Question Found a hairline crack on my 2024 RX350h Canadian ultra luxury trim moonroof glass covered with glue — 2 months after CPO purchase. Advice?
Bought a 2024 RX 350h Ultra Luxury as Certified Pre-Owned from a Lexus dealership about 2 months ago. Yesterday I noticed a small mark on the outside of the moonroof glass — assumed it was bird droppings or tree sap after rain, so I wiped it with my finger. Turned out to be adhesive/glue applied from the outside, directly over a hairline crack that’s visible from inside the car.
The vehicle passed the dealer’s full CPO inspection checklist (moonroof item specifically marked as “meets standards”), so either it was missed, or the crack + glue predate the inspection.
I’ve emailed the dealership with photos/video and I’m waiting on a response.
A few questions for anyone who’s dealt with something similar:
**1.** Has anyone had a CPO dealer actually cover something like this as goodwill, or do they typically push back and say it’s the buyer’s responsibility to catch it at delivery?
**2.** Any idea on realistic repair/replacement cost for the panoramic moonroof glass on this generation RX?
**3.** Is escalating to Lexus Canada / OMVIC (Ontario) worth doing in parallel, or should I give the dealer more time first?
Appreciate any input from people who’ve been through this.
