Got a faulty turquoise 2DS XL from eBay for cheap (around £70) but the hinge was cracked, the bottom screen was cracked and would no longer turn on, I saw a post saying Nintendo were still taking repairs on the 2DS XL so I emailed them and got a quote on repairs (£115).

After paying they said they would just replace the item but they didn’t have the item in stock and would give me an alternative and now I’ve just upgraded to a new pokeball 2DS XL.

I sent in a loose game cartridge aswell so hopefully we see if they return it with a case as well as a charger but likely it will just be the console in a cardboard box

Important to note, they can also just sent refurbished models rather than new ones, so not sure if i got lucky with a new one

Sort of decided to unbox my sealed copy of Fire Emblem Conquest just to see if its alive or to refresh the electrons and welp this happened. I'm a little upset since its way out of the return window in Amazon (bought this in 2023) but its fine considering I already own the digital copy of the game. Gonna try and see if the solution to fixing it would work on the weekends.

Edit** And before I forgot to tell. Yes I do boot my 3ds games every six months. Its just that I forgot that I still have unsealed games that I only found out during a house cleaning.

So I finally was able to acquire a 3ds (a Japanese one since it’s cheaper) and I noticed that it has homebrew apps already installed. I was coming in with the knowledge that I had to do everything so now im confused.What should I do?

When does the console shows this screen. Isn't it supposed to go to the home screen after turning it on?

The world rally screen is from the marketplace post. Notice the yellow part that is not present on the picture they sent. Also they said the panels are IPS.

I left my 3ds xl in my backpack for 2 days and when I opened it, there were black marks on my screen

Idk what's going on with my 3ds, I've had it for 13 years and it's been showing these black lines on the top screen, it only shows up outside of games, and when the screen is set to brightness 1 and 2

Hi there! I've recently gotten my 2ds from under the pile of rubble it was collecting dust in, cleaned it it a bit, modded it and got a shiny new SD card.

I'm not really someone in the habit of playing games (sometimes i'll do a visual novel or a small indie on my PC) and i'm overall more of a book and movie guy, but i'd really love to explore the 3ds/ds catalogue and uhh i guess play some games. Would appreciate any recommendations.

For context, I bought a 3ds to repair it, and have done well so far! Needed a new top screen, easy enough (yes even with the fishing through the hinge, which was the worst part). Issue is, however, it will only stay on for a second or two, make a loud "thump" (such a technical term, no idea how to describe the sound...)and shut off. Noticed on the bottom screen ribbon cable there's a gap on one side it looks like, between the end and the rest of the cable, like a portion got worn off. Whats the chance this is causing the no start? Every other ribbon checks out, at least from what I saw!

If so, guess I get ANOTHER screen...

I had no idea what caused this issue, but when it first appeared I tried replacing the pcb of the dpad. Yet that didn't do anything, so I decided to unplug all 3 forms of navigating the 3ds (Circle Pad, C-Stick, & Dpad) but the issue still occurs. And it isn't the touch screen as nothing is bending it or interacting with it

I don't know what to do, and there isn't anywhere near me that can repair 3DS consoles.

My blue new 3ds xl paint has peeled off in some places and is pretty beat up, and when looking to buy replacements I couldn't really find anything because of reviews saying the housing was either too big or too small, so I wanted to ask: where can I buy reliable replacements?

So I've had my 2DS since I was around 5 and i can't exactly remember if I had put a screen protector on it or not, and I've been looking pretty much everywhere for a straight answer but haven't gotten one. Anyways, here's the 2DS (please excuse the damage.)

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I’m looking for a carry case for a New Nintendo 3DS XL/LL that can comfortably fit it while it’s got a clear shell/TPU shell on it. I was just wondering if anyone had recommendations or anything that’s popular to use for it!

i think the title is pretty simple by itself, but i was playing on my 3ds some ocarina of time 3D to prepare myself for the remake and started a new game. played a bit of the story and when i reached goron city i was about to enter the dodongo’s cavern dungeon and saved right after that. upon entering the dungeon i got this screen, seemed like the game bugged out and i thought no big deal since i had just saved, went forward to try my luck with the dungeon again, and it gave me the same screen which worried me cuz then that crash wasn’t random since it happened at the same moment.

i think you guys in the community already know but it’s still worth noting this is a modded 3ds and haven’t had any issue completing any other games on my 3ds, which is a lot. this is the first time i’ve ever encountered a screen like this since modding my device 2 years ago.
is this a problem with my system or the rom i could be using?

update: it happened a third time and this time completely booted me to the main menu, im not sure what to do :/

i do also have a switch lite in which i could play ocarina on the n64 app, but i find the remake a lot better when it comes to ui item placement and gyro controls for aiming so i hope this is recoverable and i could keep playing on my 3ds save

I picked up this new 3DS (non-XL) a few months ago and noticed a crack on the bottom portion of the hinge last night.

I'm going to keep an eye on it, most of the hinge failure photos I've seen are close to the triggers so I don't know how likely it is to a complete failure.

I also don't even know if they make shells for this model.

I want to play something that’s like, “this is the game you MUST play before you die.” I’ve played the popular titles like Tomodachi, Animal Crossing, the Mario titles, I’m wondering if there’s anything out there I need to experience. :] preferably not something with a long term daily commitment (like the aforementioned tomodachi and AC), a story game would be nice..?
