the gay flage. And yeah i see people call it the gay flag and it really annoys me as well. But then... SO MANY comments confidently incorrectly saying "well gay is an umbrella term" "im not gonna say lgbtq i just say gay" (the word queer literally exists) and like, no?? asexual people? bisexual people? trans straight people? this is so stupid on so many levels. Please inform yourself pr just dont speak.

General The overhated use of AI

Nowadays, AI is everywhere. Some of it is bad, but some of it is useful. The whole water usage part rubs me the wrong way, and I hate when it is used for slop or misinformation to gain views, but there are many other things that are bad for the world that we choose to do as humans too, yet nobody ever talks about them.

If I want to use AI, I should not be harassed and told I'm a horrible person for using it. I also don't appreciate people who openly say all AI users are bad people and/or stupid or talentless. That just isn't the case, AI helps people like myself who has no physical creativity to create something out of an idea. People act like making a song on SUNO for fun or asking ChatGPT to generate a funny picture of trump wearing a dunce hat is a terrible sin.

I'm sure most people will disagree with me, but that kind of proves my point. AI is overhated and should only be hated when it is used for malicious purposes. Nuff said.

Animation I hate the current state of Avatar and its downfall

Post image
50 Upvotes

Watching the original show as a kid was something special and to see the current state of it with live action slop (2nd time) and cancelled projects makes me a little sad. Seeing how earlier this year the whole ass movie about Aang got leaked in 4k was genuinely crazy when we haven't even gotten a trailer at the time the whole thing really put a stain on it and I can't help but feel bad for the people who worked on it. The cherry on top is the reasoning for the Zuko movie getting cancelled and that was because they wanted to stray away from anything too political which makes no sense but I can't be too surprised because these bums have probably never even seen the show lol.

I just view it as conservatives and puritans trying to get their boot in the door so they can ban more lgbt spaces.

My personal opinion is that if a fictional work has not harmed anyone in its production and that any non authorial material in the work has been consensually given then it should not be censored.

Edit: As of the 🔒 award being given the post has a ratio of 80.2%. Thank you all for coming to discuss.

it feels like every time indie animation is brought up these exact 4 shows are brought up everytime and its getting annoying.
like you claim to be an indie animation super fan and only know 4 projects

theres so many projects that are barley talked about like monkey wrench, zipped up, spooky month (well maybe people do talk about that but only during october)hell even the gaslight district

TLDR: i think these 4 shows get too much attention and should not be the only ones talked about when talking indie animation

Thing I hate the fear mongering about animals in media

I’ll address this in 3 short segments 1 about the big shows 2 about youtube and 3 a general rhetoric around extinct animals

1 shark week

This is the one i know most about but there are others like animal planet that im sure do the same

Shark week used to be good hit at some point they switched to making sharks out to be blood thirsty killing machines

And don’t get me wrong sharks can and although rarely will kill you

But for one they aren’t simple creatures its not like animals just have 3 thoughts hunt drink sleep

They can even grow partner ships with you if you’ve known them for a long time and thats because we are animals

Any behavior we exhibit generally can be cast in a simpler manner onto other creatures that are also smart

And so painting these amazing creatures as nothing but a bunch of ted bundys personally offends me

Not to forget that sharks rarely very very rarely ever attack humans and its almost never because of hunting reason

2 the youtubers

the natural life and natural history youtubers are generally great my favorites are paleo analysis tier zoo clints reptiles and lindsey nicole and im sure ive missed one or 2

And idk his name bc I blocked him but clint made a reaction video to him and hes way nicer than me bc this dude lies about animals and does what shark week does but for every animal

Other than megalodon atleast shark week isnt a serial liar as far as i know

The dudes vids are poorly researched clearly manipulated to fear monger about animals to boost engagement

And i hate it when youtubers affect information and views about things negatively to boost engagement

3 the “im glad this thing is extinct” shit

I hate that so much because every animal even the dumbest exhibits interesting behavior plus only ever kills in acts of survival like food and defense

And ive always wondered what extinct animals were behaving like and again painting them as kill machines is personally offensive to me

Ik this is all over the place but its just a rant and i think you’ve got the point by now that animals aren’t irl fantasy monsters they are just like us and arguably we deserve the title of monster more thsn animals because like 90% of animals are never malicious

Anime & Manga Bringing anime to the west was a mistake

Post image
0 Upvotes

Look, I’m going to say what nobody wants to hear: bringing anime to the West was a catastrophic mistake.

It started innocently enough. Someone showed a kid Pokémon. Harmless, right? Cute little creatures, colorful adventures, Pikachu yelling his own name. What could possibly go wrong?

Everything.

Because apparently that wasn’t enough. No, we had to keep going. Dragon Ball Z arrived and suddenly every child in America was standing in their backyard screaming “IT’S OVER 9000!” while attempting to summon an energy attack through sheer childhood determination.

Then came the next stage of the disaster: people discovered that anime could be serious.

Suddenly, cartoons weren’t just cartoons anymore. Someone would casually recommend a 47-episode Japanese series and say, “You have to get through the first twelve episodes. That’s when it gets good.”

TWELVE EPISODES?

I could watch an entire trilogy in that amount of time.

And then the conventions happened.

We somehow reached a point where grown adults would spend an entire weekend dressed as characters with neon hair, giant swords, and outfits that appear to have been designed by someone who had never encountered the concept of functional clothing. And honestly? The confidence is almost admirable.

But the worst consequence is what anime did to the vocabulary.

Suddenly people were saying “senpai,” “kawaii,” “baka,” and “nani?” in completely unrelated conversations. Someone drops a pencil and there's a 40% chance somebody nearby whispers, “Nani?!”

Why are we doing this?

And don’t even get me started on opening themes. Anime fans will skip through a three-minute recap of events they literally watched five minutes ago, only to sit through the same opening song for the eighth consecutive episode because “you can’t skip it.”

Yes. You can.

There is a button.

Press it.

Of course, none of this would matter if anime hadn't evolved into an entire personality for some people. You don't just “watch anime” anymore. You have a favorite studio, a favorite arc, a favorite opening, a 900-character ranking of fictional people, and an opinion about subtitles versus dubs that you're prepared to defend like you're arguing before the Supreme Court.

And somehow, despite all this, I have to admit something deeply uncomfortable:

Anime is actually pretty good.

That’s the real problem.

Because once you start watching it, you realize there are genuinely incredible stories, gorgeous animation, unforgettable characters, and ideas that live-action Hollywood wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.

So here we are.

We brought anime to the West expecting some harmless cartoons from Japan, and instead we created an entire cultural ecosystem of conventions, memes, cosplayers, arguments about power scaling, people learning Japanese, and adults emotionally devastated by fictional teenagers.

Was it a mistake?

Absolutely.

Would I undo it?

...No.

But I reserve the right to complain about it anyway.

Thing I hate calling women slurs designed for women.

I hate all slurs in general, but with how common words like Bitch, Cunt, Hoe, Whore, Skank, and Slut are, I just feel like the world doesn’t gaf.

As a cisgender straight man, a can’t help but feel disgusted whenever they’re used. Woman don’t get a lot to do in life. I know that gender struggles do in fact go both ways in different forms and it varies how much sexism you can face depending on the people you encounter, which is why it’s best to be virtuous and not assume that people don’t feel like they face sexism.

But if you really think about it, women have to deal with a lot of bullshit. I don’t wanna sound like I’m virtue signaling or anything, but the period cramp and birth pains are objectively painful struggles (which the latter also permanently changes their brain chemistry). They sacrifice so much in life and work diligently hard, so I feel like calling them these kinds of names is kind of misogynistic.

Even if they get called one of these because the person thinks that they deserve this type of treatment, it feels a bit wrong in my eyes. Being able to use them so freely doesn’t seem like something I should be able to do if I want to respect women. I feel like a more appropriate thing to do would be also calling a man the same thing if they commit the same transgression, or just call the women who supposedly deserves it a label that is more gender neutral. As a guy, calling a woman a bitch just feels like I’m telling her to know her place or something like that. It doesn’t feel like something I should say if I view them as my equal.

Maybe I just feel this way because of how many times Incels have used these words in disgusting contexts and that might’ve led me to associate these words with those instances. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Thing I Hate it when people edit their comments to act like they didn't do anything wrong to make other people look bad

Thumbnail

(Before I explain everything, I'm gonna say this here. This is a repost because someone told me that you have to censor out the names of the people you're talking about. I also didn't copy the text of the original reply, so everything written here is a rough retelling based on what it said with some changes. If there's any other rules i might've broken, please tell me.)

The second image is the post the comment was on.

So basically what happened is there's this trend that's going on in the Zenless Zone Zero fandom. It's a genderbent version of Jane Doe that people call John Doe.

What the comment originally said was, "A lot of people in this sub are homophobic and are pissed at this trend", I don't remember it directly, but it was similar to that. I then said that people that are homophobic can cry all they want about trend, but I questioned him about the homophobia part, because the ZZZ fandom is very Yuri heavy, so him saying that the sub was homophobic didn't make sense.

He then replied back by saying, "Is my spelling wrong", as seen in the first image, I then replied saying "no" then explained what homophobia actually means and told him that the sub is filled with yuri shippers, so how is it homophobic. Then he replied saying, "Everyone loves Yuri after all", and in my head I'm like exactly, so how is the sub homophobic, and that's when I noticed, he edited his comment to say "a lot of people here are pissed about this trend", he edited his comment to make me look like an asshole (at least, it seems that way, can't fully confirm).

This is my first post on the hatethissmug sub reddit. Looking back at the first image, I could've said infinitely better things. "My guy" is a bit aggressive even if I was trying to get a point across. Should've specified homophobes in my first reply, let them cry about homosexual stuff. And finally, I'm not actually 100% sure if this guy was trying to make me look bad or if he was actually trying to fix his comment, like I said in the last paragraph.

Overall, I more so made this post just to say that I hate it when people edit their comment to make others, not just me, who reply to them look bad or look like an asshole. I have seen this happen quite a few times to other people, and it really annoys me.

(This is my second repost, apparently you need to censor ALL usernames, including your own. So I did that, i even censored the pfps. This is gonna be the last repost i do, if this one gets removed, then I'll stop trying to repost it.)

Meta I hate when youtube videos are 60 FPS for no reason

Post image

I hate when I'm watching a NON GAMING youtube video and the video author has decided my laptop battery needs to die 2X as fast while watching their video because their PNGs just NEEDED to be displayed at 60 FPS.
this can range from comic videos to 2 hour lore videos to IRL construction project type content, there's no real consistency to when unneeded 60 FPS videos pop up in my feed and it greatly annoys me because I often watch videos on battery and it's just unnecessary drain on my battery life.

Comics Jean Grey is BECOMING MJ/being pushed to be "insert Spidey Love interest" 2.0 Because of BND, and I genuinely DON'T really understand why

Thumbnail
gallery
174 Upvotes

ONE of the biggest reasons I dislike and almost DESPISE the Peter/Jean pairing isn't simply because “Scott and Jean are a better couple.”which I could give multiple reasons in favor of,but Naaaah, It's that a LOT of the fanon surrounding Peter/Jean seems to require Jean Grey to become a COMPLETLY.DIFFERENT.CHARACTER.

Look at the fanarts.

1-Put Jean in Peter's Spider-Man suit. 2-Put MJ in Peter's Spider-Man suit. 3-Change the hair a little bit, or not even that...and suddenly the visual distinction between the two becomes almost entirely superficial.

And that's exactly what bothers me,Jean is not supposed to be “the new redheaded love interest for Spider-Man.”, because She isn't MJ with telepathy NOR a premium replacement for MJ because Peter/MJ's relationship is currently (and has been)for most, an embarassement in the comics.

She isn't “the redhead who understands Peter better.” either, she literally SA'ed him in the movie(which some people got a kick of I guess) and put people he loved at risk,at the end of the movie the takeaway should be that she is at stake 0 to become actually decent, not that she is ready to get a new BOYTOY,which, previously thanks to her reckless behavior btw,LED TO HIM GETTING SHOT!

She's Jean fucking Grey.

Jean has an enormous identity and mythology COMPLETLY independent of Spider-Man. this isnt an obscure fact, people should know this even from the DISASTROUS romantic triangles with hugh jackman movies (Wolverine),cartoons, etc as a whole.

Maybe they dont, but the thing is that She's originally one of the central characters of the X-Men, a telepath and telekinetic, a Phoenix host, a mutant dealing with constant persecution and existential threats, a teacher, a leader, a mother, and someone whose life is deeply intertwined with Scott Summers and the entire history of the X-Men.

And yet, in a lot of Peter/Jean fanart, heres what happens to all of that:

-Peter saves/comforts Jean while Jean somehow completly understands Peter.

-Jean wears Peter's suit(which I can understand for fanarts whatever)

But then she just becomes Peter's superpowered redheaded girlfriend...

At some point, what exactly is left that makes this Jean Grey rather than “MJ, but she's,more dependent on someone else somehow, and a mutant”???

That's my biggest problem with the pairing.

And the Scott issue makes this even worse

Scott isn't some random ex-boyfriend who happens to be inconvenient piece to the ship.

Jean and Scott have literal decades of SHARED history. They're teammates, leaders, family, parents, and have gone through some absolutely batshit insane stuff together. Their relationship is pratically woven into the mythology of the X-MEN itself.

Remove Scott from Peter's story and obviously Peter Parker is still fundamentally Peter Parker.

Remove Scott from Jean's story and you're literally removing an enormous structural component of who Jean is.

Peter doesn't need Jean to be Spider-Man,sure, Jean also doesn't need Scott to possess an identity either, obviously, but pretending Scott can simply be REPLACED by Peter without fundamentally changing Jean's character is ridiculous.

And that's where the “MJ 2.0” feeling comes from.

Peter/Jean fanon frequently doesn't expand Peter's world by introducing him to Jean Grey's world.

It takes Jean Grey and moves her into Peter Parker's world, like any other spider man fantasy, the female characters are just add-ons to Peter, and instead of them having something that was much more understandeable as a mentorship,it became seen as unecessary romance and the actual "ideal outcome" between characters that literally have no reason to follow that path.

Instead of Peter having to enter the X-Men's world, understand mutant politics, understand Jean's responsibilities, understand her history with Scott, her family, the Phoenix, her complicated relationship with power and responsibility, etc.(Which tbh would thankfully never happen),even in scenarios with context from the comics people have Jean simply becoming another person orbiting SpiderMan.

Another thing is that this Spider man fantasy of saving her is especially bizarre.

Jean has spent decades dealing with powers that are vastly more dangerous and psychologically complicated than ANYTHING Peter could possibly “teach” her how to handle.

She doesn't need Spider-Man to rescue her from herself.

She doesn't need a man to make her powers manageable.

She DOESN'T NEED Peter to give her "purpose".

If anything, the interesting question would be what Peter would have to learn from Jean.

But that's rarely what the fanon actually focuses on.

The ship's internal logic is as complex as the critical thinking behind it:

So once again, Jean's enormous character history gets reduced to “powerful redhead who needs Spider-Man.”

Yeah, That's not Jean Grey, but she really seems like She's being cast in the MJ role.

And that's precisely why the “Jean Grey + Spider-Man suit” fanarts are so revealing.

Because when you strip away the X-Men costume, the Phoenix mythology, Scott, Rachel, Cable, the mutant experience, the X-Men, etc., what are you left with?

Another redheaded woman standing next to Spider-Man.

Jean Grey should not have to become Spider-Man's next MJ to justify her existence in his story, and frankly, I find the idea that there seem to be fans who are dissatisfied with Peter/MJ and therefore immediately start looking for another iconic redhead to slot into Peter's romantic life incredibly reductive.

Jean Grey deserves better than being somebody's MJ replacement.
