Food & Cooking Its not fun eating out anymore

I can still afford my food and tipping.

I just dont want to anymore. The food suck.s and the price isnt fair.. I could afford eating out for 40 Euro every day but it hurts everytime.

Not cause Im broke. Because its not worth the price and the experience is mediocre.

I hate that I cook better than most Restaurants and Im not even a cook.

I would be better off cooking myself and paying someone to clean my kitchen for 20€ and save my money.

Im so lazy I atill buy the mediocre service and cant escape this life style.

Just bought a burger for 15 Dollars I ate it, was bad and my burgers are better and cheaper

Career study 20 years to end up unemployed?

I'm not getting it, how we have to waste 20 years of life dedicated purely to school n colleges starting from 3 year of age, just to get ready for job market and you see 5 million people applying on 1 job with minimum wage, what's the point of life atp?

they used to say just finish your degree and you will get a job, then they started saying develop skills, then get experience, the fkn experienced ones are getting laid off too. now they are saying networking is everything. I don't understand the point of life when you can't even afford it?

how da hell am I going to get experience if no one is ready to give an internship? how am I supposed to do hard work when there is no work at all.

Health & Fitness Is my body too far damaged?

I'm 16 and ever since 6th grade until 11th I sit down for almost 20 hours a day due to school, car riding, after school (i play games a lot and I don't go to sleep normally until 11pm-1am). This has been consistent for 5 years, I would have expected to be fat and chubby since i dont do sports but for some reason im still super lean. Besides that, I stare at computer screen for over 15 hours a day, and my eyes feel horrible! My back is starting to hurt, my wrists tingle, i'm always tired during the day, and I definitely feel a lot weaker than before... is it possible for me to turn my life around? If anyone has any ideas, please let me know, I'm down to listen

Need Advice What’s something you would tell yourself at 30?

I’m turning 30 later this week. I’m taking a trip with a friend to celebrate. My 20s have been…..full. Good, toxic, everything in between. What is something I should reflect on as 30 approaches? Something you wish you would’ve known when turning 30?

Let's discuss Ever realize people don’t like hearing the truth?

Ever realize how when you tell people the truth you’re either labeled as “ crazy” or people say that you have a negative mindset and if not that they get upset with you? Another example of this is I found a post that said “ in 100 years we Will all be buried with our friends and family” so i posted it with the title “ sad but true “ and people were downvoting my post and it had no upvotes despite the fact that in 100 years from now 2126 we’ll all be buried in the dirt. I don’t understand why people can’t just accept the truth. In the past I’ve had people tell me I have a negative mindset for telling the truth. It’s not having a negative mindset when it’s actually the truth

Let's discuss Anyone manage to build a drama free life?

So recently I got a glimpse of what life would be like drama free.

I'm talking about no drama, no weird egos or insecurities, no people starting stuff, no people trying to get random attention, no people being needy, just like normal conversations, no one is trying to get a reaction out of you, no toxic stuff, literally just work, life, cordialness and it's literally the best and most liberating feeling ever.

And now I'm hooked. Like I don't think I can go back. My mind is so clear at ease and peaceful. I get to be nice and kind and just talk like a normal persons. I can talk about preferences or set boundaries without someone being weird. I can be helpful when needed.

But I know this is not real life. Just look at the news.

I went to a birthday party this past weekend and while the guy who's birthday it was is chill and drama free, some guests once you start talking there were some dynamics I just wanted to avoid.

I get my post may come off a bit judgy but it's not my intention. It's jsut hard to describe something or a preference without coming off that way. If you feel it and know what I"m talking about, I think you'd get what I mean

Anyone manage to construct a life that is drama free and chill? And how did you do it? I know more money and I can do it, but money could also mean tied to certain things that are not drama free so, I feel like it takes some skill and foresight.

Legal & Domestic Issues Everyone around me has been so kind (!)

Upvotes

Hello everyone! It’s late at night, and my chest feels heavy. I want to take some of that weight off by sharing my pathetic life story with you.

Do you know how my life started? My earliest memory is of seeing my mother being beaten badly by my father. She used to bleed from her nose. She once showed me the bloodstains. That is my first-ever memory of life.

It’s not that everything was bad. There were good things as well, especially my brother, who was one year older than me and also my best friend. We used to roam around the area, catching grasshoppers and butterflies. We tried to make them our pets but couldn’t. We played strange games together. Some days we were spies, other days we were goons, and sometimes we were shopkeepers. We were everything. We were happy in our own little world. We just tried to fall asleep early so that we wouldn’t have to encounter our father or see our mother getting beaten. Days passed like this.

Then one day, puberty hit, and everything became different. I remained calm, as I had always been, but my brother changed. He became violent, stubborn, and disrespectful toward everyone. My father fell in line, but my brother took over. He didn’t hesitate to push our parents on some occasions, and I witnessed everything. I continued to encounter abuse, but this time it was different because I no longer had any source of happiness. My friends were there, but I never shared anything with them. They were simply my getaway.

The days passed, and my brother’s violence continued. I desperately wanted it to end somehow, and then God finally listened to me. My brother died by suicide.

Grief surrounded me, but strangely, I also felt relieved. After all those years, I was finally happy. My father no longer abused my mother. No one was violent around me anymore. A peaceful, happy space, right?

Oh no. Wait.

My brother left an empty space in my life, and I was desperate to fill it. I was naive and chose someone immature to share my grief with. Eventually, I started loving him because, subconsciously, I saw in him the same violence I had grown up witnessing. It wasn’t a conscious choice. It was something beyond my control.

That guy subjected me to every kind of torture except physical violence, and the absence of physical violence was enough to convince me to tolerate everything else. Eventually, I married him.

I have been living with him for more than a year now, and my parents are not allowed to visit me. There is no reason for it. They did nothing to him except love him. He wants to isolate me from everyone else, and preventing my parents from visiting me is part of that.

My heart aches. My soul is giving up.

I feel that I cannot divorce him because I want a child, and my biological clock is ticking. I don’t love this man anymore, but I feel shackled. If I let my parents come to my own house, he gives me the silent treatment. It takes me back to my childhood and reminds me of all those old days.

I wanted peace, and God gave me that peace by taking my brother away. But this time, I guess even God is tired.

Positive I spent five years in the puddle. I think it's time to swim.

Most of us have probably come across this picture of the fish struggling her way to the ocean. I never knew I'd reach a point in life where I could relate to it so deeply.

I recently received a great job offer. But taking it meant changing the life I'd grown accustomed to over the past five years.

Sure, a lot of resistance surfaced. Concerns that had never crossed my mind before, even though I had been desperately praying for a better life all these years. And just for the record, it was my first job after graduation.

After two weeks of delay, I finally accepted the offer—or rather, my brother forced me into it. And here I am, typing this to share with the world because I think this moment deserves some importance.

I joined a firm five years ago, and it was a completely remote job. Since the work wasn't too hectic, it gave me the mental space to pick up new hobbies and revisit old ones—things I had never done before because of a busy schedule or simply a lack of courage. Living with my parents and having very few friends, our lives became intertwined in ways I never saw coming.

By now, you probably have the bigger picture of why this wasn't an easy decision. I forgot to mention that the new job follows a hybrid model, which means I have to move to a new city and dismantle the entire setup I've built over the past five years.

This one event forced me to realize something about life and about myself: a comfort zone is actually a double-edged sword.

I say this because a comfort zone gives you a level of mental peace and the space to try low-risk things without disturbing your current setup. But it's also dangerous because, at some point, you may only want to try low-risk things—or even choose to bedrot instead of growing.

In life, because of our conditioning or external circumstances, we may end up in a puddle, just like the fish in the picture. While the fish is there, two things can happen over time. The fish can trust herself, believe she deserves a better life, struggle to find a way forward, and eventually reach the ocean. Or she can go with the flow, spend each day just like the last, let external voices dim her self-worth, lose her spark, and end up spending her entire life in the puddle while dreaming about the ocean.

There's also a third scenario—the one we call luck—where a huge wave carries the fish from the puddle to the ocean. But in the end, survival still depends on mindset. You might get the initial push, but to sustain that growth, you have to change your inner core. As we all know, overnight success isn't that common.

I'm as excited to start this new chapter as I am scared. But one thing I'm truly proud of is that I chose to make a bigger, better change in my life—to experience life through a different lens.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this :)

PS: I found this picture on Google.

Self improvement I think that I may have some kind of a learning disability?

I don't know exactly how to describe it but basically I have terrible long term memory. I have barely any memories from my childhood. I have mainly attributed this to the environment I was raised in while also being undiagnosed as neurodivergent. I experienced a lot of mental and emotional trauma at home but I did well in school. I was always on the honor roll and I can count on one hand how many times I got in trouble with my teachers - mainly because I knew my mom would punish me and make my life hell if I did not do well and behave.

But now as an adult well into my thirties I have noticed attributes about myself that make me really sad and almost disappointed in myself. I can watch every season of a show and enjoy it thoroughly only to not remember a single character's name a year later. I can describe the show's plot perfectly fine but everything else seems to fall out of my brain. I used to be obsessed with a video game with over 200 hours of game play but if you asked me what the names of five characters were, I think I'd struggle greatly to come up with them. I completed numerous biology and chemistry courses in college and wouldn't be able to tell you a single thing about most of that now. Even well known shows on Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, etc. that I watched daily as a kid I struggle to recall details of while other people my age with the same exposure recall details fine.

This is mainly embarrassing for me when I'm in social settings when something I've seen or played is brought up only for me to feel like a phony / not a real fan for not remembering main aspects about them.

I don't know what the usual case for people is in regards to retaining information. For me it seems that if it isn't constantly in my life or something i just experienced, it gets thrown away.

I wish I could figure out why or how I am this way. But mainly I wish I could remember things better I guess so that I felt less out of the loop.

Anyways, thank you for reading.

Need Advice Curiosity peaking

Upvotes

So I have been dealing with something for well over 20 years now, im 31 about to be 32 in 3 weeks just to clear that gap.

The thing I've been dealing with all these years is that about every moment of the day I catch myself constantly holding my breath. Now to clarify I dont so this as some like sexual deal or whatever, no, back when I was younger I was chillin in my room standing up watching a movie and for a moment I start holding my breath, I keep going til Im about to pass out.. Im lightheaded, room goes dark, I cant tell what's real or fake all in a matter of seconds, then next thing I know im in the door to the hallway...

Now I dont know if this is where it sounds weird but even though I could've hurt myself really bad that day and it probably does a lot of damage to my brain, I still notice myself doing it even when im not thinking about it, it just happens. Now my question is. Is there anyone out there who does the exact same thing? If so, I have alot of other questions leading this ask

Let's discuss That Last Moment, Sight or Act you would do prior to death (Question)

If yall were near death, and provided a chance either to Visit, Do a Final Act, and or See prior to the hospital stay or maybe be able to have short leave from the hospital, What would yall do with your remained lifetime left? Assuming either yall had a Bucket List or Not. I'm not a religious type but i am Protestant Christian, Who lived up to this point a Flawed yet Humbled life and I;m open to any Afterlife either Traditional Heaven or Hell, Nirvana or Reincarnation albeit discouraged among chrisitans to believe anything beside traditional Heaven/Hell structure. My answer to my own question is that I would want to visit and witness the true beauty of a National Park, I don't care which one, I Just want to Hear Pure Nature on earth one Last time.

(Keep in Mind, A true last sight to see prior to death would hopefully do what little time left be with yall family, What this question im trying to imply is the Second best thing yall want.)

<My Dad had died Last year by Final Stages of Liver Cancer, and the last film we watch was Jurassic Park Rebirth, his sickness remained silent many years till it hit unexpectedly, we were told its Cancer, He did one round of Chemo despite Medical experts say its only extends a couple weeks to live. I remember the very last time he ever walked in our home, Ive always wonder the mind of a Terminally Ill person as they see whats most likely the last time they see, Honestly if i were in his postion i would become sentimental with ordinary items at the home like a TV remote I watch TV with, My Headset where i use to talk with friends while on Minecraft and that one ugly statue i have in my home kitchen. Its the Realization that it probably be your last time ever using a particular item. Yeah that compelled me to type this, wanted yall take>

Self improvement For the first time in my life, I have started to feel emotions

Not really sure which flair is right here. I just want to write about my experience and hear thoughts from you guys about it.

TLDR: I never used to feel emotions, but after leaving an abusive relationship and going to therapy I feel so much.

I was in a super stressful, abusive relationship for a long time and also had a stressful and abusive childhood. I met my ex in my mid-late teens and we were together over 10 years so there was never a time without stress or tension until we broke up.

I only ever really felt anger or stress as emotions. Or maybe I just felt okay. Sometimes happy if I was in my element doing my hobbies or at a gig or something, but the happiness only came when I was completely switched off. One thing I rarely felt was sadness.

I never felt sad for other people. I think some of it was empathy fatigue. My ex had a big victim mentality so I was constantly validating her feelings. I think a lot of my validation was fake or performative, I was behaving that way to calm her down, I didn't always think she was right or that there was a real injustice against her.

Anyway, we broke up a few years ago. Started therapy this year. Over the past few months something has really changed. I feel a large range of emotions now. Some of them are positive, some a negative, but I really feel them.

My friend reached out to me today and it nearly made me cry because his situation is so bad. Before therapy, in my adult life, I probably cried less than 10 times. Normally when people died. I'm not exactly a sobbing mess but when I see tragic situations now I feel them in my heart, in the past I would just observe it as an unfortunate event.

Now when I see attractive people I notice and appreciate that they're beautiful. When I see a sunset I appreciate it. I can recognise and communicate when I am feeling stressed or angry. I did my first road trip a few months ago and I think for the first time ever I felt genuine euphoria. My cup felt full.

It feels like my emotions are now in high definition, like when you get new glasses and the world is just vivid again. But it's my mind, heart and sould that's vivid.

I think this is good. It's interesting processing the change in my thought patterns. I am free from control, and now my mind is free to experience the full range of emotions.

Self improvement What do you do with the thoughts you cannot say out loud?

I have often wondered how many of us carry thoughts that we never share with anyone.

They may be about someone we miss, something we regret, a relationship that changed us, or simply a feeling we cannot properly explain.

After losing my father and experiencing anxiety, my therapist suggested writing down every thought, including the uncomfortable and irrational ones.
Writing did not solve everything, but it gave those thoughts somewhere else to exist besides my mind.
It made me curious about how other people handle these moments.

Do you write your thoughts down, speak to someone, keep them inside, or have another way of letting them go?

This experience inspired me to build a small project called Little Bench Project, where people can anonymously write what they are carrying and leave it somewhere for a while.
I would genuinely appreciate your thoughts on the idea:

Career Regretting that I ever told my parents about my job and salary

My dad basically told me I'm on my own financially the moment I got a job, and I'm honestly devastated

I’m a college student and I recently got a job. It hasn’t started yet.

I’m not very close with my parents, especially my dad. It wasn’t always like this, of course. But sometime after I became a teenager, my dad started distancing himself from me completely. There was even an entire year where we basically didn’t look at each other or speak. We used to fight and disagree constantly, but most of that is in the past now that I’m in my 20s.

Because of all of this, it has always been a dream of mine to move out, get a job, become financially independent and live my own life far away from my family. I have a lot of resentment toward my dad at this point, and honestly, sometimes I feel like he couldn’t care less about me.

Recently, I finally got a good job. It’s a job that would allow me to save money and hopefully live the kind of life I’ve always wanted. I was genuinely so happy and excited. I told my parents about the job, my salary, everything.

Now I’m about to graduate and move out of my college dorm. I need to get an apartment/flat near my office so I can start working. I can afford the monthly rent and my other regular expenses. The problem is the deposit. Where I live, the deposit is a significant amount of money, and I simply don’t have enough saved to comfortably cover it myself.

I also had a financial plan for myself. I wanted to finally upgrade my phone and buy an iPhone. It’s something I’ve wanted since I was around 15, and I had specifically been saving toward it. I wasn’t planning to spend all my money recklessly. I had a plan for my savings and my future expenses.

I basically never ask my parents for things. If anything, I’ve sent them money and tried to help them financially even though we aren’t particularly close.

So I asked them if they could help me with the apartment deposit. I told them I would pay them back completely when I eventually move out and get the deposit back. I wasn’t asking them to permanently give me the money.

My dad's response was basically: No. If you don't have enough money for the deposit, don't buy an iPhone. An iPhone is useless and you don't need it.

He also told me that if I spend my money on an iPhone and other things I need/want and then come to him because I don't have enough for the deposit, he won't help me. His attitude was basically, “You're working now, so figure it out yourself.”

At one point he even said that if I don't have enough money, I can “try living on the road.”

And honestly, that broke something in me.

I understand that an iPhone is a luxury. I understand that I need to prioritize rent and housing. I’m not arguing that an expensive phone is more important than having a roof over my head.

What hurts me is the complete lack of willingness to help.

I haven't even started my job yet, and somehow getting a job has suddenly translated into “You're financially independent now, so don't ever expect anything from me again.”

I genuinely thought that if I had a temporary financial problem while transitioning from college into working life, I could ask my parents for help. Especially with something like a housing deposit that I would eventually get back.

And yes, I know I'm an adult. I know I'm responsible for my own finances. I know nobody owes me an iPhone or anything else.

But I also can't help feeling incredibly abandoned.

None of my friends seem to have experienced this exact thing. I hear them talk about their dads buying them things, helping them move out, gifting them phones, helping them financially when they're starting their careers, etc. And meanwhile, my own dad basically told me that if I can't figure everything out myself, that's my problem.

Sometimes I look at my friends and wonder what it would feel like to have a dad who actually wanted to help you instead of using your first job as an opportunity to tell you that you're completely on your own.

I know people may disagree with me and say I’m entitled for expecting my parents to help with the deposit. Maybe I am. I'm open to hearing that.

But emotionally, I'm just really hurt.

I worked hard to get this job. I was excited about finally becoming independent and building my own life. And instead of feeling supported, I feel like my dad is basically celebrating the fact that I'm leaving and making it very clear that he doesn't intend to be there for me anymore.

I don't even know if I'm more angry about the money or more hurt by what his reaction seems to say about how he sees me.

Am I being unreasonable for feeling this way?

Need Advice Not able to manage time

Upvotes

I’m currently doing an internship, and most of my day is spent on it. After that, I still need to study for my competitive exam, but I’m not able to because I feel extremely sleepy all the time. I’m on medication, which makes me drowsy, and I cannot stop taking it. My exam is also very expensive, so I really need to put in the effort. How can I manage my time better T_T

When I got into a good position and started seeing some success, grinding all by myself, I noticed that people around me started getting annoyed for no reason. They behave differently now and sometimes make fun of me. I can tell they’re not the same anymore.

Need Advice Problem with effort

Upvotes

Hello, I’m 20 y/o, nearing 21, and I have a pretty big problem I’m not sure how to solve. I was just about never a star student in school, not because I couldn’t understand or anything, but I always did the bare minimum. Stuff just kinda came natural, and I didn’t need to study or anything like that. I had a year of college and dropped out because I just couldn’t keep up. I feel like I can’t put much effort into things I don’t directly/immediately care about. It’s destroying my life, and I’m just trying to fix it and move forward. Obviously it would be good to chase some sort of career or field I care about, but it hasn’t been that simple. There are things I sort of cared about, but I couldn’t bring myself to do the hard parts I didn’t want to do. It’s like there’s this invisible wall in my brain that keeps me from doing so. I don’t like that phrasing because it completely detaches me from the result, but it sure does feel that way. This even extends to the most basic things, like laundry or self maintenance sometimes. It’s like I’ve been in some sort of “decay” mode where I just waste away. It’s like my mind is screaming to do something and my body doesn’t follow suit. Sorry for the yap, just had to get it off my chest somewhere. I’ve told people about this, but essentially people just tell me to “try harder”. That very well could be it. If it is though, what is the threshold? I feel like I would have reached it by 20 years of living and dealing with this. idk please help I’m big lazy

Need Advice I'm disillusioned with reality

This is more of a frustration rant than anything else, but I just wanted some fresh perspective. Has anyone ever just gotten to the point of thinking, what is the point of me devoting everything I have and not have to something, and it never leads anywhere? I love what I do. I am not in it for the money, and I honestly don't even mind working insane hours. But lately, I have been realising that what I previously thought were the ups and downs of life are starting to look like a pattern. For many years now, I have noticed that I always need to make up for the incompetence of other people with extra work, and that it never really benefits me but actually harms me because, for some reason, I always end up being responsible for it. People keep appearing in my life in different forms, taking and taking and taking, and ending up better off or at the same level as me. How is this fair? I was always sold on the idea of "work hard, do your best, and you will reap the rewards", but we don't do life in a vacuum, and unfortunately, you will be connected to other people. I just feel like I always find myself in the position where I end up drowning because someone who doesn't know how to swim used me as a swimming float to save themselves. Like, I honestly believed that some people were lucky, but that it was an occasional instance here and there in life. But no, because I keep putting myself in this position where my health is affected, I have no personal life, and everyone is benefiting except me. Some people just get through life with everything handed to them. And I don't know how to change it or stop it. And I know what you might be thinking: this is one-sided, and if I am always in this situation, maybe I am the problem, and I'm painting this into a narrative that suits me and makes me the victim. Believe me, that is not the case. Not because I'm full of myself and think the world revolves around me, but because I know I'm a good professional. I always been praised for it and i guess that raises the expectations and creates a double standard of expecting more from me than from others. I am just at a point where I'm thinking of throwing years of career down the drain because nothing will change. And to be this unhappy, I might as well be unhappy doing any other job with set hours and no stress, where I don't give up weekends, holidays, and, honestly, my personal life. Because work is all I have, and I find my self-worth in it. If anyone has felt this way and has some advice, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Health & Fitness I'm worried about hustle culture ruining my health.

I'm 22F, and since I was 18 I've been a hustle culture maniac, but haven't really accomplished anything. I worked 70 hours a week while doing online school from ages 19-21, then I moved out and started going to school in-person while working part time. For the past 4 years, ever since I've become an adult, I've felt guilty any moment I haven't spent "hustling." I tend to drink a lot of caffeine, beat myself up if I sleep in, and frequently have anxiety attacks and anger outbursts from small things. I'm starting to cut out energy drinks and drink less caffeine in general, and I'm also going to bed and waking up at the same time every day to improve my energy levels. But I'm afraid it's already too late because of the time I've spent putting work above my health and even my relationships.

I am going to schedule a physical, but this will be my first physical in my adult life. I'm worried I will be told I already have heart problems or am on the way to developing an autoimmune disorder based on my lifestyle choices alone. I noticed I experience chest pain when I drink energy drinks, but when I don't, I have no chest pain. I also have a lot of mental health issues and take mood stabilizers, and I struggle to afford enough food to eat a lot of the time. I've had days where I had nausea, headaches, and feeling like I'm going to pass out from how much caffeine I've had or how busy I've been throughout the day.

The reason i am just starting to care now is because I've bounced between multiple addresses in the last year struggling to afford a place to live. Now that I have a boyfriend and live with his very supportive family, I have room to care about my health, since he pays for a lot of my food and I've gotten the opportunity to eat more and have a consistent routine. I just keep cringing at the time I've spent in adulthood so far neglecting my health in pursuit of "the grind," and I want to prevent heart problems or diabetes as best I can. I've never been overweight, and I've never had physical health issues in my life, but I treat my health like the last priority and I am worried about the long-term impact of that.

My boyfriend is also worried about my new job getting in the way of school and sleep, since I sleep about 7 hours a night and do a lot of extracurriculars and side-hustles. The only reason I still get 7 hours is because I don't like being out of the house after dark. He thinks im still not getting enough sleep, but i want to find a balance between self-care and financial/academic success.
