Our neighbors that we visited often had sheep and goats. I must have been around 6 years old when we visited one time and I saw all these soft walnut sized "balls" on the ground. Being a kid, I was kicking them all around, then curiosity got the better of me so I picked one up and was mooshing it, squeezing it, and really eyeing it, trying to figure out what it was. Their sons, probably 14 and 16 at the time were laughing their asses off.
I finally asked what they were laughing at, and asked what "these" were.
They told me to follow them into the barn, so I did.
They picked up what looked like a pair of pliers, a tiny but thick rubber band, then put the band onto the pliers, squeezed them and 4 prongs spread the band quite wide.
They walked upto a male goat and placed the band around the testicles and let go. The goat reacted exactly as one would imagine, and it was at that point I dropped the sac. They said the goat would drop his sack in a day or two.
Yup me too. The hogs were cut, the steers were banded. After the hogs were cut we dumped Lysol in the incisions and I swear some came close to levitating with the speed thier tails rotated. Thanks for the childhood memories, this explains a lot about the way I am now. /s
There is a lot involved in farming (especially concerning animals) that is best left undiscovered by outsiders.
My mom's best friend lived a couple miles down the road from us. They "gifted" a calf to their kids once. They had a huge area for it to graze and grow.
One day after about a year, there were "Missing Cow" posters taped to poles on our road. The parents told the kids that the cow escaped.
A day or two later, a butcher's truck backed up to the garage and they filled their freezer with beef.
I am unsure when the kids realized that they were eating, or had eaten the missing cow.
My coworker used to work with this guy. They were all out to dinner and they got a round of RMO for the table, cause, whatever lol. Everyone had their little bit, and nahhh'd out.... except this one guy. He was going to town on them, and actually ordered MORE. The rest of the groups was like "FRED. YOU KNOW WHAT THOSE ARE RIGHT?" He didnt, and he didnt care once he was told. Living his best life.
If they're prepped and cooked properly, they're not chewy at all. My in-laws were VFW members. (Late '90s, early 2K's) 2x a year they would have RMO dinners. $12 for 2 styrofoam to-go containers full. So so so so good.

Per my quick bit of research the "eggs" are most edible when young and firm, but as the mushroom ages it, as the name suggests, they begin to smell absolutely horrid become slimy and not palatable.
I seriously thought it was animal testes at first and I'm trying hard not to laugh at the thought of some eunuchy animal peaking through the window while the guy is pulling apart it's scrotum.
My grown son had a torsion that happened when he was visiting. The surgeon showed me an 8x10 glossy photo of his scrotum incised with the affected testes nested inside, only it was blue. Not a pretty color in this case. But that’s where my mind went when I saw this, this thing.😧 yikes 😱

They have to lick it first, if they rub it in their eyes they might lose their eyesight and won’t be able to see more for taste testing. Always taste random items found on the ground before rubbing in your eyes, that’s just common sense.
I've never seen a more thorough handling in my life. Halfway through I was thinking "Wow, OP's wife must be a lucky lady" But then I remembered that he's got whatever that thing is all over his hands for the rest of eternity.

Photo from a quick google search for reference. They are little jelly like balls with a skin on them. The stinkhorn mushroom emerges from this and, as the name implies, smells nasty in order to attract flies to spread its spores.
