I was absolutely horrified by this.

Has there been any updates on the investigation? My heart hurts for this family. I can't imagine what kind of person could do such a thing.

Animal cruelty/murder laws need to be harsher in Canada.

As the election approaches we're hearing a lot about making downtown "lively" by spending money on more events and nightlife. Prince George already has people doing this work. The best examples of this are Omineca Arts, Nancy O's, the Legion and the Knox. They and many others have been creating entertainment and culture for years. They've built audiences and taken the risks. We should be supporting them, not creating publicly funded competition for their customers.
People only have so much time and money to spend. If the city creates another event, that doesn't magically create another entertainment dollar.
Prince George isn't Vancouver. In big cities, people already live, work and walk downtown. Here, most people have to get in their vehicles and deliberately drive downtown at night. Are we trying to manufacture a big city nightlife culture that isn't natural to Prince George?

Build a better city instead.
Make downtown safer, cleaner and easier to access. Improve streets, parking, lighting and infrastructure. Make it easier for existing businesses and cultural organizations to succeed. Support the people who are already creating the culture.

Don't spend money just so City Hall can say it made downtown "lively."
A good city isn't measured by how busy downtown is on Saturday night. It's measured by whether people want to live, work, raise families and build businesses here.

Currently I work another Healthcare job that is very hard on my body and I am not sure how much longer I can stay in my career due to this repetitive strain/pain. I have been looking into nursing (I am eligible to apply for the Northern Baccalaureate 2yr Program) as I would probably like to stay in health care if I changed careers (although weighing other options). Hello, I don't really use reddit and I am trying to do this for my mom, so please lemme know if I broke any rules so I can make this post better.

My mother recently got some Great Pyrenees/Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix puppies (3 girls, 1 boy, I think they're about 2-3 months old now?) that she cannot financially afford and wants to give them to good homes for free.

She'd rather that, than them go to the SPCA as she has called them and they gave her about a months time before she will bring them there.

I don't want to give her full contact details here, but I assume reddit allows private DMs? I can give her contact to those who are interested.

I don't have images of the puppies as I live in Vancouver and she lives North East of PG in Newlands without internet access and she lives in a cell dead zone, but she has a phone line number I can give.

Has anyone heard if this is still happening in PG? We got a notice about it months ago and have heard nothing more. Then I heard that if we don’t follow up on it they may make us pay for it eventually.

After what, 30 years? It seems Shogun is closing after someone purchased the Coast Inn.

Does anyone have information on who bought it? Are they American? Shogun was going to stay but after the purchase it seems they're leaving. New owner lie? Jack up prices after the fact?

I'm trying to decide if I boycott the Coast Inn or not.

Edit (2026-08-30): Shogun is closing the third week of sept as far as we currently know. It seems a rich guys negligence has cost him money so he selling off our nice things.

I’ll be relocating to PG from vancouver around November of this year. When looking for an apartment to rent, I’ve been having trouble understanding what my actual, total monthly expenses will be since utilities aren’t included in all the rentals I’m looking at. My housing budget is a maximum of $1800 per month, meaning that I don’t want to spend more than $1800 once rent, building parking, and utilities aren’t included factored in. So basically, during the cold months of the year, how much should I realistically expect to spend on water and heating?

Anyone know why Papa Johns is temporarily closed? I have some coupons for free pizzas which expires but it seems like about a week or two ago they just closed randomly and haven’t opened up again.

We ordered from Boston pizza and some beverages from the liquor store, and we're waiting. First the driver called us and asked our address... weird but OK... then the guy called us and said "it's taking too long at the restaurant and I only have a 3 hour shift, you can go get it?"

I'm learning traditional/fine-fragrance perfumery as a hobby and wondering if anyone else in Prince George is doing the same—or is seriously interested in learning.

I'd love to meet some other people interested in aroma materials, accords, formulation, fragrance composition, and generally learning how perfume is actually made.

I'm a beginner myself, so I'm not looking to teach a class or sell anything. I'm really just hoping to find some local people who would enjoy learning, experimenting, and talking perfumery together.

Perfumery is one of those hobbies that does involve gradually collecting your own materials and some basic equipment. You certainly don't need to have much to begin, or already own anything at all, but anyone interested should expect to build their own collection as they learn. This wouldn't be a supplied workshop or class; we'd each be pursuing the hobby ourselves, together.

Of course, part of the fun of having other perfume enthusiasts around might sometimes be sharing a little of an interesting material or bringing something new for everyone to smell. Sharing is a gift freely offered, never an expectation.

If there's enough interest, maybe we could eventually get together occasionally, share what we're learning, smell and discuss materials and experiments, and learn from one another.

Ultimately, I'm just hoping to find a few people in Prince George who think learning the art and craft of perfumery together sounds like a good way to spend an afternoon.

Basically, come geek out over aroma materials and perfume with me. 😄

I’m planning on renting a one bedroom, preferably with a den. I’ve been finding some insanely cheap apartments that seem really comfortable from the advertisements, and building amenities look solid. I’m wondering which areas are best for a single person who wants peace to live, while also having easy access to amenities.

I like nature, so I’d enjoy living outside of the downtown core so I can have more quiet after work. I like to go to the gym most days before work, and often go to cafes to work on personal projects after work. So I’m mostly looking for something that is safe, not too close to downtown, but close enough to civilization commute by bike if I desire.
