I just watched S01E04...

Blow me away...

This series gripped me from E01, but what I just watched actually freaked me out, and very very few movies/TV episode have ever had that effect on me.

I am not going to say more for the sake of people who haven't watched--and for those who haven't watched--WATCH IT!

I got this series right here on Reddit, so a big thank you to those who spoke up about how good it is!!

REQUESTING Looking for shows to watch with my wife

Hello there, my wife is really quite picky about what she enjoys, and it's been quite hard to find a new show to watch. I'm out of ideas on Disney+ and Crunchyroll for now.

What she likes: mystery, romance, comedy, friendship

What she doesn't like : High tension, horror, violence, emotional conflicts, unlikeable characters, quirky things, anything contemplative, esoteric spirituality, shows where you need to watch more than the first episode to get into.

I'll watch anything she enjoys honestly, except things that drag on forever (no shonen anime with 1000+ episodes)

Series that we loved: only murders in the building, Brooklyn 99, Avatar the last Airbender, star trek deep space nine, The Mandalorian , One Pièce Netflix live action, a bunch of slice of life anime.

Weirdly, Andor worked. Anime is totally possible.

What didn't work : prison break(too much tension), any other star wars stuff, frieren (too completative), firefly (annoying characters, too much tension), Battlestar Galactica (too much tension, quite justified), stranger things (horror and weird), breaking bad (tension), the office (too weird), and I can't remember everything we've tried.

It's very hard to anticipate if something will work or not, but if you like the list we did and didn't like what she didn't, maybe you can help!

Trigger-free comfort watches

Upvotes

My 21yo female friend has always loved shows like Castle and The Rookie - partly because of her crush on Nathan Fillion but also because she used to watch them with her grandma before she passed.

In the last year she has been seriously sexually assaulted and finds content which features this, violence or even police presence (sirens etc) really triggering. I'm looking for light, fun watches for her to try - she's headed off to uni where she will be living away from home for the first time. She is in therapy and is being well supported, I just want some nice, light distraction to put at her fingertips for when she wants it.

I ruled out Firefly due to the violence, suggested Psych, The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, Somebody Somewhere (which she turned down because of the grieving theme), Gilmore Girls.

Any other suggestions?

Lovesick - favorite 30 minutes love comedy

The short comedy about love and relationship that I think is the best I have seen are

Lovesick
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4051832/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_lovesick

I would have suggested Starstuck, too (but rules say only one title)

What are your favorites?

Shows with incredibly fast, dense, yet tight writing

I'm in the mood for something that's going to make me feel like I just studied French philosophy for hours or like I was prepping for the LSAT. Fast, witty, dense, layered, intelligent...all words to describe the vibe. Basically the opposite of lowest common denominator, "dumbed-down" shows. Thank you!

REQUESTING Could you lot please recommend me some tv shows?

I’m into stuff like The Gentlemen — although I’m waiting for season 2. In the meantime, I’ve been looking for shows involving drugs, crime, elaborate escapes, exploiting loopholes to generate exponential returns, dodgy dealings, money laundering… basically anything involving money 😂.

Then there’s the teen-drama side of things, like The Inbetweeners. It was so different from my own school culture that it kept me curious every episode.

Or if we come to romantic side I think I liked this last letter from ur lover or Lady Chatterley's Lover

The Thick of It, I think it’s the accent that keeps me seated mostly like the dry wit or explicit language idk it is funny. Otherwise, I’d probably have gotten distracted and hopped onto the next one already

And I am really open for some good suggestions so I will keep myself busy in my free time.

REQUESTING Looking for a show that makes you lock in immediately (other than The Pitt or Dark)

I’m looking for a show that hooks you right away and doesn’t let you go. I’ve already watched The Pitt, The Bear, Dark, Mr. Robot, Severance, Pluribus and Breaking Bad. I just need something that’s going to hook me in immediately.

TV shows like friends

Hi, I'm not sure if this has been asked before but i'd like some suggestions about tv shows like friends or b99 or anything really that has romance that is a major part of the plot but please NO CHEATING. I liked the shows such as one tree hill and all but the cheating is distasteful to see. I would like early 2000s shows because i like the way the shows look, they have a certain charm i suppose but any year is alright. Love triangles are also not preferred but u can still recc them.

Thank you

REQUESTING TV shows that set sometime between the 90s and 2010s

I'm not exactly sure how to describe what I'm looking for, but I want shows where an intriguing plot revolves around a main storyline or mystery etc.

For example in Veronica Mars, Veronica was trying to uncover the truth behind her friend's death, and the 1st season generally revolved around that. On the other hand, I love Sex and the City and Skins but they're more focused on the characters' lives and everyday events, so they're not quite what I'm looking for.

REQUESTING A show with thriller, maybe some action, sex, not depressing and keeps you engaged with goals

Upvotes

I know I basically described reached but I’m craving more.

To give you an idea of the type of things I’ve been keeping up with:

Reacher
Lanterns
Peacemaker
Invincible
The boys
Daredevil
His & hers
Paradise
Game of thrones
Vikings

-probably point suggesting superhero shows, I’m upto date with all the marvel and dc stuff.
-True detective was good but honestly lost my attention half way through. Lanterns is the perfect 1 in that regard since it has the long term mystery plot stuff, but also “junk food” type material in the middle as well as an up beat vibe at times so it doesn’t get too depressing.

Also sex would be nice, just to get my second brain hooked. Bonus points if there’s oral or other kinkier or “weird” stuff.

And some humour at times.

Edit: currently watching the movie Polar(2019). This is fucking perfect and exactly what I’m looking for but show form.

Looking for recommendations: Light, feel-good

I am looking for some recommendations to watch between my post-dinner and pre-bed hours. I have around 30 minutes. I am looking for something that is a no-brainer and is warn/fuzzy so I am not too excited to sleep.

I usually keep switching between Modern Family, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, and The Office.
I find Jake in Brooklyn 99 irritating.

REQUESTING Any shows/movies with nice emotional arcs with no romance and comedy?

I know what I am asking is basically a pizza with no sauce or cheese but stay with me please.

I really like Mushishi, Natsume's Book of Friends and the Pitt and currently in search of something similar in vibe. They all have a soft spoken, calm person as their main character so we can say I am looking for that? I want a more mature show/movie without being overly dramatic or the drama being the only point. (Like a single father trying to get by or kid taking care of the family and having to drop out etc.) I find it to be very heavy and not really helpful/encouraging when it comes to mental health.

And for you to understand my taste a little, I have some other shows that I liked without taking romance into consideration. Just imagine the following without the romance in it.

Move to Heaven, Extracurricular (2020), Oh the Mysterious, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Monster (the anime), also kind of Naruto it is not exactly what I am looking for but I did like it, Anohana, Monogatari series, Princess Mononoke, Violet Evergarden.

Thank you to anyone who have anything in mind!

REQUESTING Looking for wholesome fantasy shows

So I know the Magic School Bus is such an old TV show as I get it was marketed to younger audiences.

But man, lately after recalling how much fun that show was to watch made me feel nostalgic for it as I was wondering what other animated series had a wholesome vibe to them since I don’t know where to look for animated TV series that has the fun nature of the aforementioned MSB series since that show ended so long ago.

Which series should I watch next???

I prefer psychological themes but I'm open to anything.

These are the series I've watched:

My favorites; Mindhunter
Dark
Mr Robot
The Mentalist
True Detective S1
Sherlock
Coupling
Suits
Chernobyl

These were kinda slow for me but I still like them: Dexter
Better call Saul
Loki and Moon knight
Game of thrones
The Office \[watching\]

I also watched these but didn't really like them \[they're good but I didn't enjoy\]:
Money Heist Peaky Blinders
Lucifer
Breaking Bad
The boys
All of us are dead
Flash
Stranger things
Death's game
Squid game
Wednesday
A knight of the seven kingdoms Prison break\[only watched 2 seasons it feels so slow\]
Daredevil \[watched only season 1\]
Spider Noir \[watched 3 episodes only\] (should I complete these 3 first?)

I am thinking of watching the Succession, I need 1-2 other series too (psychological theme if possible)

Thanks (also sry for repost)
