Discussion The artwork of Paper Mario 64 is unmatched
This isn't a nastalgia bias. I grew up with TTYD, since the day of its release. Ive played every subsequent game or watched them on YouTube as they came out. My first time playing PM64 was in 2023. Ive played it every year since, so this is my fourth playthrough.
This time im really focusing on the artwork, various NPCs and all the dialogue. Im trying to absorb EVERYTHING in this game
One thing I can say I wish Mario had more of, was artwork like this first picture of the Koopa Brothers. So much personality.
I feel wirh the 3d models of the main series too many of the characters look very similar, and with the Paper Mario series to me it feels more uninspired as rhe series goes on.
Im just really appreciating the look of this older game, the sprites and artwork just look more fun and fit the "mario story" aesthetic
Tl;dr: paper mario series fanoy recently played the original for the first time and thinks, overall, it is the most charmingly beautiful game of the series

Discussion TTYD Hard Mode
I’ve currently been doing a hard mode challenge run for TTYD. I feel like most of my rules for the challenge run are solid, but I wanna see if anyone had any suggestions for tweaks I could make to the rules.
Rules
- Buy and equip first and second Unsimplifier badges as early as possible. Unequipping not allowed.
- Buy and equip Double Pain as early as possible. Unequipping not allowed.
- BP only on level ups.
- No running from battle, even in the Pit of 100 Trials.
- The following badges are not allowed (P versions included): Close Call, Pretty Lucky, Lucky Day, First Attack, Bump Attack

Let's Play Which should be my next game?
In the last few months, I’ve recently played or replayed the following:
Mario RPG
Paper Mario 64
Paper Mario TTYD (remake)
Super Paper Mario on Wii
I loved all of these and also enjoyed Mario and Luigi Brothership earlier in the year. I’m running out of options that people really recommend, but I NEED more. Which of these in your opinion should I play next? I’ve never played any of them. Thank you.

Discussion What do you think PM64 does better than PM:TTYD?
I (and I think the majority of fans, but maybe not) am someone who likes TTYD more than 64, and consider it the better game. Not by a ton mind you, it's like comparing a 9/10 game to a 9.5/10, but I have my preference, and even if I'm objective and try to put bias aside, TTYD just seems like it upgrades everything from the first game.
But there are a considerable amount of people who prefer 64, or think it's better than TTYD. I'm not calling them wrong, it's all a matter of opinion, in fact I'd like to know why they feel that way. When I try to think about it, I can't think of anything 64 does *better* than TTYD. The partners, the mechanics, the music, the locations, the story, the writing, while a lot of it is subjective, TTYD wins across the board for me. (again, love the first game, think it's incredible and easily the best RPG on N64 (not that there's much competition)) The only thing I can say 64 accomplishes that TTYD doesn't is feeling more like a cute, cozy storybook, which doesn't necessarily make it *better*, just different, and in a way some people might like more.
I'm very curious to hear from people who like 64 more, and even more interested in hearing what other TTYD prefer...ers think 64 did better.

Fan Art Today, I bless y'all with this view. (OC)
Yeah, this is a pretty shotty remake of the meme. Bombette's 3D model is fucking huge and as such, doesn't really fit inside the car model I used properly.
Also, fun fact to the surprise of no one: The text on the sign says "Ordering from this menu CRASHES Paper Mario". Don't believe me? Here.

Discussion What species are the Glitz Pit Security guys?
They guys don’t look like Piantas, and from the tattles you don’t get much more info than “these guys must drink a lot of protein shakes!”
AFAIK they haven’t appeared anywhere else in the Mario universe. It can be argued they have a slight similar visible relation to Grubba, but the lack of a tail on the Security is a deterrent in this comparison.
Where do they come from? Are they native to a floating cloud now controlled by mobster Piantas? Do they have any other appearances within the Mario cannon? Is everyone born blue with yellow hair?
Please share your thoughts. Thank you

Discussion Vanilla TTYD Challenges?
Just 100%ed the TTYD remake yesterday (60 hours in 2 weeks), and I absolutely loved it! It's one of my favorite games ever, without a doubt. So good, in fact, that I already want to replay it. However, a simple replay seems a little boring, so I'm curious what challenges I'd like to know some interesting and/or difficult challenges I could do for this playthrough!

Discussion Anyone else have an issue with Beldam at the end of Thousand Year Door? Spoiler
I get it where they weren't doing dark or downer endings yet but I just wish there has been more punishment for Beldam.
She set in motion a plan to unleash a demon that would have killed thousands and plunge the world into eternal darkness if Mario hadn't stopped her and she suffers no consequences for it.
That just doesn't seem right to me.
Anyone else feel that way?
