This should’ve been the Deneb we could’ve recruited in the main game. Disregard the equipment choices just based on the attack types. Tell me what you think?

Image Got 120 Stars in Super Mario 64 for the first time and it might be my favorite 3d Mario now

There were some annoying stars but the exploration, secrets, and platforming puts it over the edge. I don't think any other 3D Mario has the sheer amount of secrets or hidden areas like Mario 64 does. Finding the slide in Tall Tall Mountain or the entrance to the Wheedle room in Tiny Huge Island. The exploration makes it truly unique and puts it over the top. Even Odyssey somehow doesn't compare. This makes me excited for the next 3d Mario because Bowser's Fury was more Mario 64 style. I'm looking forward to it!

Tech Help N64 won’t output video or audio

Upvotes

I just got out my old N64 to dominate my kids in Perfect Dark, lol.

It turns on, light turns red, but no video or audio outputs. Here’s what I’ve already tried:

- disassembled and cleaned the contacts of the cartridge slot with 91% isopropyl alcohol.

- tried using an RCA to HDMI upscaler

- tested on a stand alone speaker to see if sound outputs, it doesn’t.

- tried different games and ram packs

- tried different AV cords and power bricks

Thoughts? I actually have 2 N64s, and they’re both behaving this way. Could it just be my cheap upscaler?

Discussion 4 player DKR gameplay with actual humans, for the first time in 25 years!

Post image

Nights like this bring me back! Friends were asking about my N64 collection, and someone asked if we could play some games. Hooked out my RGB modded N64 and 3 horipad mini's for them, a brawler for me, and played DKR for 90 minutes!

To my dismay none of my other games worked :-( I must have almost 100, but Mario Kart, GoldenEye, and all others refused to boot. I swopped the console for a non-RGB modded PAL console, but not joy. I had a NTSC console but not so many games for it so didn't try it.

I think next time I'll revert to emulator with retrobox, plus the usb to N64 controller adapter, but it was at least great to get DKR working on real hardware.

Discussion Not Quite “Final” N64 Bosses

Post image
419 Upvotes

Thinking of N64 games I played and couldn’t quite figure out how to beat these bosses (and was subsequently surprised to find out that these were never the final bosses anyways 🤷‍♂️😅). I should note after some time away I eventually gave them all another shot and beat these games, but at the time I was happy to find out the games were longer than what I thought.

Super Mario 64 - First time against Bowser I died and thought it was lame they out the final boss so early in the game.

Diddy Kong Racing - Could never beat Wizpig in the race. Surprised to find out there were quite a few more levels to play through after you race him the first time.

Ocarina of Time: Didn’t figure out how to deflect the Ganondorf attacks. Surprised to find out Ganon was his final form years later.

Shadows of the Empire: This level had like 3 bosses, but I could never seem to figure out how to have enough health to beat Slave I.

What’s on your list?

Discussion Best N64 Romhacks (BK and Zelda)

Fully Complete Games:

Banjo Kazooie Jiggies of Time

The Legend of Zelda The Sealed Palace

Short Games (too bad 😔)

Banjo Kazooie Gruntilda's Mask

The Legend of Zelda The Missing Link

These romhacks are fully playable and compatible playing on the N64 and Analogue 3D. Can be played on the SummerCart64.

These romhacks are so great and really stand out from the rest if you love Banjo Kazooie and OoT then Jiggies of Time is like a dream come true.

The Sealed Palace is so amazing and a new adventure which is set in OoT Hyrule a alternate universe. Castle Town is so beautiful and much larger and the music is so cozy and nice.

The Missing Link is a dark sad game set between OoT and MM it deals with sad tragic events like losing Navi and your search to get her back, and your best friend Sarah is a ghost. It's such a real shame it is such a short game and not like the Sealed Palace.

BK Gruntilda's Mask is another short romhack which is a shame but really great which is set in Clock Town.

Now Jiggies of Time is literally my most favourite. It's set in the world of Ocarina of Time but BK style from the visuals, gameplay and environments. It has all the locations of OoT but in the BK style. It fully plays like a Banjo Kazooie game and is a fully complete game which takes around 15 hours+ to complete and around 30 hours to 100% getting all collectibles. It plays just like a BK N64 game and I love it. If love Banjo Kazooie and Ocarina of Time this game is a dream come true.

If you a big fan of Zelda and Banjo Kazooie these romhacks are for you.

It's so great to see the N64 is still alive and new N64 games are being made for these classic series. It's a return to the N64. And what's so amazing to me is that these games can be played on a real N64 and Analogue 3D through cartridges like using SummerCart64.

Update: Please everyone stop asking me for instructions and where to get roms. I won't be telling you. For the protection of these romhacks I'm not going to tell you plus it's against the rules of this group. Just use Google and do your own research just like what I did, or watch YouTube tutorials videos. There is lots of information out there on instructions.

I didn't grow up with this game, and felt like it was probably the highest rated game on the console that I really had no experience with, so I picked up a copy to play it for the first time. I had a great time with it! The game has aged spectacularly. I was kind of blown away by how much more there was to do than in most racing games. I particularly loved the silver coin challenges, and was happy that the coins were in different locations for adventure two.

10/10

My only negative criticism of the game is that it is not very beginner friendly and has a steep learning curve. But it was always fair.

Just snagged these guys from my LGS. Still need to clean and test. This puts me at around 190 for the NA Set. Some of these games are really starting to get up there in price for absolutely no good reason... Glad to finally have Snowboard Kids 1 in the collection though.

So I have bought 2 n64 consoles. One online, one from a reputable store locally where I even saw it turn on. At home however, I can not get either one to display. Red light in the front and nothing else. I got a GAME ON adapter from gamestop and still nothing. Any suggestions. No way both are bad right? Advice?

Tech Help Transfer Pak and Pokemon Blue

Heyo!! I have a real copy of Pokemon Blue and both the Stadium Games. I've bought all of them within a week of one another along with the Transfer pak fairly recently with the Transfer Pak being the latest purchase. My problem stems from the Transfer Pak not registering my Pokemon Blue save with its orignal data, instead coming up as "?????, Trainer ID: ******" when its inserted into the Transfer Pak and this happens in both stadiums games. I know my Blue is real because it doesn't say "Gotta catchem all" on the sticker, the bolt is at the bottom and it says the usual made in Japan Patent pending. It saves like its supposed to when I play it on my GCN with the Gameboy Player and my GBA & GBC. So I'm assuming its the Transfer Pak that I bought recently. Because no matter what I try my save on blue shoes up as if I had no data to begin with. I do have a copy of Silver that reads just fine and is verified like my Blue but the battery is dead in that one and needs to be replaced, I bring this up because Stadium 2 reads it just fine. It also reads my Blue, but still shows the above problem plus the time machine mechanic. I also know that the Transfer Paks were known for being picky time to time. I'm just not sure what to do. Sorry if I over-explained. I just felt like I needed to be explicit with my situation

Collection Trying to go back to my childhood, found a bundle I couldn't resist.

Originally started looking at the original NES at thrift stores and online. Saw a few for sale, but lost out on all of them, so then I also started looking at the N64. I never really got a chance to play the N64 all that much since it was released during my undergrad years, but found this last night on FB marketplace. Post was literally just 5 minutes old when the seller already had multiple buyers lined up. I was able to snatch this bundle after agreeing to a late night pickup. Stoked!

Discussion OoT Temple of Time

Post image

I love the The Temple of Time in OoT N64. It felt like such a sacred place to be in. The whole bright grey atmosphere and the chanting choir. It also felt that medieval vibe. When ever I go inside I usually just stay in the main hallway and usually just walk slow movements taking in this sacred place.
