I’m working on an idea and I want feedback from actual editors before I start building it.
Basically, you see an effect in an edit but have no idea what it’s called. Instead of trying to describe it to ChatGPT or searching random stuff on YouTube, you upload the clip and select the exact part you’re talking about.
The site would try to identify the effect, break down what’s happening, and find tutorials that actually show you how to make it.
The main thing I want to do differently is make it cross-platform.
So maybe the effect was originally made in After Effects, but you use CapCut or Alight Motion. You could choose your editor and it would find the closest tutorial or way to recreate that same effect using the tools you actually have.
Eventually I’d also want things like saving effects to your own library, finding similar effects, and jumping directly to the part of a tutorial where the effect is explained.
Basically:
See an effect → select it → identify it → find how to make it → recreate it in your editor.
Kind of like Shazam, but for editors.
I haven’t built it yet. I’m trying to figure out if this is actually worth building before I spend a ton of time on it.
Would you use this? And what would it NEED to do for you to actually choose it over just asking ChatGPT?

Hi :) Made "the Sun" today; this is my 2nd day learning. I have zero experience, so this is very nooby, but I had fun doing it. I started feeling more comfortable with the program, but I really want to improve my skills. Any tips, advice, or criticism is welcome!!
Also any cool plugins to check out? At the moment I only have the Mister Horse starter pack

Like the title said I tried to change my zoom distance graph when animating but it showed multiple other graphs including the zoom distance even though that's not what I want and it messes up my animations what do I do? Ive searched everywhere for help but there hasn't been anything useful or with a similar problem to mine. Its already on value graphs too

Hello
I think the title gives it away
I'm using ACES workflow from blender and I'd live to have full screen previews of my comp using Mercury transit which seems to work fine except... it only shows the 'Raw' view; not the view I've chosen (let's say sRGB for simplicity)
Is there a native way of choosing a look for my monitor, or something simple I've overlooked ?
I haven' found a proper workaround; I can do an OCIO Look Transform (ie bake the look to 'raw') but that's just nasty in terms of workflow as I can't seem to lock the viewer to the mercury preview (it automatically chooses whichever comp I'm working on in the timeline)

Full breakdown of how this spider web was rigged and animated in my YouTube video: youtube.com/watch?v=d-6Q6ByH2AQ
Using a combination of Null Controllers for Path Points & Null Tracing Along Path, it's possible to set up a spider web that stretches and bends based on a single controller.
Each vertical line can be adjusted individually, and by linking the rotation of the paths, we can also control the bend of the strings.
This leaves us with a rig that requires very few keyframes to animate.
Is it the easiest way to do it? Definitely not - but it's a good way to learn about null controllers, parenting, and rigging in general.

Hi! Does anyone know how to recreate this effect in After Effects? The blocks start stacked/clustered in the center, then spread outward until they reveal the full logo/image. I’m not sure what this effect is called so I can find a tutorial on google or the best way to build it. Any tips or tutorial recommendations would be really appreciated!

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a short excerpt from a personal motion design project I made about Camille Claudel, the 19th-century French sculptor who spent the last 30 years of her life locked away in an asylum, her work largely erased from art history in favor of her mentor (and lover) Auguste Rodin.
The goal was to give her story the visual weight it deserves — using motion to translate the intensity, isolation, and raw talent that defined her life and work.
Full project on Behance: https://www.behance.net/gallery/254923783/Camille-Claudel-The-Sacrificed-Genius
Would love to hear your thoughts. Feedback (harsh or otherwise) very welcome!

Turn a static photograph into a cinematic documentary shot using Adobe After Effects.
In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to create smooth camera movement, isolate and highlight a subject, darken the background, and build a polished documentary composition.

Hey everyone. I was thinking to have a open minded conversation around Ai and how its being used. If really don't want to make it a war against Ai kind of thread and if all you have is hatred against Ai then please do not use this thread. I want this to be a constructive discussion.
I am a motion designer and before that I was a concept artist so that means I used to paint for hours and make concepts for games and films and also did hand drawn animation, so I do understand the effort it takes and come from that place. I have no formal education and do not even have a degree and nor do I come from a family or place where this kind of field is appreciated or even understood so I learnt everything on my own.
I use Ai almost daily but not in a way that will make me dumb. As english is not my first language I used to take Ai's help in writing but not anymore, I write 95% of my posts and conversations and only use it very occasionally where I might have a shit ton of structure to follow or something
For creative purpose, i do not use Ai to animate but often makes scripts to get specific results, that are either too difficult to achieve or I have no idea how to do that.
For ideation purposes, I use GPT image to generate some concepts and then refine them that said they are like 5-10% help at best.
I am totally against the kind of Ai thats slop and lazy and straight- up garbage or Ai videos that we see here and there all the time with no meaning or emotion and horribly designed vibe coded plugins that are obvious rip-off's. I often write about how Ai without creative direction is shit on linked in but I cannot deny the fact that using Ai has opened horizons for me that otherwise would have been blocked
Would love to hear other people's stories.

Take a look at how I used the new Assistant in After Effects Beta to create a physics engine for my project with expressions. I found it pretty useful!

If your Illustrator-to-After Effects workflow involves recreating text, this new Beta feature should save you some time.
With the latest After Effects Beta, editable text from Illustrator files now imports as native After Effects text layers instead of outlines. That means you can change fonts, edit wording, animate text with presets, and make last-minute revisions without jumping back to Illustrator.
This should make it much easier to work with Illustrator-based title cards, logos, social graphics, and other designs that need to stay flexible throughout the motion graphics process.
If you give it a try, we'd love to hear how it fits into your workflow and what you'd like to see next.
Known Issues and Feature Limitations
- Stroke-only text will still convert as paths. This is a technical limitation.
- In some cases, position will be retained but be numerically different because the anchor point may be in a different location.

Hello guys! My friends and I have been hard at work on plugins for quite some time now, and everything has been running smoothly. We've received so much great feedback, and I genuinely couldn't be happier with how everything turned out
Since things have been going so well, we thought it would be a good opportunity to do something special and make September a little less bitter on the same occasion, all our products will be only $5 for the next five days
I saw the new rule regarding plugin promotion, so I'm going to try to make this post correctly while keeping it short, even though it's not your typical single-product presentation.

Same for all our products, we're planning to support each product for at least 3 years post release
AI-Disclosure
All of our products are 100% human validated, all visuals are 100% man made, no generative AI was used for neither martketing assets or in-extension assets
Here it is, hope this post is not too long and that many of you will be able to seize this opportunity to buy a useful tool for cheap
Feel free to ask anything about our products

Not sure if the story will make sense since I've made that project target medical students at my university.
Everything said aside I feel I am proud of this piece as I am new to the field and I will be happy to hear your reviews and advices.
I did the Motion design and my identical twin did the illustration
We have been learning independently for about 2 months and this is our first project together.
Also I've inspired the eyes from one of Tim Lucke's videos
Edit: I inspired the infinite tunnel by the ordinary folks webflow tunnel🙏🏻
