Is getting old just stomach aches after dinner?

Upvotes

I need to eat earlier and earlier in the day, or else I get nauseous. Some of it I've gotten meds from my GI, but I hear adults talk about not eating too late or eating too much.

I remember I could eat whatever in high school and be totally fine :( Now I can't eat past 8 PM without feeling nausea.

What if every major government already knows aliens exist, but the real reason they keep it secret isn’t panic—it’s because we’re not supposed to know they’re here yet?

Upvotes

I keep thinking about this possibility. We always hear theories about governments hiding evidence of aliens, but what if the reason is completely different? If something like this were actually being kept secret, what do you think the real reason would be?

How do I plan my life when I’m interested in too many things?

Upvotes

Im 33M I have both a bachelor and a masters degree in art. Throughout my 20s, I had a very clear idea of what career I wanted (and who I wanted to become) I was able to eventually land my dream job, but things started falling apart after I was laid off multiple times starting in 2023.

I’ve tried changing directions, but then I’ve realized that starting over is much harder than I expected. One of my biggest problems is that I’m terrible at planning and sticking to a schedule. I tend to work on whatever feels interesting at the moment. I’m very creative and constantly have new ideas, but I struggle to stay focused on one thing for a long time. Once something stops feeling new or exciting, I tend to lose motivation and move on to something else. I used to think I had my life figured out, but now I feel like I’m starting over in my 30s.

Question: How do you actually build a career and plan your life without constantly jumping from one idea to another?
Should I force myself to become more disciplined and structured, or should I just build a career around the fact that I naturally work this way?

What did your 30s teach you that your 20s couldn’t?

Upvotes

I’m turning 30 later this week. I’m taking a trip with a friend to celebrate. My 20s have been…..full. Good, toxic, everything in between. What is something I should reflect on as 30 approaches? Something you wish you would’ve known when turning 30?

How to feel alive as an adult?

Upvotes

Remember as a kid when you just lived and felt alive by seeing your friends, going outside, finding a bug, etc?! What are you doing for fun as an adult? What makes you feel alive?

Maybe I’m just living a boring life but I don’t know if anything really makes me feel that way anymore. I want to take control of my life and live it to the fullest …. Like really just enjoy myself every now and then

I feel like I’m too proud to go the doctor and don’t know what to do.

I’m 34M, and I have an annual physical coming up in a few weeks that I’m considering cancelling. I’ve been questioning the value that my annual physical provides, and I’ve been feeling pretty fatalistic about my health recently. I don’t drink or smoke, I have a healthy diet, and I have a pretty active lifestyle (I lift weights 4 days a week and walk 30 minutes almost every day). Basically, I take very good care of my body. On top of that, I don’t take any medications and don’t have any major health issues. That said, I have this desire to go the rest of my life without medical intervention, unless I get in an accident or get injured somehow. I have a lot of pride in my body and I’m very hard on myself whenever I get sick or injured. The way I look at it, even if I get a deadly disease that can be treated early (like early stage cancer), I would take that as a sign that my body is becoming decrepit and I should therefore refuse treatment so I can die opposed to living with a decrepit body. I also want to avoid feeling like I’m complaining too much about my health by being more proactive about getting doctor’s appointments, which is what I dealt with one year when I had several appointments on top of my annual physical.

Be honest. How old is too old to not have anything together?

I just turned 26 and I've been freaking out about it a lot. I have absolutely nothing in my life together. No friends, no career (or even an idea of what I want to do), never dated, still live at home and have never been away, basically nothing. I grew up in a really controlling house and right when I was starting to figure myself out a little, the pandemic happened. Then I got seriously ill and basically did nothing but sleep and sit in doctor's offices all through my early 20s. I'm finally feeling better physically, but I feel like I've missed everything. I know everyone says that everyone's on their own timeline, but in real life people really start looking at me weird when I don't have stories or life experiences to share. I still feel like a teenager waiting for the fun part of life to start and have an urge to go out and be crazy and reckless, have fun, and learn through trial and error like most people do in their teens/early 20s, while most people I went to high school with are graduated, married, and settling down. I feel so behind and I'm pretty confused about what to do. I kind of feel like I've missed the point where I was supposed to figure myself out, and the idea that I'm pushing 30 with the life experiences of a teenager makes me feel so pathetic and like I've missed my shot. What am I too old for? What am I not too old for? What's still feasible for me? What the hell should I do now?

My life isn't so much exciting, how do I accept it?

I'm 22 and all I do is go to class, workout, read some novels with my low attention span, eat, game and sleep. I am not an ugly person but I don't have any girlfriend or any crush I am speaking. I get rejected leading to not much success with the opposite sex. Idk if it's a skill issue or am I just not attractive enough physically and financially.

I also have an addiction which I have been trying to quit but I haven't. All in all, my life doesn't sound exciting and I have been trying to make it exciting but I haven't, so how do I accept my life and just keep doing what I do without feeling this need to make it more than it is or feeling sad that my life is kinda boring?

At what point do you admit handling an estate yourself is costing more than getting help?

I’m a few months into handling my dad’s estate and starting to wonder if doing it all myself is actually saving me anything I work full time and the estate is in another state. I’ve already had to take time off twice just to deal with the house, and every trip seems to lead to something else that needs handling after I get back.

I started out thinking paying for help would be a waste when I could technically do most of this myself. Now I’m looking at the time I’ve lost from work and how much of my week this keeps eating up. DIY route isn't worth it anymore I think so who could I hire to help with this?

Struggles

Who else is tired of struggling? I work a full time job and live within my means and I stilll struggle. Today I went to a local giveaway that was handing out gift cards for gas only like 50 bucks worth but hey a gal can take all the help she can get. But those cards went so fast as so many are struggling. Sad times we live in and I don’t even know how to get out of it.
