ADVICE Do bisexuals suppose to consider other-sex friends as same sex?

Upvotes

I’m BI woman in relationship with bisexual man, so we’re talking about our values about relationships. He said bisexual peoples are able to be attracted any gender in common situations, so he said that how bisexual men treated women should be regarded as the same as how heterosexual peoples treated their same-sex friends. He especially hangs out often with female friends. I’m not trying to control his relationship with the female, but he and his friends made me feel hurt, so I talked about his relationship with the opposite sex, and that’s what he said.

DISCUSSION Why do people think bisexuals arent oppressed?

I'm curious to hear other bisexual peoples thoughts. Online, and sometimes in person, I see a lot of people assuming bisexuals are safer than other members of the community.

I dont know where yall are from. But here in australia bisexual people are the most marginalised sexuality. Im not just saying that. Statistically, we are the worst off.

Ive even see people accuse bisexuals of literally opressing them in comments sections. Over basic disagreements

Ive had people assert that im not an authority on gay experiences because im bi. And I've literally been in long term same gender relationships. But apparently being Bi erases that.

It's just bizarre to me to go online and see so many people acting like bisexuals dont have it hard.

I pin a lot of this on "people on the internet suck" as most of my in person interactions with other lgbt+ people are much nice.

Would love to hear some fellow bisexual folks thoughts.

ADVICE Bi girl with a straight boyfriend but I keep thinking I want a bi boyfriend?

I’m a bi woman and I’ve been with my boyfriend for nearly 5 years. He’s straight and lately I keep thinking I’d probably be happier with a bisexual guy, but I can’t work out if that’s actually about bisexuality or if I’m just becoming unhappy in my relationship.

Before I met him I was 100% planning to date women. I’ve had to remind him a few times that I’m bisexual and that if I hadn’t met him I probably would have had a girlfriend. He can also be a bit low key homophobic sometimes which obviously doesn’t help.

I think one of the things I’m struggling with is that some of his really stereotypically straight man behaviour gives me the ick. He can be very masculine in a way that feels performative sometimes, gets insanely emotional over football, etc, and I just find myself wishing I was with a guy who was more comfortable with femininity and queerness.

We also haven’t had sex in a really long time, mostly because I just don’t feel very sexually attracted to him at the moment. I think when he says things that upset me they stay with me way longer than he realises. He seems to think if we argue and then make up, everything just goes back to normal, whereas for me I’ll still be thinking about something he said months later.
Like he’s made comments about my weight before and I still think about them every time I look at myself now. To him I think that conversation is just over and done with, but for me it changed how I feel around him and how attractive I feel.

Then last night we had this stupid argument about the bathroom which I know sounds minor but it really wound me up.
He gets piss around the toilet all the time and then keeps asking why the bathroom smells. Last night he asked again and I snapped and basically said “because it smells like piss, because you keep pissing on the toilet.”
Then he asked me how he was supposed to clean it and I got even more annoyed because we’ve lived together for like 3/4 years and I’ve told him multiple times how to clean the bathroom. He’s also literally said before that I clean the bathroom better than him, like i was born with better bathroom cleaning skills that him, what?!.
I basically said if I didn’t exist he would somehow work out how to clean a toilet, so why is it suddenly my responsibility to know more about cleaning than he does, he cleans the kitchen fine so he’s got common sense?

He then said I was being a bitch because he’d “only asked two questions”, why it smelled and how to clean it, but from my point of view they weren’t just two random questions because we’ve had the exact same conversations multiple times already.

And I KNOW this isn’t because he’s straight. A bisexual guy can obviously also be messy, misogynistic, lazy, masculine, annoying etc. I’m not imagining bisexual men as some magical perfect species lol.
But I keep thinking about being with a guy who is bi and more feminine/androgynous and just more comfortable with that side of himself. Someone I could talk about men and women being hot with, someone who actually understands bisexuality without me having to explain it, someone who doesn’t seem so invested in being A Man all the time.

Basically I think I want a slightly twinky bisexual boyfriend lol.

Except there’s ANOTHER layer because sometimes I genuinely can’t tell if I want to be with that kind of guy or if I want to be that kind of guy.
From about 14-17 I had a really wobbly period where I desperately wanted to be a boy. That mostly went away, but I still sometimes look at feminine/androgynous men and get that “do I want him or do I want to look like him?” thing.

So now I’m just confused about all of it.

Do I specifically prefer feminine/queer men?

Would I genuinely feel more understood dating another bisexual person?

Am I projecting everything I dislike about my boyfriend onto “straight men” and imagining a bi boyfriend would fix it?

Is some of this actually about my own gender expression?

Or am I just falling out of love with my boyfriend and trying to explain it through sexuality?

The annoying thing is I don’t actually particularly want to leave him. He is a good person in a lot of ways. He’s kind, stable, dependable, we’ve been together a long time and built a life together.

But then I also keep thinking… is kind and stable enough if I’m not sexually attracted to him anymore and I’m increasingly getting annoyed/resentful about parts of who he is?

And I’m also terrified that I’m just being really picky. Like what if I leave a fundamentally decent boyfriend because I’m imagining this perfect queer guy and then end up with someone way worse?

Would really love to hear from bi women who’ve dated both straight and bisexual men, or anyone who’s had the whole “do I want them or do I want to be them?” confusion.

Did dating another bisexual person actually feel different for you? And does this sound like a sexuality/compatibility thing or does it sound like I’m just unhappy in my relationship?

QUESTIONING Unsure of the future

Hello everyone,

(29M here) I honestly don't even know where to start.

I have been a straight man for most of my life, but I watched trans porn (which i also consider straight, as trans women are women), then, 4 years ago i met this exquisite human being that made me fall in love, and he's a guy.

We've been together for the past 3.5 years, and we're somewhat open. He pushes me to be my best version, and I do love him. In the meantime, i also realized why i became bisexual.

Now, he wants to buy a house together, and although i do love him, i don't feel ready to get a freaking 200k debt on my shoulders...

Lately, i have been spiraling a lot into weird sexual thoughts due to this.

I do prefer women bodies (by far) over men, and i still crave to have more experience with women....

I was open with him about this, so now we're also thinking of going to sex positive parties, etc.. but this scares me too, because god knows what sort of STDs roam freely around there...

I am now thinking that i should start using prostitutes service (it's legal where we live) in order to understand that i am miserable, and not wanting to buy a house is because i am wrong and miserable.

I don't even know if i am asking something in particular. I just wanted to know if someone felt the same at some point or is currently in a similar situation, and what was/is their approach...

Sorry for the rant, I'll prolly delete this post in a couple of weeks...

ADVICE Is the 1 in 10 theory true?

A long time ago I read an article that said that 1 in 10 straight men would accept a NSA blow job from another man.

How true is that? I am bi-curious with very little experience, into finding another str8 but bi-curious man who would let me play with his body, no reciprocation necessary.

I though it would be easy, but reality has demonstrated that it's actually very hard, pun intended.

Any tips?

DISCUSSION Is this normal?

So long story short me (M21) and my long term girlfriend broke up about a month ago, it was messy because I was already planning on proposing. I’ve always known I’m bi, but never had the chance to experience anything with another guy because of how long the relationship lasted, the point is that I downloaded grindr just to try and I meet with this incredibly cute dude (18) that’s like literally the perfect femboy, we had sex and it was amazing, and after that we continued to meet for the whole past week and it’s literally heaven, sex is awesome and we are really getting along.

The point is that during this week that I’ve been going out with him I’ve literally felt the urge to improve my life to be better, started searching for a full time job (just graduated a couple months ago) and literally felt the need to be better in every aspect of my life, something that I’ve never really felt with my ex, so my question is, what does this mean, are girls overhyped or did I just found the love of my life?

ADVICE Are feminine men still attractive pt 2??

So I thought about a lot of things for while and I realized a few things from a previous post with a similar title. As an androgynous guy, I would say I’m pretty niche, not many people are interested in me lol. I know I shouldn’t let that bother me and I should just hope for someone I’m attracted to and is attracted to me.

As for the things I realized:
It’s less about how I view myself and more how I deal with other people’s opinions I guess?? Because of how unpopular I am with most ppl and especially how my own(mlm) community, it starts feeling wrong and delusional for me to feel attractive?

There are a very few guys that I am attracted to and likewise but they only want hookups , which I’m not really looking for. Then I remember I don’t really know how to go about dating. Like do I just talk with guys I find attractive despite not knowing their orientation? Join clubs at my uni? Apps??? I really don’t know how ppl do it

I also haven’t rlly seen any guys I am attracted to explicitly say they are into guys like me unlike other groups of people, which might just be what I surround myself with but still my reality regardless.
I also just have this weird aspiration to be hot to everyone despite not being attracted to anyone.

I’m also posting here again cause of how hostile gay men can be with topics surrounding gnc men and how weirdly there are guys who look for these posts to make gnc men feel bad. I really do feel a lot safer and understood with the bi’s than the gays, wish I was also into women lol. As with the advice I’m really looking for, I kinda wanna know how dating or meeting ppl works after uni or what I can do during uni to meet ppl and hopefully a verse nerdy jock himbo oxymoron of a partner(one can dream). Or how to be okay accepting that I’m not desirable by many ppl and the guys I’m attracted to, cause sometimes I feel like I’m confirming it’s doomed it if I accept it. Also what do you find attractive in androgynous, feminine, or just men in general. Kinda wanna experiment with my style a bit and I need some ideas!

I know therapy and stuff would be helpful for me but rn I feel like I need some advice from people who lived life or just whoever rlly. I was kinda ostracized a bit my whole life for the same reasons lol so I never got the chance to learn stuff like this.

Again I know dating isn’t my whole life, its just something that’s on my mind more cause I have everything else locked in fs except dating, and I would love to be able to figure that out and have a verse nerdy jock himbo oxymoron of a partner to show things to.

ADVICE I am bisexual but I don’t necessarily agree with the LGBT movement and it upsets me. Are there other people like this?

I’m 19F and I am bisexual. I have know this since I was about 12, but I only recently started really thinking about it and taking it more seriously since I am an adult.

Before I upset someone with this post - I am NOT homophobic, transphobic or anything of that sort. I think every human being, no matter whether they align with my world view and my values, should feel safe and should never be bullied or harassed for who they are.

That being said, I don’t like the LGBT as a MOVEMENT/ideology. I don’t like pride parades. I don’t like the way the LGBT community is tied into politics, associated with being left wing and other political ideas that I just simply do not agree with (some of them obviously, I dislike conservatives just as much). I don’t wanna go into details about this because that’s not the point of this post. Just to clarify - I understand how much the community has done to gay people historically and that they truly have changed the world for the better in many aspects - I just, personally, without trying to offend anyone, feel like the community is not currently representing itself in a very positive way.

I am upset, because I would really like to have a relationship with a woman some day. I have only dated men before (having some romantic interactions with women but they were never serious). My concern is that my unwillingness to identify myself with that community and with that movement just eliminates my chances with 99% of non-heterosexual women, because they are often very very into that community and I feel like the ideological differences would be very hard to ignore in a relationship like this.

I would like to get some advice, especially because I am basically closeted. My friends know that I have attraction to both women and men because I have subtly brought it up, but they’re straight so they can’t really help me in that manner.

Are there any people here that are in a similar situation, or maybe dated someone who had similar beliefs? I don’t want to act like political beliefs are very important to me, because they aren’t. I think you can have a relationship while having different views as long as you’re respectful about it, but I just feel like there is a large number of queer people who just don’t agree.

I really hope this post doesn’t come off as disrespectful and doesn’t upset anybody, that is not my goal at all.

DISCUSSION idk if my mom supports

Well I came out to her a week ago ish~ and since then she keeps telling me not to “label” myself and that I’m too “young” to pick a sexuality. I’ve liked many girls/women before ( and men) , and when I asked her if she supported lgbtq, she just said that she has “no opinion?” I’m not sure if she’s homophobic or like idk 😭.

QUESTIONING Como os gustaría conocer a vuestro chico?

QUESTIONING I’m so incredibly scared and confused that I might be bi - hocd is ruining my life

So I’m a 16M, growing up I was only ever interested in women and developed tons of deep emotional crushes on women over the years. I never questioned ever, I was straight and completely comfortable being straight. As I matured a little bit I started to venture past the regular vanilla porn I started out with (lesbian stuff mostly). I’ve always had a transformation kink. Not me being transformed, just spectating soemthing changing or corrupting in a major way. As I discovered trans and sissy porn I realized it hit this fetish super intensely. Eventually I just saw gay porn and that was also activating the fetish. It’s like in my head the idea of a man bottoming equates to him being emasculated and transformed into a “lesser man”. Of course I know this isn’t true, it’s just fetishized stuff in my head. I ended who developing hocd because I saw online that this meant you were gay and in denial and my mind latched onto that idea, it’s been a year and I’m constantly questioning myself and whether I’m in denial. It’s so weird because it’s almost like I can’t feel anything. In the gay porn the men might be attractive but then again they might not? It’s almost like the idea of it is really hot but the man itself isn’t attractive. Men themselves do nothing for me. I don’t like flat chests or body hair, traditionally masculine traits freak me out a little. I will admit I have some internalized homophobia, the idea of being bi does scare me a little and make me feel like I’d lesser. The thing is I know that I like women sexually and emotionally, the hocd part is just scrutinizing whether I like men or not. In the porn soemtimes it feels like I might wanna act that out while other times it feels disgusting to imagine. Every single time post nut clarity makes it feel bad and disconnected from myself. I can’t lie the idea of being straight or at least straight-ish feels genuinely amazing. Whenever I imagine being with a man I just feel miserable and trapped in my head. A beautiful woman whom I really love is like this crazy nice warmth inside me. I’ve started getting panic attacks over this where I feel convinced I’m gay and lying to myself, usually the only thing that calms me down is when I genuinely can think I’m straight and I think of my girlfriend. I’m so horrified about what this could mean and I was looking for some feedback and insight. Thanks

ADVICE How do I meet girls romantically when I don’t want to use dating apps? (Dublin)

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and figured Reddit might have some actual advice.

I’m kind of bi-curious. I’ve mostly been interested in men, but honestly, I really want to explore the possibility of being romantically involved with girls too. Maybe sexually as well, but the romantic part is especially important to me. I know sexuality isn’t something you can just choose, and I’m not trying to force myself into a label. I just know that I’m genuinely interested in women and I’d like to see where that goes.

Part of me also thinks life is too short to just assume I’m only ever going to date men when I’m curious about women. 😭

The problem is... how do you actually meet girls?

I really don't want to use dating apps. There’s something about putting myself on an app specifically to find a girlfriend that feels awkward to me, and I’d also be nervous about someone I know coming across my profile.

I live in Dublin, but I’m not really a party person. I don’t have a huge friend group, and my friends and I don't go out constantly. My social life is pretty quiet, so I can’t exactly rely on being introduced to someone through friends.

I’m starting to realise that if I want my life to become more interesting, I probably have to be the person who actually goes out and does things I enjoy instead of waiting for friends to make plans. So I’m trying to get better at going to activities/events alone and building a life for myself.

But I’m wondering if that could also be a way to naturally meet people, including girls I might actually click with.

For people in Dublin, especially queer/bi women or women who have been in a similar situation:

Where would you actually recommend going or what would you recommend doing to meet women naturally?

I’m much more interested in meeting someone through a shared interest, activity, class, event, volunteering, etc. than walking into a nightclub and trying to flirt with strangers.

And if you were also pretty socially inexperienced or didn't have a massive friend group, how did you start putting yourself out there?

I’d genuinely appreciate ideas.

QUESTIONING I want to explore men, but not anus

(M21) I've known for about a year now that I'm bi. I'm interested in sexual encounters with men but, I have a really strong revulsion to the idea of butt stuff. I'm scared that it may be part of the expectation. I've have been told it is by friends when I've brought it up which I've honestly found pretty discouraging when it comes to exploring this part of my sexuality. Do yall think it's worth pursuing men with this hang up?

ADVICE What does being "less attracted" to a specific sex mean to you?

Hey everybody. I'm just popping in to get some input on other people's experiences to hopefully help interpret my own.

I'm nonbinary, but for the sake of this, my attraction to men will be "homosexual" and my attraction to women will be "heterosexual", even if those terms don't really mean much to me. i also have OCD so if it sounds like i overthought something it's because i did

I've considered myself bisexual ever since i was mildly turned on by a passing homosexual thought when i was like 12~ i think? but the attraction has always been... capricious? not to say i've NEVER been attracted to men but it's never consistent. sometimes i'm not, sometimes i am.

I THINK it has to do with my sex drive? when i haven't done anything sexual for a while eventually the attraction to men "comes back" slowly. but whenever i masturbate more than twice in a day it seems to all fade for then next few days. When the attraction to men comes back it feels kind of inexplicable i guess? it becomes impossible to question in the moment but when i'm in a "less gay" phase i don't understand my thought processes. i'm also on two different SSRIs so the data is being fucked up by that, i've seen a few threads of people who are less attracted to one sex say they "lose" that when they go on psych meds but idrk.

Also, despite my sexual attraction to men being generally less intense, i feel like my tastes are much more refines. i couldn't tell you my type of woman, but i know exactly what i like in men (pretty boys, usually.). I generally feel much more "interested" in men even when i don't feel attracted to them, maybe it's the novelty? idk.

so i generally think i'm "bisexual but less attracted to men", which is obviously something other people say, but i'm here to ask what those other people MEAN when they say that. is it anything like this?

DISCUSSION I thought I was a lesbian, but past hookup was such a babe that I fell in love with him.

Hello,

I've identified as a lesbian from 11 to 22 years old. I never fell in love with a man before, I thought men looked good but I wasn't that much interested and I mostly dated women. When I was 22 I hooked up with a friend of mine, and God forgive me, that was the hottest and most romantic thing I ever experienced with a man and I haven't forgotten him since. He was a gym kind of guy and I can't forget his arms and his hairy chest.

Damn, after that I was hooking up with another guy and he had a little vein coming out of his arm and for some reason it would drive me crazy.

No need to comment on my attraction to women when I think they are just splendid and their softness is exquisite.

Fuck, I am bi...

When do you all realized you were bi? I want details! 🧐

COMING OUT Im a 14yo M terrified of coming out

So basically i go to a very catholic, traditional and frankly homophobic school. I know a few people who are also bi but they havent really came out yet. Im terrified of coming out because most of my friends are homophobic. My family is also religious and i know my brother and sister would make fun of me for it (Brother,19 Sister,18) My extended family is also incredibly religious and unbelievably homophobic. Also ive kind of noticed a stigma around where im from (im not sure if this also occurs at other places) but if a man is bisexual he is considered gay but if a girl is she is considered straight. I dont care if people consider me gay but i know id face torment from it.

I know ive went on a bit of a rant, but if anyone has any advice, id love to hear it

DISCUSSION Why Soooo Freakin Hard to Find Another Bi Guy?

Honestly just why so hard? Idk maybe getting older is an issue of course. I am 50 and skinny not too horribly ugly I don’t think.
Honestly been bi for quite a long time. My problem was and still is just so picky with guys. Either in looks or they saying the most creepy weird stuff in the first sentence. And obviously not meeting someone 5 minutes after first chatting.
I’m attracted to younger skinny dudes. Not many around the Pittsburgh area tho. When I actually do find a guy. I share pic and then they have no interest. Brutal cycle.
Sooooo then a miracle happened. I actually dated a guy short term during the summer but he moved. I liked him a lot lot. Think about him so much now. And must say now that’s all I want and think about is actually wanting to be with a guy. Basically have like zero interest in women. And will admit I do feel attracted to more guys than I was before.

Just feel even more confused on being bi and wanting an actual BF.

Just ranting. And need to maybe figure out places around here to meet in person.
