In my rewatch I realized something I never remember in conversations about what's going to happen with the kids when they talk to the FBI.

It always comes up that two people who know Paige knew her parents were spies: Stan and Pastor Tim. Stan we trust won't tell since he's protecting himself as well. Pastor Tim's shown he won't say anything as long as his family is protected. So not an immediate threat. (ETA: I should say "The Tims" here since Alice also knows and will happily speak out to protect her family!)

But Father Andre--the guy who accidentally outed and then gave up detailed information to the FBI on her parents--also knows that. And he may actually know more. When Elizabeth tells him she's teaching Paige about their culture and history and thinks she "gets it" (Andre has doubts), they have this exchange:

-[Philip's] not sure I know how to handle her.

-That's something parents fight about.

-It's more than that. He has his life and I have mine now. And she's with me.

The lines aren't explicit, but saying her daughter is "with her" in "her life" sure sounds like Father Andre knows that she's part of her spy work now.

Completed my first rewatch after 6 years. It is very much still the best show and finale I’ve ever seen.

I feel as miserable now than I did back then because it’s over. Will probably rewatch again in 6 years or so.

One question: I remember a scene where Elisabeth is attacked in her own house upstairs when Philip isn’t home. Did I dreamt that or just missed it in the rewatch? What episode is it?

On my ??th rewatch, only just noticed how much it sounds like he yells “Gaad damn it to hell” in his big showdown with the MR (queen of our hearts), and it made me chuckle.

That Elizabeth has Paige do? The one where she sways back and forth with her arms akimbo but loose?

When we talk about moments that changed Phillip we usually talk about Martha and Kimmy and while there's a good reason for that, I feel this moment gets overlooked. I feel like Phillip's encounter with that Mossad agent changed him. It's the first time he admitted, even a little that he misses home. I can also see that in some ways he's jealous of the agent, who as he says doesn't have to hide who he is in America. He is starting to realize how fake his life is.

The actor plays a main role in the show as an FBI agent. His character is such a dick/dumb cop and exact opposite of his role in the Americans, but a small part of me feels like it gives me closure and peace as if Don Seong landed on his feet after getting done so dirty in the Americans lol.

Hi folks, I watched season 2 in a few weeks after I finished S1, was tired honestly so didn't continue with S3.

This weekend, was bored so tuned in again and honestly, bangerrrrrrr. Again. They keep getting it right.

A little background, I'm from 🇮🇳, and the spy/mission based shows here obviously wrap up quickly and are a little overdone. Always focused on showing the impossible being possible. So this, what TA offers to me is very fresh.

My favourite thing about S3 is the emotions. The human side of things regardless. I for a good amount of time felt Elizabeth is the closest to a heartless machine, especially when in contrast we kept seeing scenes of Philip having a mind of his own. I think I still feel Elizabeth is like that, but so much progress as a character this season. Add to it the emotions on display by Sandra and Stan. And other side characters too.

Whatever little or enough, they've focused on developing everyone's story bit by bit. Really love Phil and Eli, the couple's arc as well. Wanting things for the other, consideration, all of that.

And Oleg, Nina and co, hell yeah man, give me more frames of Arkady smoking, that's a walking genio right there.

Last time, I'd said in (post/comments) about wanting more screentime on missions and stuff like that, I think I was happy this time around, with S3, but more importantly, I'm willing to see just this much going forward because I have now come to terms with the scope of the show, it'll offer me more depth in characters and their journeys and struggle behind every choice when you're screwed either ways rather than oh look a mission lasted 3 episodes.

Intimate scenes of Philip & Eli are sooooo good, helps they were dating? back then.

AND OH MY GOD, SANDRA IS SOOOOOOO FINE, Beeman man, no matter how bad your life undercover was, if above cover this is what you have waiting at home....

(Kidding, but man!)

I loved the car chasing sequence, they had something similar in S2 end too I think, every scene where it puts the characters in thought, doubt, absolutely love them..

I have more in my head but I'm unable to think further, what a beautiful show...

I’ve seen the leftovers. I’m trying to watch Ozark currently, but I’m not finding it as gripping. I much prefer dramas and thrillers. I’d be open to maybe sci-fi if it captures the same emotional depth as the Americans. I tried getting into FAM on Apple but it’s not as captivating for me. Ive seen 4 episodes so far.

Over all I enjoyed it. There was some parts that I thought were quite slow or were they kind of dropped the storyline a bit and could’ve done better, but overall I love the characters and stories. I think the final episode really pulled it together well and made the show worth watching, it was a really great final episode, with great actors

My wife thinks I’m nuts for watching the show more than once. She’s seen The Americans, too, and I think it doesn’t show up in her top ten. How do I convince her that watching the show on repeat isn’t a bad thing?

There’s no other show that sticks the landing like this show. The last three episodes of the final season are the best of the best.

That is all, just an appreciation for this amazing show going out at the absolute game top of its game.

I'm watching the show for the first time and I'm on episode 12 of season 1 and Martha's character is just way too naive.
Like Clark has never even showed her where he lives, what he likes to do in his free time and everything she knows about this man is what he tells her when they hook up at her place.
She blindly does what he tells her to do without questioning it or by not listening to the inkling of doubt that sometimes she has but she decides to ignore. I'm sorry but her character is a joke 😅

Edit: this post was meant to be a fun discussion but I guess you guys have parasocial relationships with the characters on the show so I'm out 😭😭

I love Martha but I know her story only ends badly. I’m only halfway through season 2, and since it’s an old show this is more of me leaving a comment here to come back to rather than really wanting any “oh you just wait!” responses hahaha.

She’s so cute and goofy, a really pure hearted person. I hate how ‘Clark’ is so snappy with her, though I understand why, because honestly she’s so low maintenance. Like she respects Clark’s ‘job’ and the secrecy of it all, outside of the one near slip up of disclosing him on the job application all she really wants is someone to listen to her yap and to be deserving of breakfast in bed lol.

Hey guys, just finished my first-time watch of the show. Loved it. A lot to unpack.

I’m also a huge cinephile and really geeked out over the few Russian movies they mentioned and just made this list on Letterboxd (though I haven’t watched any of the movies yet).

So far, this list has only two movies. I don’t recall any other Russian movies mentioned, but if there was, please let me know so I can create a comprehensive list.

The level of foreshadowing in the show is lowk insane, top 3 finales ever man. so so good.

Her confidence - that when Phillip blows his cover what she takes away from it is, “gee, I must be the only KGB asset who they actually fell in love with”. My favorite part about their arc is how it’s increasingly obvious that she’s being used but this is impossible to her, she digs in, and appears to…sort of like it? I’m watching the episode where she’s taken to the safe house and putting it together that she’s going to have to disappear, and she goes, “we can run away, Clarke, far away”, and “I want you inside of me right now”, at every turn her feeling is, “this is a scary…and sexy time for us as a couple”. It’s obviously very sad, but I do have to chuckle at Martha’s faith in him, it goes beyond nativity and desperation, there’s so much agency in it, she’s driving the connection deeper as he’s basically ripping his wig off and saying “this is all fake and I’m a spy babe!” I love to see how torn and sympathetic Phillip is…he’s going to Est and getting in touch with how traumatic his life has been and feeling conflicted about his work, and you can see him toil with ruining her life and bringing her into this world that’s destroyed him…

For all the Breaking Bad community saying that Hank was a dummy at not suspecting his brother in law (missing gas mask to start), I would say Stan's mistakes were worse overall.

I feel like Elizabeth is borderline too pretty for this job. Like, she’s noticeable bc she’s so beautiful. I wonder if anyone has been denied by the center IRL bc of good looks lol like the opposite of pretty-privilege

If P&E showed up into the US in 62-63, how did P avoid the draft? Would he have simply been too old to go like that?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I have always been curious about this and the only thing I know about Vietnam is from history books and my Uncles.

I'm in the middle of a rewatch and what an absolute freakin' delight it is to have 13 EPISODES in almost every season of this show. Sure, some episodes might be a bit "slower" than others, but this show was so, so brilliantly written that even in the "slower" episodes there is still so much going on beneath the surface. They really don't make television like this anymore.
