Finishing Last update on this project ᵕ̈

Hi guys! Thank you so much for being so sweet to me starting my needlepoint journey! I initially had a sequin border around my Project but the more I looked at it the more I was just unhappy with it. I tried to sew the sequence on and it didn’t work so I had to use hot glue and I absolutely hated the look of it!

I ended up taking all of it apart and sewed some cording that I made on it and I think it looks better… do you guys agree? Let me know which one you like more!

Resources and Links Skein Storage?

Upvotes

Hi Ladies! I’m curious how you store unused skeins of yarn? I have my non wool floss organized in stackable storage boxes by color, but I want to keep the wool separated.
How do you keep your stash tidy? Or should I just keep it in a tote?

Trademark?

Hi just trying to understand how people are able to design and sell canvases that have trademarked names like “Diet Coke” or “Masters” just as an example. Is this legal?

Where should I start a diagonal scotch stitch if the boarder has a slant? Is this correct? Thanks!

General Help Scroll frame question

Hi there,
I am using a scroll frame for the first time to stitch a stocking. Do I need to be concerned about stitches getting “smushed” down as I roll stitched portions of the canvas? I plan to save all beading and ribbon work for when I’ve completed the bulk of my stitching and take it off the frame. I do have a fair amount of decorative stitches and I am using a mixture of vineyard silk, impressions, neon rays, water and ice, whisper, lots of fun thread (but no velvet).
Is there anything I need to do to prevent any marks of indents on stitched portions as I move down the canvas?
Thank you!

What’s one thing that totally changed your needlepoint game?

Stealing this topic from a post in the needlepointers FB group because I have been devouring the tips shared there!

What is one thing that really changed your needlepoint, be it a technique, product, mindset, etc?

For me, a light with magnifying glass on a gooseneck changed my 18ct canvas work completely for the better 🙏

Finishing My first 2 projects finished!!

I know they are not perfect at all but I am pretty proud for my first time doing this! The self finishing ornament took a lot! Whenever I was sewing the front cookie and back cookie together I was shoving a tiny little sewing needle through everything and it was so painful until I realized what thimbles are for 😭🤣

Leftover kitted materials…..

A few of my first projects were the Michael’s kits, what do you do with the leftover thread and directions, etc? It’s not like a skein of DMC that I’ll save for a different project but I also don’t want a bucket of stuff that I no longer need??

Help Fix Leaf stitch gone wrong?

Is my leaf stitch supposed to have the gaps in it? Specifically the ones under the top two leaves. I’m following the stitches to go guide and feel like I’ve done it correctly, but my mom (also a needlepointer) was sending me some examples where there aren’t any gaps.

Looking for Needlepointers Finishing up a piece my great aunt started

Post image

In cleaning out my great aunt's house we found a bunch of 90% done projects. I grabbed a couple of them. This one was still in the hoop in a bag with the thread, only the white clouds left to do. Not sure when she started on it, but the design says 1993 Julie Mar (?)

It appears to be painted canvas with wool thread. is there a best practice for fixing the warp? I'm not a needlepointer (mostly sewing and knitting for me).

Help Compensating Corduroy Stitch

This is my first decorative stitch and I may have picked something too challenging for a new stitcher but I loved how it looked. I’m working the pattern from right to left above the ladybug and found it pretty easy to compensate when the curve was going up but now I’m completely lost as the curve is going down. Normally I would start the pattern again by going over one intersection to the left but I know need to drop down as well because of the curve of the ladybug. Any tips for how to compensate?

I’ve been working on this canvas doing the skip tent for the first time and I seem to have messed it up in between the W of NEW and the Y of York. Do you think it looks obvious? Should I frog it and does anyone see where I went wrong? Thanks for your help!

First self-(almost) Finish

Just waiting for my curved needle to arrive so I can ladder stitch the bottom closed. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. Do I love it so much? Yes 100%

As a sewist and quilter I was, perhaps arrogantly, assuming it would be perfect the first time, but the velvet fabric (and my wonky blocking) humbled me real fast! I can't wait to make another and to keep learning!

Just started the background stitch (condensed mosaic) on this cute little canvas. I can’t decide if I like it? Opinions? Is it somehow distracting/jarring? Planning to have it finished as a small zippered pouch. Thanks!

Finisher recommendations?

Hi there - I’ve been struggling to find good finishers lately. Everything’s coming back with glue on it or canvas showing. Does anyone have any good finisher recommendations? I’m located in RI but willing to ship. Thanks!

New to Needlepoint Help!

Hi! I have never done needlepoint before, but I am a very crafty person. I can crochet, cross stitch, knit, sew, etc. I’m a fast learner! Is it too ambitious for my first needlepoint project to be a belt? I have my heart set on designing a needlepoint belt for my boyfriend and finishing it by Christmas or his birthday which is in January. I want to design it on needlepaint.com (hopefully this is a good site for this). Do I need to also get something to stretch the canvas or can I complete it without one of those? But if many of you think this is too big of a project to take on I want the truth too! Thanks!

Resources and Links Audra Stitch Lab Vol 1 shops for 2027?

Does anyone know where to find a list of shops offering Audra’s Stitch Lab Volume 1 in 2027? I’ve seen some individual shops posting about it, but can’t find a full schedule for Volume 1. Or has anyone heard of shops other than W&F or Three Palms that are hosting next year? The times they are offering unfortunately don’t work for me.
Vol 2 info has been out for a while, but I can’t find Vol 1 info. You can do Vol 2 first but I’d rather do 1 for various reasons. Any help appreciated!
