Ask SurreyBC ❓ Meal prep
Does anyone have any meal prep places they recommend? Something that tastes good, is filling and the prices are decent? Comment with your places and reviews!

Hi everyone, this is an update from the mod team.
Over the past few months, we’ve noticed a growing pattern in certain threads (especially ones about crime or frustrations in the city): comments that jump straight to “Surrey is trash,” “typical Surrey,” “this city is hopeless,” or similar sweeping negativity.
These comments don’t add anything to discussion, they derail threads, and they attract more pile‑on hostility. They also drown out the people who are trying to talk about real issues in a constructive way.
To keep r/SurreyBC a space where people can actually talk about the city (the good, the bad, AND the complicated) we’ve clarified two rules:
Rule 2: Acceptable Content Content must be constructive and relevant to Surrey. No explicit, illegal, defamatory, or harassing content. Posts should contribute positively to discussion.
Sweeping, non‑constructive negativity about Surrey or its residents will be removed. Criticism is welcome with context or solutions, but contempt‑driven city‑bashing is not allowed.
Rule 7: No Toxic Trolling Do not disrupt discussion with hostile, inflammatory, or bad‑faith comments. This includes contempt‑driven, low‑effort negativity about Surrey or its residents.
Inflammatory or provocative content that derails civil discussion will be removed. Users who enter threads only to antagonize, provoke, or bash the city will be banned.
What this DOESN'T mean...........
We are not banning criticism.
You can still talk about:
…as long as it’s done in good faith.
What this DOES mean...........
We’re removing anything that falls in line with any of the sentiments: “Surrey is trash” “This city is a dump” "Typical Surrey people” “Why does anyone live here”
so, generally drive‑by negativity with no context
Why we’re doing this:
We want r/SurreyBC to be a place where people can: - share experiences - ask questions - discuss issues and vent CONSTRUCTIVELY - celebrate wins - disagree respectfully
all without every thread turning into a hate‑pile.
Thanks to everyone who contributes positively, you’re the reason this community works. And remember, if you see any rule-violating posts or comments, please report them so that we can review.
If you have questions or constructive feedback, feel free to drop them below.

Hey guys, I recently got into fitness, especially mma. I am currently a college student and have a strict budget of $75-100. Are there any programs like mauy Thai, kickboxing, bjj, boxing, etc, that are credible and within the price range in lower mainland, ideally Surrey side. Would love some recommendations. Thanks for taking out time to read this.

I’m looking for a Barber who has experience cutting black men’s hair and will not leave my face with razor burn or bumps at a decent price.

Hello! I am preparing to give birth at SMH in the couple months.
I tried finding threads regarding giving birth at this specific hospital, but am struggling a bit — so thought I would just ask here and see if there’s anyone who can help out who’s been through the process already.
Just a few questions (planning to ask my midwife more about this, but won’t be seeing her for another two weeks):
Sorry for the load of questions! Please feel free to answer whatever you can - just really curious as this is my first time :)

Into the Surrey Central liquor store, you really never know what to expect. Sometimes its sales, sometimes its a bag of meth 🤦
Fyi, a 36 can box of Canadian is 20$ off right now!

Hi all,
I will be giving birth at SMH next month and will be aiming for an induction (due to medical reasons) and vaginal birth as recommended by my OB.
Wanted to know if anyone has had recent experience at SMH in terms of induction, labour, or postpartum care. Also it would help if someone shared a list of supplies for the postpartum Mom and for baby provided by the hospital as I’ve started packing my hospital bag. I know the hospital website has a list but I’d like to know if there are any additional must-have items.
Thanks!
Update: Thank you so much for taking out the time and sharing your experiences. While I have mixed feelings about the quality of care, your responses will definitely help with keeping my expectations realistic and being prepared for the worst in case things don’t go as planned. Thanks for sharing the list as well, I won’t overpack.

Hey all!
Does anyone know if there are any sales associates jobs available in Guildford or Central City? I’m going to be starting my first year at college in the fall which is not so far away and have failed to get a job all summer.
I’ll only have classes on Monday and Thursday but other than that, i’m all free. I’m fortunate enough that I have a scholarship that covers two semesters of my first year, but it only means I have to start saving up for my other semesters and a car.
I’ve tried applying to restaurants as I was a host at a fast food chain early in the year but it seems like no restaurant wants to hire. I’m leaning towards a retail job now. Unfortunately, applying on Indeed, in person, and on their websites have not helped.
Please let me know if there are any openings that you may know of, it would be much appreciated! I know it’s the holidays soon so maybe there are and Guildford/Central City seem like the perfect place.

Hi all! Apologies if not allowed, but not sure where else to ask? We are looking for somewhere to board our male, miniature american Eskimo (roughly 20 lbs, 4 years old, neutered) for about a week in November. Our family is very attached to the dog, and if we could bring him with us we would. We also don’t have any friends or family that are able to look after him.
The issue is his nerves and anxiety. He’s scared of children, other than our own. He can also be very hit or miss with strangers. He either completely ignores them, or growls and barks.
He has never bitten anyone, or even come close, however, there is a first time for everything and I sure don’t want that to happen while he’s being boarded.
Can anyone recommend or suggest a dog boarding facility in the lower mainland that can and has dealt with dogs that have severe anxiety and nerves?
Thanks so much in advance!

Wooooo that was a loud one eh?
Had a few strikes that lit up my room.
At least the grass, plants and vegetables are getting watered. They were starting to look a bit parched.

I’m a huge fan of Panda Express in the United States. Where can I get the equivalent in Surrey? Orange chicken with fried rice. I’m afraid I’ll go somewhere that’s too authentic as I’ve been informed Panda Express is not true Chinese food

Hello!
I’m looking to have a small dinner with my parents before I head out for my trip. Does anyone have any recommendations? Any type of cuisine is fine.
My budget is $15-25 a meal. Willing to go to the Guildford mall area as well.
Thank you!
