Not one, but two pretty expensive original Samhain records damaged horribly. I am the seller, shipped media mail with no insurance. Sucks to have lost the sale, the original cost of the records, but really, the thing that actually hurts more is there are now 2 less copies of Samhain vinyl which haven't been officially reissued since the 90s. Feels like a crime that I had to pay the shipping for this to happen.

Rock Playing some Rebel Yell today, from the amazing Billy Idol (my favorite artist). I wasn't alive when this came out, but great music lasts forever! I first got this album as a teen on CD. This is an OG pressing, I also have the recent reissue.

Here is D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L by Panchiko.
Bought it mainly because it’s just a good album to put on and spin while you’re doing whatever.

I’m assuming probably everyone on Earth found out about them because of the whole 4chan thing, and somehow I didn’t lmao.

This is a real pretty pressing, and it sounds pretty awesome, and that’s all I can ask for. The only gripe I have is that some of the PVC wasn’t cut off the sides that well, but it doesn’t affect anything.
Bought it from the band’s Bandcamp like 3 weeks ago.

OG Pressing OG '97 copy, scored!

NM copy scored at my local shop for a nice price and couldn't be happier, such an early press that it was pressed with the promo plate and matrix numbers scratched out before they added the main production ones. 🫶

OG Pressing Nirvana’s “Bleach” – first black 1989 pressing

My mother in law was a punk in the 1980s and picked up a bunch of records through her subpop subscription. When I started collecting she let me have a look through hers and very generously gifted me this beauty.

As far as I can tell Bleach had a 1,000 white vinyl run, followed by a 2,000 black vinyl run. This belongs to the latter.

Super slick condition for an almost 40 year old record. One of my favourites.

Haul Yeah, it was back to the flea market for some more Tom Waits ...and some Creedence, among others

As in my previous post's comments people seemed to lean pretty unanimously on not leaving those remaining Waits records in the local flea market - not surprisingly - and I definitely felt that way too over the weekend, so I headed back there. Thankfully they were still there, so I snagged all three I didn't have already (so, Rain Dogs remained behind for someone else to pick up).

Also got the Stevie Ray Vaughan record from the same crate, and while looking around, I also spotted some Doors and Creedence that I just couldn't leave there.

All in excellent condition, save for the CCR that has some scuffs on both sides, but at least that was reflected in the price. Here's to hoping it's just superficial cosmetic wear and doesn't affect playback too much.

Collection I have an all-vinyl radio show

Post image

I have a radio show at the college where I work, and I only play vinyl. I don’t necessarily think vinyl is superior to other formats, but it helps me build a setlist if I can only play music from my collection.

Here are the records I am taking with me this week.

This album was everywhere for the summers of 95/96! It's so good, with so many hits. This album is full of power, sadness and outlook.

Grabbed this reissue 2LP edition last year. This needs to be in my regular rotation now.

New Wave I finally found a copy of Klaus Nomi!

Post image

If you haven't heard of him, Klaus Nomi was a classically trained singer with a six-octave vocal range who associated himself with the East Village art scene in the 70s and made some delightfully weird synthpop/new-wave music. He unfortunately passed away only five or so years into his musical career at the age of 39 due to complications from AIDS, but his artistic output lives on and it's truly unique. I've been looking for a copy of this album off and on when I visit record stores for the past couple of years, but had never seen a copy until this past weekend!

Spoken Word Random strange stuff, doctored for super sound

I like spoken word, comedy albums, novelty records, sound effects, weird stuff in general. Anything that sounds odd or strange. Or has a weird cover. I've got shelves full, this is a few of them.

Back in the 80s I was part of a .... I don't know what you'd call it.... we weren't a band as such... we were a loose cabal of audio enthusiasts, inspired by Double Dee & Steinski, Negativland and ppl like Baby Ford, Bomb The Bass, Coldcut, The JAMMS and so on. We used to sample a lot of these type of records on our releases. That's ancient history now but I kept hold of the records and still buy stuff if I see it cheap.

I got that Wilma Flintstone Tells the Story of Bambi quite recently. - great crossover experiment. I didn't really want the Josef Goebbels but someone gave it to me as a joke and it is quite funny listening.... screaming nazi propaganda.

I found the LSD documentary album cheap... and then I found the promo version, that was a good day. Apart from that - poetry, sound fx (the air force one is good), Signor Rossi &c &c.
