Korean (Long) [French > Korean] exploring poetic translatability: Translating a French cosmic/melancholic lyric into Korean

Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I am working on an artistic and poetic project bridging French lyricism with Korean phonetic and conceptual textures (inspired, among other things, by traditional storytelling and modern cinematic folk).

My approach is purely intellectual and literary. I wrote a piece structured around a central metaphor: the cosmos as a grinding mill (maetdol) turning alongside a river/the Milky Way, weighing human actions and existential "debts".

As a non-native speaker, I am deeply concerned with vernacular accuracy—making sure the imagery resonates natively without sounding like a clumsy literal translation or evoking an awkward, mundane domestic tool instead of a cosmic wheel.

I would love to hear thoughts from native speakers or translation scholars on how this imagery lands in Korean:

- Does the pairing of mul (water/river) and maetdol (millstone) evoke the natural philosophical flow of Samsara or time, or does it feel disjointed?

- How is the nuance of "human debts" (bit) perceived conceptually in a poetic context?

Here is an excerpt of the text (French / Korean): [Insérer un petit extrait ou le poème entier]

I am simply looking to exchange ideas on how cultural imagery translates across these specific linguistic structures. Thank you for your insights !

Emmanuel
천상의 물레방아 (Artémis / Edel)

ps : I want to clarify that this is just a bit of fun—the text works perfectly in both French and English, idiomatically speaking… but the thing is, I’m a fan of Sang Sohee, of Korean culture and sounds… it’s music to my ears; Over my morning coffee, after writing this in French, I thought to myself, “Hmm, this sounds like a Korean song, almost a shamanic Segyeong-bonpuri chant”—that’s all!

German [German > English] Help with old handwriting.

A transcription is honestly okay, its the handwriting that is more of a problem.

I can make out parts of it -- i.e. I see something about Nähe and later on, arbeitet keine kartoffels[?], but otherwise, I'm a bit lost between words.

Thank you. Means a lot.

I'd really appreciate a translation (even if it's just a little bit lol) :)

I hope the link to the song works 😖

Chinese [Chinese > English] Translation check - short phrase

Upvotes

I'm currently putting together a teaching resource for primary school pupils about different scripts/orthographies around the world. The task has 18 translations of 'languages are amazing/incredible' in various languages which have differing scripts. I've checked the translations with multiple online translation tools, but I'm well aware that these sometimes do not catch the nuanced points that native speakers can, hence why I wanted to post here for advice.

Would this be a suitable translation for Chinese (simplified), or is there a better alternative?

语言很奇妙

Thank you in advance for any help you lovely r/translator Redditors can offer!

Found this while walking about... what does it all mean?

Edit: I did not know you werent supposed to open it, I am very curious by nature so I am always picking things up to see what they are, stopping to look at abandoned buildings, etc. I have a metal detector for this reason too. I places the Omamori at a little rock shrine someone made close to where I live. I put a little leaf and a feather on it as well. I looked it up and you can try to make things right by doing this, especially if it was an accident. Obviously there is something to this thing since right after I opened it I felt nauseous and threw up. Could have been a coincidence but still.

Needs Review [ARY] [unknown > english] saw this in a game i played, can't identify the language

i'm curious about "âandaki"

some context:

- the internet doesn't seem to know this word even exists, even wiktionary goes dumb

- the game is set in the second half of the XIVth century, so i assume the word might be archaic

- the game is set in italy

- the word is said by a man when a little girl (sophia) runs past; seems the message might be something like "watch out", "be careful", "slow down" etc.

- edit: the game is "resonance: a plague tale legacy", someone requested that info

i'm trying to identify the language. thank you in advance!

Hello! I would greatly appreciate help with transcribing and translating the text in this image. Handwritten kanji give me a hard time... I know it's a lot, sorry!
If it helps, the characters names are: ボブ (Bob, eye-patch cat), マサ (Masa, sabertooth), マバヤ (Mbaya, guy at the bottom with the smug expression), ザハブ (Zahab, lion) and ジャン (Jean, wolf)

Arabic>English
I found this video of a recipe of a sister making baklava I can understand a few words as I’m learning Arabic. I’m really just wanting to know what ingredients this sister uses for example the nuts, and the type of syrup. Also if she mentions how long to bake it and the temperature as the video itself shows me exactly what to do.

Japanese [English >Japanese] help write 'good boy' in Japanese

My friend jokes around how he's trying to be a good person or a 'good boy' at times and I said I should give you a badge for it atp also he can read katakana and hiragana, so for his birthday I want to write 'good boy' on a shirt in Japanese so what's the slang for that I want it to be a nuanced translation not completely literal that it doesn't make sense to a native speaker.
