First ever bike - 2025 Honda Shadow 750cc - and the owner’s manual said first service is to be done at 600 miles, including a valve inspection. Well, I’m at the 600 mile mark and I called up a bike dealer/mechanic and he quoted me $400 for valve inspection and $350 for oil changes and all the other stuff. I was expecting wayyyy less and I definitely can’t afford $750 right now so what do you guys think of this price and am I being scammed ?

Hi everyone, I have a 2022 Yamaha XSR125 with only 3,000 km.
I’m 1.90 m tall and weigh 95 kg. At the moment I’m getting around 90 km/h GPS on flat roads. Downhill I managed 100 km/h GPS.
In 4th gear the bike reaches around 10,500 rpm, but in 5th it only gets to around 9,000 rpm at about 100 km/h indicated.
I’d like to gain roughly 10 km/h GPS. What would be the best option: smaller front sprocket, small windscreen/flyscreen, better aerodynamics, or something else?

Does "bad" rust even exist or am I making that term up??

In what situations wouldn't it be too bad? (it's project/ fixing up)

What term should is search up to find what actual bad vs not so bad rust looks like.

Title: Installed front straps on my ZX-10R — weird brake hum/drag after install, am I overthinking it?

I’ve been working on turning my ZX-10R into more of a drag/roll-racing setup and installed a set of front straps today. I had the front calipers off to install the strap brackets, reused the factory caliper bolts, torqued everything back down, and made sure the brackets/straps weren’t physically touching the rotors

Right after the install, when I rolled the bike around slowly in neutral, I noticed a pretty noticeable humming/rubbing sound from the front brakes. At first it had me convinced something was dragging or misaligned. I went back through everything, loosened/reseated the calipers, checked the brackets, pumped the brakes, spun the wheel, etc.

After taking it on a test ride and using the brakes a few times, the sound basically went away. The brakes feel completely normal on the road — firm lever, no pulling, no vibration, no weird braking behavior. When I came back and slowly rolled the bike into the garage, I could still hear a faint hum/squeak from the front at walking speed, especially right after using the front brake.

Does this just sound like normal pad-to-rotor contact that became more noticeable because I disturbed/reinstalled the calipers, or is there something specific I should be checking with front strap brackets?

I’ve been wrenching on this bike basically all day getting parts installed because it’s going on the dyno in a few hours, so there’s also a very real chance I’m just hyper-focusing on every little noise at this point lol.

I read about pillions, and commonly the woman compromising. Though, in our situation, I am the man and I followed my fiance. She rides since couple years, including track and competitions, and I got bitten by that and ride now as well.

What I wonder though, how many ride with their partner, each on their own bike, and then also how many use an intercom to talk to eachother then?

We personally love the communication aspect. To be able to talk to eachother when riding. Not sure if that is the majority notion here.

I’m on my lunch in my car and saw a GSX 750 cruise by with an (I’m guessing) 7yo little girl on the rear with a custom backrest. I’m in my early 40’s with 8yo and 11yo daughters. I’ve never ridden street, just dirt from 12 years give or take in my late teens and 20’s. That being said, it tripped me out to see a little ass kid on a street bike. I can’t remember ever seeing something like that before. Personally, It felt wrong to see it. I’m surprised that children are allowed to ride on the back of any street bike seeing as the most defensive rider can get clapped. With me just being an observer, I was wondering how actual street riders feel about that decision. Not trying to be a fuckin Karen over here. Just a dad…

Hey folks! This'll be my third bike. First being a 2012 F800 GS and my second a 2015 CRF 250 Rally. I was kinda coaxed into getting both of them and learned that I don't much like off roading and my honda spent 99% of it's time in my possession commuting to work in the city. After not riding for the past 5 years it's time for something new!

Not wanting another adventure bike I started looking at Honda Shadows. Something at least with ABS but I wasn't to keen on the looks. Comes and goes. After some more looking and reading my focus shifted to the T120. The styling and size are both good and seems there's a pretty decent After market.

My question to the T120 riders, how is it on the highway and in the rain? That's my biggest concern. My plan would be to get some saddle bags and a windscreen for it and take it south, and out west to the coast. Being in the middle of Alberta I'll be dealing with a lot of cross winds on the highway and once I get out to BC im sure I'll be seeing a fair bit of rain. Not to say i haven't delt with either before and I know a lot of it is just skill but will i be absolutely miserable dealing with either on a long trip?

I ride a 2020 Suzuki Katana. Recently while in 1st gear the dash does not display correctly. Often it will just be blank instead of showing gear 1. Occasionally instead of showing blank it will read something incorrect like gear 3. The actual shifting appears fine and im not getting any weird symptoms while riding like false neutrals that aren't my fault or it popping out of gear under load. Does anyone know what might be causing this? If it is reading gear 1 correctly sometimes if I depress the shifter it is enough to make it go blank.

I listed a somewhat rare vintage Honda for a pretty good deal. In an afternoon I got ~20 inquiries and plenty of people willing to pay extra if I held it. One guy offered to come the same day, I said sure and asked if he had a truck or trailer, but he never answered. He shows up 25 minutes late in a minivan. I showed him the bike but I let him know that I wouldn't let him load the bike in the minivan. I said no because I could just see too many ways this could go wrong in my driveway, spilled fluids being the least of my concerns. I said I'd hold it until tomorrow for $50.

I feel weird about charging him that, I've never done that before but there were so many people offering even more and willing to come the same day. I didn't ask for a deposit but the guy gave me the full price in cash and promised to come back tomorrow with a truck and $50, in return I gave him the key.

Should I refuse the $50 tomorrow and tell him he's all set? Do people actually buy bikes and pick them up in minivans? I just feel weird about charging extra because it's almost a bait and switch.

I was informed it was an SUV not a minivan. I'm think I'm going to tell him not to worry about the $50.

I saw this video on Instagram and the crash was completely caused by her own stupid mistake. Yet somehow a bunch of people on her profile are blaming the car instead of admitting what actually happened.
She then restricted the comments so only positive comments are allowed, basically shutting down anyone who points out her mistake.
This is exactly the kind of attitude that has no place on a motorcycle. If you can’t take responsibility for your own mistakes, learn from them, and accept criticism, you have no business riding.
People like this should never own a motorcycle.

So today I was coming home from the gym with my brother pillion. We were doing around 70–80 km/h when I suddenly hit two huge speed breakers.

The suspension absorbed the impact pretty well and the bike felt completely normal afterward. I rode home without any issues.

But now I’m kinda overthinking it 😭. Could there be any hidden damage to the suspension, forks, rims, tyres, etc.?

Bike is at ~300 km and first service is at 500 km. Should I get it checked now or just wait for the service? (Used chatgpt for grammer)

im looking at bikes, new rider here, and this one has really caught my eye. ive got a cb300f from 2015 right now and im abou ready to upgrade it.

this slc 500 looks sick and like a great upgrade. im wondering why it isn't talked about or why it doesnt seem popular, given the rebel's position as the default entry level cruiser.

is there something im missing about it, or is it just not popular? like does it have some major downside im missing?

How much is a straight, no corrosion frame with a clean 22k mile frame worth - $800?

And can I just sign the title and ship it with the frame, or is that against some law or policy? Wondering cause all the other frames seem to come with no title

What do you ride? If you're on a cruiser, what handlebar/riser setup are you using? I'm on an older fxst. Around town is ok but at open throttle on the highway the vibration from the solid mounted engine starts to become noticeable quickly in the neck and fingertips. The forward controls make me feel like I'm always slouching too, even when I'm not.

First bike ever and zero experience here, so I'm hoping to get some input from people with more practiced eyes.

​I've just hit 770 km, and based on the photos, how does the chain look to you guys? It seems a bit dry to me, but maybe this is totally normal. Do I need to clean and grease it already or am I good to keep riding?

Hi everyone. My yamaha r6 08-16 started doing this thing where it doesn’t even crank.. Was able to start the bike yesterday after charging the battery for ~ 5/6h. The battery is not the issue as I tried with another battery. It started yesterday no problem. Took her for a ride for 10/15m. Came home, tried to turn her on again, nothing. After pressing the start the dash lights and everything turns off momentarily, for a millisecond. Doesn’t crank. Everything shuts off for a split second and it comes back on as you see in the video. I saw a bit of smoke from the seat area, (battery, start relay..) The negative terminal was kinda hot when I touched it. I also checked the ground and it looks okay to me. If anyone has a suggestion, please share. Thank you.

I’m looking for some help diagnosing an issue with my 2021 Yamaha Tracer 7 (CP2) with around 24,000 km / 15,000 miles.

Recently the bike has started behaving differently at idle.

Symptoms:
Idle has become noticeably less smooth/steady than before.
The bike occasionally stalls while idling.
It seems to happen more often when the engine is cold, although the idle doesn’t feel completely smooth when warm either.
The check engine light has now also come on.
Every time I start the bike, whether the engine is completely cold or already warm, the RPM briefly shoots up to around 3,000–4,000 rpm before dropping back down.
Once running and riding, the bike generally seems to run much better than it does at idle.
The battery also seems to drain fairly quickly if I leave the ignition switched on without the engine running.

I have checked the battery/charging system and the numbers seem healthy:
Engine off: around 12.6 V
During starting: around 11.0 V
At 4–5k rpm: around 14.0 V

So I don’t currently think the charging system is the main problem.

The bike has around 24,000 km on it. I’m wondering if this could be related to:
Idle Speed Control / ISC valve
Dirty throttle bodies
Throttle body synchronization
Vacuum/intake leak
MAP/TPS or another sensor
Spark plugs/coils
Injector/fueling issue

The high 3–4k RPM flare on every startup, including with a warm engine, combined with the unstable idle and occasional stalling, makes me particularly suspicious of the idle control/throttle body system.

I’m going to read the stored fault code before clearing anything.

Has anyone with a 2021+ MT-07 / Tracer 7 / CP2 experienced something similar?
What ended up being the cause?
And are there any specific hoses, sensors, throttle body/ISC components or common failure points you would recommend checking first?
