Someone please tell me what went wrong! I started the step by step sweater by Florence Miller. I know this (the join in the round) isn't right but I have no clue of (a) whether it can be fixed, (b), if so, how, or (c) whether I have to frog and restart. It looks like I'm knitting flat but in a circle rather than in the round.

I really want to make this sweater. Pattern calls for worsted/aran wool.

I'm writing my first pattern and could use some advice. Is it better to hire a tech editor to review the pattern, or a test knitter, or both? It's a baby costume of a jalapeño and a matching hat, so that would be two patterns. As far as pattern complexity goes, they're much easier than a sweater: both pieces are knit in the round, involve decreases (ssk, k2tog), and the hat has an I-cord.

I can pay for the tech editor, of course. Since I'm planning on selling the pattern, I can offer it for free to test knitters (and future patterns, as I'm already planning on a carrot and a few other fruits and veggies).

Hello! I’m fairly new at knitting and am knitting the Purl Soho classic cuffed hat. This is my 4th knitting project and i am trying out magic loop on this pattern. I’m currently repeating knitting a round and then k1 ,ssk, knitting to the last 2 stitches then k2tog round ( repeating these rounds 7 times total). I am fairly certain this happened when I K2tog. The stitches connected to this were originally separated on the magic loop and I had to bring them together to k2tog. Is this a dropped stitch? how would one fix this at this point? Any tips are greatly appreciated.

I’m planning on making a sweater for my grandpa, and I know he’s not going to remember to be gentle with it during washing and drying. Does anyone know of a bulky yarn that holds up well to being put in the washer or dryer?

To use the spin and drain cycle on my washer on my fisherman’s wool jacket I just finished? This is the first blocking and I was actually hoping it would stretch a bit but it doesn’t appear to have. It’s drying flat now and will hopefully be wear ready in a couple days.

hi all! beginner/intermediate knitter here. ive started knitting a balaclava, and attempted the kitchener stitch for the first time (as per the instructions) and im pretty proud of myself because i did relatively well bar the first few stitches. is there a way im able to go back on myself to correct the first few?

Hi! I want to knit the Cardigan No. 11 by My Favorite Things Knitwear.
The gauge is 17 sts / 23 rows using 4.5 mm needles
My knitted a test gauge using 4.5 mm needles on the knit side and 4.0 mm needles on the purl side (I wanted to try this hack as my purl tension is loser that my knit tension).
I got 18 sts / 28 rows
I am using a very rustic wool, so the gauge did not change after blocking (I did not pin my test square). I was kind of expecting it would not change too much in size as I noted it was feeling very grabby while knitting it.
I think that maybe knitting both sides with the 4.5 mm needles might help to meet the sts gauge, but I don’t think it’ll do much for the row gauge as I’m way off.
I’m not sure I should even attempt this pattern cuz this is my second garment ever and I don’t want to complicate things for myself too much.
Any thoughts on what should I do?

The colors were chosen by the person these are being gifted to and I believe the blue is limited edition that was included in my Spring Taster box this year.

I have tried to start knitting many times in the past. I love the idea of knitting, but I find it difficult. I'm a bit dyslexic and I can't understand what the instructions are saying.

I’m currently in the hospital after my water broke prematurely. Freaking out a bit but coping by planning to make two baby hats during my hospital stay depending on how long I can stay pregnant - an apple for a September baby and a pumpkin for an October baby. We’re hoping for the October baby!!! I can’t find any preemie sized apple or pumpkin hat patterns - hopefully this group can help out a stressed mama to be? Thank you 🙏

I'm confused by the wording in a knitting pattern that says to “repeat Rows 10–11 for a total of [I minus 1] rows.”
If [I] is 6, does that mean I should repeat Rows 10–11 5 times (10 rows total), or work 5 rows total?
I’m especially confused because the pattern also says “so that you finish with a Row 10.” How should this wording normally be interpreted?

Hi folks! was wondering if anyone has knit the Blome sweater by Sandnes Garn and would be willing to share their thoughts/color combos!

I’m really taken with this pattern, and like the sample colors, but they’re quite bold and I’m not sure if that’s what I want to go with. That being said, I’ve never knit with Peer Gynt so I’m not familiar with their colors as much, particularly how they look in person.

Since theres no ravelry page for the sweater, I hoped to community source it, and searching in the Reddit didn’t bring up anything. I’ve been looking at the kids versions, but it’s quite a different pattern and vibe so I haven’t found it very useful. edit: I have looked at some projects on ravelry! A lot of them are in the sample colors, however, so not necessarily new info.

side note: not worried about the scratchiness of the yarn/knitting color work flat! flat color work I’ve done and this wouldn‘t be for next to skin regardless.

Yarn dyed on a yarn-dyeing evening at my lovely local yarn studio.

Eyelet lace, Dutch heel, cuff down. 2.5mm needles magic loop.

When doing a new hat design it will usually take 2-5 tries before I am happy.

My first pride hat used a simple flower design but the yellow didn't stand out against the while and the Pride theme didn't jump out at me.

He second hat went better. The solid lines of color easily identified the Pride theme, but the 3*1 ribbing (chosen to highlight the colors) ended up too tight and inelastic .

I switched to a light blue and a 2*2 ribbing for my third attempt. This worked out perfectly. It was a touch big, but a quick trip in the dryer after a wash, shaped it perfectly.

This started with me trying to reduce my stash. This particular combo of colors felt like a perfect fall day.

It’s a variation on an Everyday Sock, incorporating the twisted ribs. My Ravelry notes have a summary of my pattern modifications.

so this turned up for me to test out and i've never touched a knitting machine in my life. i'm a hand knitter through and through, so half my brain is yelling that this is cheating and the other half is very curious. before i open the box and inevitably tangle myself in yarn, does anyone have tips for a total machine beginner? things you wish you'd known, the common rookie mistakes, a yarn weight or tension that's forgiving to start with, that kind of thing. talk me into it, or out of it.

I seem to be unable to follow a pattern without making changes. Lol Sized needles down for a less see through fabric, went up to a large to account for it, added a v neck and ditched the ribbing at the neck, added an extra repeat, and of course, worked in a completely different fiber than suggested. Oh, also changed the raglan a bit to account for the v neck.

What is the best stitch that doesn’t curl, but also saves the most yarn?

Thinking about half fisherman because met previous stockinette stitch curled like mad, and made me lose a lot of surface area for my scarf. I’m working within a budget and wool is EXPENSIVE

Anyone have made both the ozetta sadie and petiteknit cloud sweaters? They appear to be almost identical but am wondering which one you would recommend.

I am newish to knitting. Have mainly only ever made scarves and blankets and the occasional hat. This will be my first sweater!
I'm looking to use a 50/50 merino cotton yarn (sandnes garn duo) - I know this goes against the 'cloud' look for petiteknit but i want it to be a bit more lightweight and I already have this yarn.

Has anyone used a non-mohair yarn to make the cloud sweater? Any tips would be appreciated!

Has anyone tried these out? I think they’re new. I’m in the market for interchangeable circulars—these look great but they’re an investment for sure. I’d love to see some reviews.
