Discussion Chevy 5.3 overheating
I’ve been chasing down this overheating issue for weeks now. I have replaced the thermostat, and it seemed to put a Band-Aid on the fix, after about two weeks, it started overheating again I replaced it with a Murray 182° OE thermostat , I replaced the water pump thermostat sensor. Had to pull the heads off and get them resurfaced. Got all new gaskets they said my heads were warped, flushed the radiator burped the system, installing another thermostat, replace the serpentine belt, replaced the belt tensioner (I heard that could be an issue too) started the truck back up and it’s still overheating
During this process, I turned the heater on and it was blowing cold air at 90°

Discussion 1969 Chevrolet Caprice inherited
I've recently come to take possession of my late grand fathers 1969 Chevrolet Caprice. I don't know which engine it has yet, but I do know it's a Manual.
Not sure on mileage either. Just wondering where I start in the ownership of this? It'll probably never be driven - was just going to tarp it for a while until I figure out what to do with it. I can't sell it anytime soon, so that's not an option.
Not sure how many people here would know about these cars as they're almost 60 years old now but any advice is appreciated.

Discussion Full screen CarPlay in 25 Silverado
GM, please fix full-screen Apple CarPlay on the 13.4” Silverado/Sierra infotainment system.
I own a 2025 Silverado, and frankly, I’m not happy that a truck this expensive still can’t properly use its entire 13.4-inch display for Apple CarPlay.
Android Auto can make much better use of the screen. The hardware is clearly capable of it. Yet CarPlay users are stuck with a large portion of an expensive display being wasted by GM’s current layout.
I’ve even gone into Android developer settings and changed the display density to 1280 just to make CarPlay larger. It helps, but it still isn’t the experience this screen should provide. Other owners are buying dongles, installing third-party software, and finding workarounds simply to accomplish something GM should offer natively.
And owners have been asking for this for YEARS.
Nobody is asking GM to remove the existing layout. Just give us a choice:
• Full-screen Apple CarPlay
• Current split-screen layout
That’s it. A toggle.
When someone spends this much money on a Silverado with the upgraded infotainment system, they shouldn’t have to hack developer settings or buy aftermarket hardware just to properly use the screen.
Please pass this along to the GM infotainment/software product team and seriously consider adding full-screen CarPlay through an OTA update.
There are a lot of Silverado and Sierra owners asking for the same thing. It’s time to fix it.

Discussion 2023 Traverse Purchase
I’m considering buying a 2023 Chevy Traverse LT for $22,995. It has 22k miles. I drove a Buick Encore before but need more space. Any insight into the traverse, specifically a 2023, is appreciated!

Repair Help Is Removing Dash for Blend Door Actuator Replacement (AC repair) necessary?
I have an 09 Impala LT that I love to death, but I've been putting off getting the AC repaired (got the signature ticking noise) pretty much since I bought it in '11. The mechanics I have asked about it all say they need to remove the dash to repair it, and the quotes have always been $700+. On the other hand, one of my family members several hours away gets theirs repaired for $75ish, but it is constantly breaking.
This video makes it seem pretty accessible, but maybe I'm missing something? Would it be acceptable to show a mechanic this video? I have the most rotten luck with new issues popping up shortly after I take my car in for a repair, and I don't want to offend someone into breaking more of my stuff. (I had a mechanic I really liked, but we just learned his shop has closed, thus I am here.)
Additionally, if you know how to look up the parts for my car the way mechanics do, I'd love to take a peek at pricing. I believe at least 2 of the 3 have gone out, and the mechanic says this driver side one is really expensive. I found this set for $77, and even this single OEM part looks to be $52. A reliable OEM set is honestly something I'd prefer to buy myself if possible.
Sorry for rambling! I am taking my car in for an unrelated issue. Broke and nervous.

Repair Help Engine light came one now truck won't start
My 2022 Chevy Colorado 4. Cylinder check engine light came on and then started to jerk a little bit and now it won't crank up at all.

Discussion Is this worth it?
I’ve been saving up for a nice daily truck and came across this, she said all it needs is a new radiator soon and the ac doesn’t work but other than that it has 230k miles, she said it runs and drives great, just for $2,700, which slightly Sus, could there be more things wrong with it? Would it be hard to replace the radiator myself?

Discussion 2014 chevy sonic LTZ lifespan?
Hi all, just curious how many more miles I'll get out of my sonic. I got it 10 years ago at 60k and she's now at 130k. All of the common major problems of the chevy sonic have happened already, head gasket, pvc valve, overheating due to melted plastic parts, coolant tank replacement. The turbo made it to 130k and was replaced last year and then last month the water pump was replaced. JUST TODAY it's sputtering trying to start. I wanted to get 200k miles from it but it feels like the car is giving up lol. I'm worried the transmission will be next and I will just get a new car at that point. Are the major problems behind me or is something big around the corner. Any advice is appreciated thanks 🙏

Picture Built in 1991 still on the road now with a 454 big block!
This Nova is my good friend Ross' he built it with his buddy Henry in 1991 combining the drive train from a 69 Camaro and a 71 Nova. It became a street and strip machine and now in 2026 it's still going strong. Whole life it had a 350 now it's up to a 454. Was also the first Nova I have ever personally driven being my dream car it was a special moment. Probably the coolest part is we did a documentary about this car and everything was captured. I'll post the link below for anyone interested.

Repair Help 1989 Chevy Caprice 125k, the trans does not go into gear until it hits 2500 rpm.
My dad has an 89 Caprice, v8, im sure thats the only way they come. I think its a 4 speed auto but im not sure. Anyways it's been sitting for 10-15 years, it starts right up and goes into reverse no problem, but when you want to go forward you have to raise the engine rpms up to 2500, but once you get it going it shifts fine and you can drive it around. Any ideas what might be the issue or how to make it better? My dad bought a 2 step flush kit for about $40 he said. We might do that tomorrow.

Discussion Roadside Assistance with Used ('23) Bolt EV
I recently bought a '23 Bolt EV, and have created an account at the Chevy site and added the car. At the site it shows I have Roadside Assistance for a couple more years/more miles. Is there anything else I need to do to register/activate that?
Just want to be in for surprises if I get stranded.

Discussion Should i trade in the truck?
Hey folks,
Got a 22 Silverado 1500 LTZ with 66k miles on it. It is paid off and everything is fine with the truck. I drive roughly 23-25k miles a year so by next year I’ll have about 90k miles on it. For shits I looked into a new RST, with rebates and discounts they knocked about $10k off the msrp and offered $33.5k for my truck. I’d have a payment of $384/month. It’s really nice not having a truck payment right now but I worry about depreciation and the costs of trucks continuing to go up. I rather get more for my truck now then thousands less in a year or two even.
What would you do?

Repair Help So embarrassing
Just was wondering if anyone knew if this is really bad damage in the pictures shown here. I had an accident leaving work this afternoon and maybe it’s because I’ve just recently started doing 4am shifts but I was pulling out of my parking spot and hit a trucks passenger door who was passing. I was questioning the damage because I want to change the bumper and don’t want to spend so much money. Is it just cosmestic damage or should I be worried?

Discussion What the hell even is this noise?!?!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
My Malibu runs fine normally, but after flooring it today, it shifted hard and blew out a huge cloud of smoke. The CEL flashed, then stopped after a few minutes of normal driving.
TOPDON only showed P0300-00: Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire.
Now I hear a strange noise when letting off after higher RPM/boost. Turbo-related?
Could this be plugs/coils, a boost leak, turbo failure, fueling, or something worse? The smoke and flashing CEL have me concerned.

Discussion 1972 C30 (9ft stepside)
The trucks got a 292 with a granny low 4 speed, allegedly ran about 4 years ago… I got it in December of 2024 and haven’t had time to fiddle with it much. Odometer says 36k miles and change, and I’m inclined to believe that given how clean it is, seats are the original vinyl as far as I can tell…. But it has a 9ft stepside… I’ve looked around the internet some and i haven’t found a ton of info on it..
Looking for any info, I plan on getting it up and running this fall once it cools off here in the south. So any input or info on it would be appreciated.. I feel like I’ve got a pretty rare bird on my hands here
