Not going to be too difficult for Teasley to step over the bar Kwesi & Grigson left on the ground.

Discussion The way Vikings fans treat JJ. McCarthy is outrageous.

Post image

I’m a Patriots fan, and I just wanna say the way I’ve heard some Viking fans rip JJ McCarthy is disgraceful.

He was a national championship winning quarterback at Michigan.

He runs a 4.3, he has a elite arm talent as well as recognition ability.

The way that he’s been treated and the passive aggressive shots from Justin Jefferson is outrageous.

I’m glad we have Drake Maye, and we prop him up rather than tear him down. Be better.

If you’re not one of the Vikings fan I see bashing JJ. I’m not talking to you, I’m just talking to the haters. I’m not a Vikings fan, but I like JJ and I don’t like the way he’s been treated.

I’ve noticed after a visit, we usually sign them the next day if a deal gets done. Teas and co probably working out the contract details with his agent now

Injuries aside, JJM is projecting into a journeyman QB. His play is similar as T Jack.

Discussion The Silence Is Deafening

Why hasn’t there been any news on what’s really going on with McCarthy and his ankle? Is it a multi week injury or not? Everyone is saying Wentz is QB2 but they have been completely silent on that front.

Some are reporting today that NFL Execs are hearing McCarthys time here is at the end and some question if he will be on the roster in week #1.

Hasn’t anyone asked KOC about this yet? When do players get back on the practice field? This all seems really odd and the silence speaks volumes to me. I think they are actively trying to get him out of here before week #1 but simply are not going to give him away for nothing. With the whole ankle thing, I think McCarthy himself wants out and isn’t going to accept QB3.

There is a lot to play out yet, Gentlemen.

Edit: This is from Coller today….

Coller said, "I don't want to be the conspiracy person. It seems like they just don't want to name him the QB3, so it would be more convenient to say that he's hurt."

Discussion Is this a KOC hot seat season if no post-season wins, to you?

Phil Mackey made a decent point how Shanahan, Payton (Denver years only), and even Zimmer averaged better offenses over their years in the same amount of seasons if you take their best vs worst. Shanahan had some garbage QB’s before Purdy.

Now he has gotten a really good amount of regular season wins but I think Phil’s point kind of eats at the stigma of him being a major offensive guy.

Roster Move Practice squad discussion

Didn't see a thread for this.

https://www.vikings.com/news/practice-squad-2026-roster-nfl

Notable (at least to me) were no Fleming or Dyson - thought both looked promising. Jacob Roberts is also missing, appears to have suffered a season ending injury vs Denver, so maybe he can try again next training camp.

Several guys who were very anonymous during preseason made it - Briscoe, Rudolph, Lang. And one outside addition, former Badger LT Jack Nelson who was in camp with Atlanta and also apparently injured.

Hailassie, Armstead and maybe CamRon Stewart might be the most likely to get elevated this season? Who knows but they all play positions we're pretty thin at.

Vikings Rivalry Jersey Options

Why do we only get 6 players to choose from? Lots of other teams have way more. No rookie options, no reichard, no turner unless you cough up double the price for a custom jersey and even then you can’t get the stitched jersey.

[Lewis] - Vikings’ 53-man roster: 4 non-QB positions where they still need to improve

Edge rusher

Trading Jonathan Greenard brought attention to this position months ago. The move added urgency to 2024 first-round pick Dallas Turner’s development and made Andrew Van Ginkel staying healthy much more vital.

Turner’s training camp performance has inspired internal optimism. Van Ginkel’s availability has, too. But depth continues to be an important question, and Sunday’s news tossed gasoline on the fire.

Tyler Batty, an undrafted, second-year player from BYU, tore his ACL in the team’s final preseason game against the Denver Broncos. The season-ending injury left the team with just four edge rushers on its initial 53-man roster. Former undrafted players Chaz Chambliss and Bo Richter offer versatility and special teams value, but neither has the edge-setting presence to fill in for Turner or Van Ginkel.

There are only so many options available for the Vikings. They passed on plucking a player from the waiver wire, although rosters will still be in flux in the ensuing days. Free agency is another potential avenue. However, some of the best candidates in that pool — such as veteran Jadeveon Clowney — signed elsewhere.

There are still some productive players out there. Kyle Van Noy played for defensive coordinator Brian Flores in 2020 and is still unsigned. Free agents Haason Reddick and Leonard Floyd posted higher pressure rates than Van Noy last season, and both remain on the market.

The flexibility of current Vikings defenders Eric Wilson, Jake Golday and Ty Ingram-Dawkins provides short-term cover. But Minnesota would raise its defensive floor by adding another accomplished player at the position.

Note: “success rate” here is how often a receiver gets open, which is why it doesn’t necessarily match production

Say hypothetically there’s this team with a QB named, uh, Myler Kurray….yes, that will do..

He goes out for the season in the first drive of week 1, do the owners of the team (the Bilfs) eat a shit sandwich for once and tank the season for the draft? Or do they Bilf it up and throw money at it in order to keep the season alive?

Totally unrelated to the Vikings.

Anyone else just bummed about McCarthy?

Feels like everyone is rushing to “I told you so” or change topics to Kyler but isn’t it just a punch in the gut that he didn’t work out?

He’s a 23 year old kid that seemingly works hard and has a positive attitude but just can’t put it together.

So many high hopes for him when he was drafted but it likely set us back 5 or so years.

I hate to say it but it felt like him panning out was really the shot we had of winning it with Jets, O’Neill, Harry, and Darrisaw. Pretty sad but that’s the league I guess.
