Country Dolly Parton Discogs observation

Perusing Discogs and all I can say is, looking at the before/after activity of her catalog, take my advice and buy your favorite Willie Nelson records now. This feels insensitive to post, but thought worth sharing. RIP Dolly, you were an incredible songwriter and human.

Haul Yeah, it was back to the flea market for some more Tom Waits ...and some Creedence, among others

As in my previous post's comments people seemed to lean pretty unanimously on not leaving those remaining Waits records in the local flea market - not surprisingly - and I definitely felt that way too over the weekend, so I headed back there. Thankfully they were still there, so I snagged all three I didn't have already (so, Rain Dogs remained behind for someone else to pick up).

Also got the Stevie Ray Vaughan record from the same crate, and while looking around, I also spotted some Doors and Creedence that I just couldn't leave there.

All in excellent condition, save for the CCR that has some scuffs on both sides, but at least that was reflected in the price. Here's to hoping it's just superficial cosmetic wear and doesn't affect playback too much.

Not one, but two pretty expensive original Samhain records damaged horribly. I am the seller, shipped media mail with no insurance. Sucks to have lost the sale, the original cost of the records, but really, the thing that actually hurts more is there are now 2 less copies of Samhain vinyl which haven't been officially reissued since the 90s. Feels like a crime that I had to pay the shipping for this to happen.

OG Pressing To the USPS Employee who cut into my Sade Smooth operator

A Media mail inspection led to my 45 being cut into. Yes it skips, I knew it would the second I saw the cut from outside the sleeve. I don’t know what “triggers” a media mail inspection. Outside of bitching out my local postman what do I do? When I looked up the tracking number I was hit with a “not eligible for refund” I’ve lived here for a year buying and selling records. This box was like a “castaway” style packaging with a cardboard piece folded in half, which was fine in transport! But when your employee takes a knife and cuts INTO THE RECORD ITSELF. Ffs, I’m so done with 2026.

Record 3D Printed Records

Would it be technally possible to have a record made via a 3d printer? Has this ever been done, as far as any of you know? I imagine that would be a good cheaper way to make limited-run records.

Rock Playing some Rebel Yell today, from the amazing Billy Idol (my favorite artist). I wasn't alive when this came out, but great music lasts forever! I first got this album as a teen on CD. This is an OG pressing, I also have the recent reissue.

Collection I have an all-vinyl radio show

I have a radio show at the college where I work, and I only play vinyl. I don’t necessarily think vinyl is superior to other formats, but it helps me build a setlist if I can only play music from my collection.

Here are the records I am taking with me this week.

Here is D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L by Panchiko.
Bought it mainly because it’s just a good album to put on and spin while you’re doing whatever.

I’m assuming probably everyone on Earth found out about them because of the whole 4chan thing, and somehow I didn’t lmao.

This is a real pretty pressing, and it sounds pretty awesome, and that’s all I can ask for. The only gripe I have is that some of the PVC wasn’t cut off the sides that well, but it doesn’t affect anything.
Bought it from the band’s Bandcamp like 3 weeks ago.

Collection Music Collectors Survey

If you collect CDs or vinyl, please take my survey! I'm working on building an app in one of my design classes, and I'm making one to help music collectors organize their collections and have a list of what they own made digitally. I would very much appreciate your participation!

Discussion Vinyl Browsing

Hi!

A couple of friends and I are opening a small boutique vinyl store in Maribor, Slovenia. We are at the point where we have to start thinking about the kind of display/browsing storage we want to use.

We were thinking about a simple "box" setup with genre labels and bands in between records. What browsing setup do you guys prefer? A simple "box" setup or a multilevel setup where records are in two or more levels?

Thanks!

Spoken Word Random strange stuff, doctored for super sound

I like spoken word, comedy albums, novelty records, sound effects, weird stuff in general. Anything that sounds odd or strange. Or has a weird cover. I've got shelves full, this is a few of them.

Back in the 80s I was part of a .... I don't know what you'd call it.... we weren't a band as such... we were a loose cabal of audio enthusiasts, inspired by Double Dee & Steinski, Negativland and ppl like Baby Ford, Bomb The Bass, Coldcut, The JAMMS and so on. We used to sample a lot of these type of records on our releases. That's ancient history now but I kept hold of the records and still buy stuff if I see it cheap.

I got that Wilma Flintstone Tells the Story of Bambi quite recently. - great crossover experiment. I didn't really want the Josef Goebbels but someone gave it to me as a joke and it is quite funny listening.... screaming nazi propaganda.

I found the LSD documentary album cheap... and then I found the promo version, that was a good day. Apart from that - poetry, sound fx (the air force one is good), Signor Rossi &c &c.
