With the announcement of Infamous 2 and FOB servers being shut down, there were SO so many people that ended up playing the game (some for the first time like me) to be able to get the platinum. I had only played Second son and first light, but decided to finally try 1,2, and FOB. Like me, so many other people for the first time discovered how great these games were, and just how much they liked the franchise. So the question begs, should more servers be shut down, so people feel a “FOMO” on the game and end up playing it for the first time, thus becoming a new fan?

If you look at psn trophies, you can see thousands and thousands of people earning the online trophies daily. I feel like this could be used as a good strategy to get more people interested in your game franchise. Of course this only works if you have an online function/ trophies tied to it. But a cool thought

Recently, I bought 4 new knockoff controllers from AliExpress, but they all have the same major issue: their analog sticks are configured in a way that makes their movement follow a circle instead of a square. Because of this, when the analog is moved diagonally, it only reaches about half of its full length, meaning that in games, moving diagonally only makes me move at around half my maximum speed (this also applies for the camera analog).

I attached a video showing the issue on a controller testing site with two controllers. The one recognized as an Xbox 360 controller (I’m not sure why it does that) is one of the new knockoff controllers, while the one recognized as a PS3 controller is an older knockoff I’ve had since 2018 that works correctly.

Is there any way to recalibrate the new controllers so the analog sticks can reach their full movement, including diagonally? (Preferably, I’m looking for a way to recalibrate them directly on a real PS3, not just PC. I’ve already tried using DualShock 3 calibration software on PC, but since the controllers are recognized as Xbox 360 controllers, the software doesn’t detect them. If anyone also knows how to make them be recognized as PS3 controllers on PC as well, that would also help a lot!)

I ordered two controller cases specifically molded for the PS3's Dualshock controller from Controller Chaos, as I replaced mine with two Retro Fighters Defender Pros. I am keeping the two Dualshocks, but they are going into storage. I only found out recently that Controller Chaos is known for interminable delays and sporadically filling orders. I can't seem to find any alternatives in terms of cases specifically for PS3 controllers, versus generic cases that hold anything. Can anyone direct me to such a thing? Or am I 20 years too late?

All of the new consoles require you to pay for having access to multi-player - the PlayStation 3 does not require that from its players. The idea itself is motivated by pure corporational greed. With the recent out-rage within the gaming community regarding the future of producing physical copies, i believe that the gaming community needs to also address the matter of having free multi-player access.

While i do not support in any way for having to pay for such access, it would be more fair if the corporations would literally allow you to buy time that only deducts as you play.

For instance, assume that you purchase a monthly subscription, however, your life becomes busy and you barely had the chance to play during that month, so you basically ended up wasting your finances for some thing that you did not have time for. The gaming community needs to seriously consider to stop paying for these subscriptions, it may bring an impact if a huge amount of players are willing to participate in that form of protest.

Game review on IGn: For the PS3 version, a solid 10/10

Game review on Gamespot for the PS3 version: a solid 10/10 way back then Gamespot was considered at the same pedigree as IGN when it came to the gaming industry media coverage.

The game was always going to be a 10/10 as long as the game ran smoothly, talking about the Steam version of the game playable on PC gaming hardware 100 percent.

5600 Ryzen processor

32 GB DDR4 RAM

This game review is for the steam version of the game only mind you and I give a detailed comparison of playing the same game the ps3 version on it on rpcs3 emulator the best emulator for ps3 gaming world wide according the the emulation industry standards and piracy there is not allowed.

I got a YLOD PS3 CECHL03. I read up on the Syscon errors but the solutions seem to be a bit conflicting

I consistently got error 802124, 802024, 112142, 112024 and a singular 801002

So I really wanna play persona 3 FES, SMT digital devil saga, persona 4 and maybe some other ps2 games also but I have a Mac so I can’t use pcsx2 and honestly I would rather not get hacked trying to find a BIOS anyway. Since the ps2 digital store no longer exists, I can’t just buy a ps2 but I heard that you can buy games for ps2 on the ps3 store and since sony will be shutting it down in 2027, i’ve decided that it’s now or never and I want to get a ps3 to play these games, I just have a few questions:

- once the digital store shuts down, will this also delete all my games bought from the digital store (I assume not but you never know with sony)

- does the ps2 classics shop have ever ps2 game or just some of them (I already checked that the main three that I want are on there)

- are the ps2 classics significantly worse on ps3 (like are they buggy or broken)

So I dont think its YLOD since it doesnt flash yellow or red, it boots up, and it produces sound just no picture. Im thinking it might be a faulty input and/or output for the hdmi. Im gonna try a different tv and if that doesnt work im gonna dissect it and see if its an easy fix if not im gonna see if i can get someone to fix it. I can boot it up in safe mode though so I dont know if that only triggers when something is broken but I cant. Im still getting the slim if the seller offers since im gonna need a backup due to sony's manufacturing skills for that model. I dont know exactly what It could be so im researching it.

I opened my ps3 and cleaned the dust and replaced the cmos battery but did not change the thermal paste. On assassins creed my temps of the rsx go up to around 77 degrees before the fans ramp up to around 33 degrees. The cpu stays around 4-7 degrees cooler. If I set a temp max to 72 degrees and a min fan speed of 35 the rsx will sit around 70-71 with the fan going up to 37 after nearly 2 hours to keep below 72. Are these temps decent for the 65nm rsx for a demanding game. Some people recommend temps at around 60 in game but fan speeds above 35 start to get annoying.

IT WORKS!! I realized that it wasnt actually a damaged RSX but rather a HDMI output. I used a playstation branded av (For my ps2) And found a converter for my tv and the picture was restored! I knew that it couldnt have been GLOD or YLOD since it was producing sound and would boot up fine. Im gonna see if I can borrow some thermal paste from one of my family members (Hardocore gamer beautiful pc) so it can last longer and im still gonna get the slim as a backup but yeah THE PS3 IS STRONG

(FIXED!!!: It was the usb drive, I used an SD card and an adapter to get the official update and everything was good!)

Hello. I'm so desesperate to bring back my Slim Ps3 to its original state (CECH-2504A). I tries to mod it but everytime it said corruped data so I was so dumb to ask AI for help. It took me to ps3 tools inside the web console I did some kind of Patch on it that got on the usb drive. I deleted a lot of stuff on my drive, reseted it to be like brand new. I gave up so I decided to just install Sony's official update from its official web and it was probably from what AI says 4.91 so it recommended me to install HFW 4.93.1 which was kind of weird since you also install this for moding but I did, I tried with the official update and the HFW but its stuck on safe mode and days the data is corrupted. My usb is on fat32 , mtp, everything, so it isnt that. I just want it to be back to its original state. Does anybody know what to do? Thanks.

I'm selling my ds lite, pokemon diamond and pearl with new super mario bros blah blah blah. I might just go to gamrstop and trade them and try my luck to see if u can get a ps3 but before I do it, what games should I play/is it worth it? I will mod it so I don't really care if the game is expensive

I was playing The Last Of Us and fir the first time my CECHC03 showed a YLOD. i bought this ps3 a month ago and it had 43 days of use when i bought it. After the first YLOD, i suspected temperature even though i had webMAN. Anyway, i did 2 more tries. It showed YLOD again after 25 minutes. i got 2 dumps of SYSCON log and the new log was a 1001 error. Its not like the ps3 went under a lot of use for its CELL NEC/TOKINS to fail, that is why I'm creating this post. if you can help me find the real cause and how to fix it, i would really appreciate it

So my ps3 has been collecting dust since 2017 and I decided to pull it out again and start playing it again plugged everything in and everything was good until I started playing games. My console would freeze like every 5 min into a game session so I figured it was time for new thermal paste since it's never been done before Tore the console apart repasted it put back together and launched my games. 10 mins in another freeze 🤦‍♂️ At this point that means my hard drive with all my orginal data on it is failing. Go into my computer parts drawer and grab a old Samsung 850 evo 120gb ssd I had from a gaming pc in 2016 throw that guy in. Starts playing games with no freezing great 👍.

But here's my question I lost all my old data with the reset so I started downloading all my old stuff and realized I dont have my save data anymore and all my dlc content and I see the Playstation store is shutting down next year in July. Will I have no access to all my digital content once the store closes for good ? Should I go out and buy a 500gb ssd and try to copy all my data from my failing hard drive to it and download everything else I purchased?

I bought the system back when it was released to play MGS4 and played few games along in that generation of consoles. I didn’t think much of it. It wasn’t the PS2 or the PS1 in terms of library. I modded it few years ago. But seeing the shit show Sony and ps5 has become made me think that PS3 is an actually the ultimate PlayStation system. It’s really funny that a 20 years old system can be more enjoyable than current gen. A modded PS3 that is.
