I’d like to hear yours. No disrespect to the legend, but I actually think losing Kopi could be beneficial for the team this season.

I keep hearing the narrative around the league that we’re totally screwed without him and people questioning how we’re going to replace the identity and leadership he brought. But honestly this team has needed an attitude and identity change for years, and at times I think Kopi’s presence as captain may have held them back from making that change and getting over the hump in the first round.

He’s an all time King and always will be but these last 4 years, he doesn’t have much juice left when the playoffs rolled around. Especially against centers around the league who are better at this point. I put a lot of that on management and coaching, because there was no excuse for running him 21-25 mins a night at this stage of his career instead of gradually passing the torch to the younger guys.

Maybe losing Kopi forces this team to finally establish a new identity, gives other guys a chance to take ownership of the room, and creates an attitude change they’ve needed for a while.

My custom lawn bowls arrived from Australia yesterday and they’re so clean and beautiful. I just love them.

LA in 2024-25 had their best season, 105 points. they finished 14th in goals for (not bad, middle of the pack) and 2nd in goals against. power play struggled but penalty kill was 8th so pretty good. LA finished sixth overall in league standings and above edmonton. And all of this was under Jim Hiller as HC. So why did things change so suddenly after game two in the playoffs that year? I didn’t pay too much attention back then as I do now so I just need someone to help me wrap my head around this. Such a waste of a potential deep playoff run.
