7

u/PoisonGravy Jul 22 '26

Best ever. I have played it since release, at least once every year or so as well! 👍

Who's your favorite party?

7

u/AndyM110 Jul 22 '26

Don't make me choose!

I like to cycle through everyone, but I definitely use Crono + Ayla a lot for Falcon Hit (and charm). Frog or Robo make a good third for easy healing.

Amazing game. Played it once in summer ‘07 on emulator. I think next year I’ll have to replay it for the 20th anniversary of my first time. Will try to find the DS version so I see the cutscenes that I missed as I played the SNES version the first time. I hope it gets a proper remake, but I also don’t because I feel it’s hard to match or beat the original

7

u/UltLuc Jul 22 '26

A man of culture, I see.

8

u/Ciabs Jul 22 '26

Had to scroll too far down to find it

Played almost 15-20 times from 1995 to today; a bit less in the last decade to be fair, but there’s not a single pixel I don’t know about this game

58

u/Miserable_Health6788 Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26

Both remake and original are so insanely replayable I’m struggling to drop them and play new games I bought.

4 og never gets old and the remake has what I believe is the best gun gameplay ever.

11

7

u/desamora Jul 22 '26

No not at all lol it’s an incredible game, you’re in for a treat!!

4

u/dcnairb Jul 22 '26

no, i think it's just that the first act itself can be the length of a typical game (40h isn't unreasonable) and is, by itself, so fleshed out and dynamic that it's almost like replaying a game unto itself

plus replaying a shorter segment vs. the entire game makes it easier to try new classes or builds

Skyrim. That inner voice never went away. Any time I’m thinking about what new game to play next, the voice inside my head pipes up and says “you could always play Skyrim again.”

67

u/5ilver_star Jul 22 '26

Yes, that feeling when we want to try new build but ends up being a stealth archer again 😂

Does this voice sound suspiciously like Todd Howard. Does he offer you a new edition for the game every time, too?

5

u/TonyMacBony Jul 22 '26

At this point the voice doesn't even need to say it anymore, it just gestures at the fridge, the toaster, and your smart thermostat, all of which apparently run Skyrim now.

23

u/MeetLate8198 Jul 22 '26

Always the stealth archer!!!

I have logged close to 1000 hours, I’ve done a 3 “options” and done all the endings…I learned to mod from vortex just to add more stuff to do and added cooler real cars and gadgets. I also modded new missions and dialogs with existing characters, I think I run close to 500 mods now at once.

Super Mario World!

All 96 exits at least once a year.

Final Fantasy 7, the original, is right there as well though. Maybe every 18 months with some new restrictions.

Last one I did was starting equipment and level 1 limits only. It was tough but I did it!

4

u/KranKyKroK Jul 22 '26

Reminds me of my first time with original 7 getting ready for Rebirth. I didn't understand how limit breaks worked and never really used them, luckily they're mostly unnecessary up until the third disc. Going into that pit, and having Barret learn his second limit break a few screens in was a very strange experience. Needless to say my first third disc experience was pretty much training everyone's limit breaks from 1 while trying to make it to Sepiroth. That last fight was insane, and satellite Beam really came in clutch.

Currently? I am replaying Ocarina of time for the 3rd time already.

Very excited for the remake, i did play the original this year as well but ship to harkanian pc port modernizes the controls lets you have a right stick modern camera system with the 3ds remake graphics and the original gameplay.

It's crazy how modernized the game feels by just adding a modernized camera and "fixing" the inverted y axis.
