What running stores carry size 5 womens running shoes?

Upvotes

Any fellow petite women know a good store to try on size 5 shoes? I tried running room recently and they only go down to size 6. Unfortunately my size is generally 5-5.5. I don't want to waste my time going to more running stores if they don't carry my size.

Originally I was hoping to go to a more specialized store that can give me advice and assessments on the best type of shoe for me but now I'm just hoping to find somewhere that carries my size.

EDIT: Would like to avoid kids sizes in this case because this is a shoe that I'm looking to train in and kids running shoes are generally poorer quality and don't hold up well.

Looking for a tailor for a leather blazer

Upvotes

My MIL gave me a leather blazer but it’s far too big. I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for tailors in Ottawa, or even the surrounding areas that they have had do tailoring that has turned out great!

Thanks in advance :)

Please tell me I’m not the only one struggling with this.

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m starting a women’s functional brand and am currently looking for the right manufacturer to help bring it to life.
I’m specifically looking for dry blending, bar making, formulation, and co-packing capabilities in ottawa.
If anyone has leads or recommendations for manufacturers they’ve worked with, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks so much!

Meetup Adult Cheerleading Team Looking for More Athletes

Upvotes

My cheer team at Black Widow Cheer Gym in the east end is looking for more athletes (18+) to join us. It's a super fun way to stay active and learn to do some seriously impressive stuff.

It is a once-a-week commitment on Wednesday nights (8:30 to 10pm) and we attend two competitions late winter (competing against other adult teams our level).

You don't necessarily need cheer experience either (I started at 26 with only a light recreational dance background). If anyone is interested in joining feel free to message me or reach out to the gym directly.

Municipal Affairs I surveyed Ottawa’s 2026 municipal candidates about telework and the future of work — here are the results

I recently conducted an independent, non-partisan survey of Ottawa’s 2026 municipal candidates on telework, workplace flexibility and the future of work.

24 candidates completed the survey — 23 council candidates and 1 mayoral candidate — representing a 39.3% response rate among the 61 candidates invited.

A few of the strongest findings:

  • 100% agreed workers should generally be evaluated based on performance and results rather than where they perform their work.
  • 95.8% said they would publicly advocate for evidence-based workplace flexibility where appropriate.
  • 75% selected either remote or hybrid work as the general default when duties can effectively be performed remotely while maintaining operational requirements and service delivery.
  • 87.5% selected either general access to telework or a hybrid default as the position that best reflected their overall view.
  • No respondent selected in-person work as the general default for remote-capable jobs.
  • 95.8% identified reduced traffic congestion as an important benefit of telework, while 83.3% identified lower greenhouse-gas emissions.

There were also meaningful differences between candidates on whether remote work, hybrid work, employer discretion or employee/employer decision-making should determine workplace arrangements.

I’ve published the full findings report and the underlying public dataset here:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LotJQH0bE6ExSxgUUV_W7CsMjujh6AqX?usp=drive_link

The report includes a candidate-by-candidate comparison, detailed findings, methodology, limitations and the full questionnaire.

One important caveat: this was not a representative poll of every candidate or of Ottawa voters. The findings describe the 24 candidates who chose to participate, and only one mayoral candidate completed the survey.

Thanks to every candidate who took the time to respond. My goal was simply to put their positions in one place so Ottawa voters can compare them for themselves.

Looking for... Restaurant for large groups

Hi All,

I googled this with limited results

Looking for a recommendation for a restaurant that can host a group of 40-50 for a milestone birthday. I want to be able to buy a bunch of appetizers or platters for snacks, but everyone buys their own drinks and meals if they want one. Preferably downtown, glebe, or east. So far the best option I've found is bier market at Lansdowne.

TIA!

Looking for... Looking for dashcam footage 1230ish outside Merivale Mall

Hi all, I know it's a long shot but so grateful if anyone can help us.

1230ish today, wife was turning left onto Merivale from Merivale mall, had advance green signal. Driver coming from Basil McDonald Way, (opposite Merivale Mall) turned right onto Merivale, into the path of a truck also turning left and immediately tried switching lanes into my wife's path without checking blind spot, and hit our car.

Groceries fell, wife was shook and didn't realize the car was hit.

The driver had the audacity to report it to the police and they showed up at the house a couple hours later.

Much appreciated if anyone can help!

Edit: forgot to mention the driver told the police that my wife was the one changing lanes. This is why I write "audacity." The way he reported was accusing her of being at fault.

Odd Request: Where to Get Rivet Replaced for Dog Leash

I have a leash for my dog which which their collar and has sentimental value to me as it was a gift. I'd like to get it repaired with a similar rivet so it matches the other two on it but have no clue about the appropriate way to do so or where might do this sort of thing. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Local Event There was an underground rap party on a boat here last weekend, so I went down and documented it. Ottawa's underground scene has some really cool stuff happening.

Moved here recently and caught wind of this rap boat party. I had no idea what to expect, so I grabbed my camera and went to check it out.

Before moving here, people kept telling me Ottawa is boring and there's "nothing to do." That was not displayed here at all, the event was high energy and the scene felt strong and supportive.

I think that underground art in general is thriving beyond what some people may think, and events like this are so important to keep these scenes alive and growing. Did anyone else hear about this or attend?

Found today (September 1) around 3pm on the sidewalk at Merivale and Burris by the A&W. Seems very well loved and my heart is breaking for whoever must be missing him.

Looked like it rolled off the bench by the bus stop for Bus #80 (toward Napean Woods) there.

Will be kept safe until Friday when I will drop him off to OC Transpo Lost & Found.

I don’t have Facebook or other social media so please feel free to share to other places.

Found your key!

Found this key along the Osgoode gravel path, just at Earl Armstrong. If it is yours, DM me and tell me what is written on the other side of the black fabric lanyard part, and we will get this back to you!

PS I tried posting this to have the photo show up as a thumbnail, and for whatever reason, that option of an "image" post does not show up for me when I create a post in this sub. Hence, the weird photo embodied in post. Sorry. *shrugs*

Buy/Sell/Free Muffins for Ingredients

Post image
93 Upvotes

Hey all, I'm a person who is poor but likes baking and cooking. I made about 20 Banana Blueberry Muffins muffins and am now giving 6 of them to someone in order to get 6 eggs and other ingredients for cooking and baking so I can continue to have food throughout the month. The muffins are very good but I may be biased. It'll be a pickup exchange and the 6 muffins were frozen after they finished cooling. The 4 in the image are the ones I set aside for myself. Eggs don't need to be bought today just not expiring very soon. Same with other ingredients. Located Downtown a few blocks away from Rideau

Ingredients: Flour, Banana, Butter, Egg, Baking Powder, Baking Soda, Salt and of course blueberries.

Baked in reusable silicone muffin cups.

Hello all!

I hope everyone is doing ok. My wife and I are headed up to Ottawa but only for an afternoon and evening,to explore.

What are some things we have to see? I wish we could stay longer but unfortunately it’s just not in the cards for us on this trip.

Thank you so much in advance!

Municipal Affairs Could the large number of mayoral candidates actually help Sutcliffe?

With so many candidates running for Ottawa mayor, I’m wondering if the opposition vote could end up being heavily split. The winner doesn’t need 50%+1, they just need more votes than anyone else.

If several challengers each get 10–20%, could Sutcliffe realistically win with a relatively small plurality simply because the anti-incumbent vote is divided?

The elections are being held next month, theres not that much time left.

As it stands right now, things are looking favorable for suttcliffe.

Curious what others think.

Bank/Riverside back to normal

If you've been avoiding this intersection due to construction, it's more or less back to normal now. Bank is still one lane each way, but all turns from Riverside onto Bank are back to what they used to be. Billings Bridge exits/entrances are restored too (speed bumps are still in the parking lot, though).
