This just really confuses me because aren’t they expected to chase someone if needed? Are these guys not provided gear or not allowed to wear it?

I don't know who needs to hear this, but I write this as a rider who understands that sometimes you just need to open up your street bike and let her stretch her legs a little. And what better time than a Monday evening, when the highways are mostly empty?

But just a PSA: when you're blasting by cars at triple-digit speeds, just be aware that those cars don't see you coming. Even if they're doing everything right checking their mirrors, checking their blind spots, being good citizens if you're passing them at 150 mph, you are effectively invisible until it's too late.

I was driving home last night, probably doing 65, in the middle lane, with a car just behind me in the left lane. Suddenly, like a bullet, a bike came through right between us. I don't know if he actually lane-split or if it was more of a tight pass, but whatever it was, I heard the sound, which did startle me. Then I saw his taillight, and he was gone.

If I had been switching lanes for some reason, or even just drifted in my lane I would have never seen him coming. He didn't pause behind me long enough to assess whether I was about to make a lane change. He just went straight for it like it was a video game.

There is no judgment in this post. I get it. It's a choice you make. In that split second, the risk is part of the adrenaline just as much as the speed. I'm not going to get on a high horse and lecture someone about speeding or riding aggressively. I'd be a hypocrite if I did.

But as his taillight disappeared into the night, I wondered: was he aware of the risk he was taking in that one moment? Or did he feel in control of a situation that he actually maybe wasn't in control of?

Spent the weekend messing around with a few weird mounting spots and angles on the bike with my insta360 x6.

I got into an accident where a car sideswiped me after not using his turn signal while i tried to pass him.

I didnt hit my head and my helmet has no visible hit.

I didnt go fast, and the guy that hit me neither. He was turning from a standing position and i was probably going 25-35 km/h

My main problem that i was literally on the way home from the motorstore with my new helmet, so now im kinda broke to buy a new one again.

Is this still alright?

Sometimes I feel like not only ditching the Cardo but leaving my phone itself at home and going ghost… but that’s not “safe” cause what if something happens etc

I had my chain and sprockets changed today on my yamaha 2026 Tracer 7, but I noticed that the axle adjustment block is now pushed all the way forward. Normally, it sits further back so you can align it with the swingarm markings. Did the mechanic install it correctly?

I was going 85-90 in the left lane when i noticed that i was getting a little closer to the car in front of me so i slowed down, but then the motorist showed up out of nowhere and did all of the gestures shown. I was a little amused by it, mostly worried that he’d fall off his bike though, but now I’m wondering what that was all about 😭

I ride in a white/Origami RF-1400, and the bug splatters are killing me in all the little nooks and crannies.

How are you guys getting bug guts out of those really small areas?

I’m tempted to get a steam gun from Harbor Freight, but I’m hoping for something a little easier.

For the visor, I just drape a wet paper towel over it, then spend some time scrubbing with a microfiber.

Random crash video where 90% of the situations could be avoided.

First motorcycle and the tire wear looks weird as it’s kinda “shredding” on the sides, especially the front where some of it is uneven. Does anybody know why?

Recently I have had terrible experience with a MotoCop. To be perfectly honest it was probably my fault, but in all fairness I think his attitude was completely unwarranted and unprofessional.

Recently I finished early from work one afternoon and decided since it was around midday I would hit the local mountain for a chill little cruise on my new CBR500.

On this particular mountain there is a straight flat section that is about 700-800 metres long. I stupidly decided to do a small pull considering the road was completely clear and I could clearly see the whole road in front of me. I only did a little 3rd gear flick from 50kph and wasn't really checking my speed. Next thing I know from deep in the bushes on the other side of the road I see the red and blue lights. I immediately knew it was for me as there was literally NO ONE on the road. I pull over straight away to avoid any issues and just see if I can maybe reduce the damage my wallet was about to receive.

This particular cop pulls up behind me and before I can even say hello, he is immediately in my face screaming at me about my speeding and how I was endangering everyone on the road around me (Just me and Him on the road). Then he gives me my speed 83 in a 60 (Fair, That's on me). Then he starts pacing around my bike and starts listing everything that was wrong with my bike (purchased 2nd hand). Listing that my mirrors were a defect, my exhaust was a defect and my tail tidy which doesn't have a reflector was a defect.

I tried to explain that I had only bought it a couple weeks ago from someone and I didn't have the original parts. To which he responded "wasn't his problem". And started writing me fines that ended up being around $3k all up, plus now I have to get all the original parts to replace the aftermarket ones. Then when he was done preceded to say "have a good one" after f**king me.

Was this warranted, Was he having a bad day, Was I the way to reach the qouta or did he decide to give me no grace?

This interaction has completely ruined my perception of highway patrol, And I was so confused because everywhere I look online most people seem to have great experiences with motocops. Has anyone else had a negative experience with them?

Edit: Yes I was aware of all of the mods, Just thought I would be okay, since nearly every bike I see on the road has the exact same mods I do. I know this is a generalisation. I am an idiot.

But I'm more talking about their professionalism and attitude then the tickets. And y'all acting like you have never done the exact same as I have in this situation.

I told them these get stolen all the time and all it takes is 2 guys with a truck and you’ll never see it again.

The motorcycle has been sitting in the van for a few days. Today I went to the track, unloaded it, and let it warm up before heading out. Once it reached operating temperature, I turned it off. Shortly after, I noticed a small puddle of coolant and that the radiator was leaking from the top center. To avoid wasting the day, they sent me to a store to get some liquid leak sealant. A few minutes later, after buying it, I returned to the bike and there wasn’t a single drop of fluid on the ground. I rode to a mechanic’s shop; the bike even sat for more than 30 minutes to cool down, and in the meantime, it didn’t leak a thing.

The mechanic adds the coolant sealant to the system, and I head back out on the track. The bike seems fine—I manage to do laps for about 20 minutes—then I return to the pits and let it sit while i rest for about 30 minutes before heading out again, and it doesn’t leak a single drop. When the day is over, I head home. the bike is cold, so I wash it. I start it up on a garage stand to run the chain so it dries out, finish drying the rest of the bike, park it in the garage, and notice it’s leaking fluid again. What’s going on?

This is my first bike, I'm getting it in 4 months from now, I've seen a lot of bikes, tried riding jawas, enfields and the cb350s and I've finally decided on either the classic 350, an old bullet 350 or a cb350 hness. My cousin already has the classic 350 and idk if I'm ready to go through the headache of maintaining an old bullet. The hness is my favourite to get rn, and I wanted to get the back rest for it and in red and it looked really nice, but the only thing is, the bike feels too small for me. The classic feels about right and feels really comfortable, so does the hness but the hness feels smaller. I go to college everyday, 18km up and down each, so 36km a day, mainly city roads and the occasional highway but I live near the highway, so I might go very often, if petrol money permits💔 which bike should I get, i mainly care about the feel of the bike, the looks, and the mileage to an extent.

Perhaps it’s because I’m ok the shorter side at 5-8 or because I’m middle aged and not as flexible as I once was, or that I have a hip issue (thanks AVN), but I rarely throw my leg over the bike to get on.

Technically I can get one leg over if I really need to but it’s not that comfortable, I have to be on my tip toes and lean way over — it’s not easy.

When getting on my MT-07 I step on the peg and then throw my leg over the bike. This is a lot easier and more comfortable.

I can get my leg over much easier on my Grom.

How do you mount your bike? What do you ride?

I looked at this model on Amazon for CAD $75. The price is low enough that I won't cry if it fails, but high enough that I don't want to buy known junk.

I know that there are a ton of these on the market at wide price points, and I think most likely 80% of them are exactly the same product, but you never know. Wondering if anyone has used this model or at least this 'manufacturer'

I see so many threads about their first fall/crash and i'm really starting to wonder if I get a skewed perspective on how common this is? The attitude in these threads is also like they treat as you will crash serveral times before you get the hang of it. This feels weird to me and of course there's always a risk of an accident but I don't know anyone that has crashed, including my parents and their friends who have been riding for 35 years +.

I want to add that I live in Sweden and they have pretty advanced requirements before you get a license. I don't know if it's more uncommon than I think or if it's because other countries have lighter regulations and thus doesn't give you proper instructions on how to handle your bike in certain situations?

Was looking at a few options of trading in my 2025 Honda CB750 Hornet with 2700 miles. One dealership offered me $4k and Powersport Buyers offered $2800 for a straight sale to them. MSRP a year ago to the day was $7999. I keep my bike pristine and refuse to believe in 1yr it’s lost 50% of the value

First ever bike - 2025 Honda Shadow 750cc - and the owner’s manual said first service is to be done at 600 miles, including a valve inspection. Well, I’m at the 600 mile mark and I called up a bike dealer/mechanic and he quoted me $400 for valve inspection and $350 for oil changes and all the other stuff. I was expecting wayyyy less and I definitely can’t afford $750 right now so what do you guys think of this price and am I being scammed ?

Came across a crash, paramedics were giving CPR. Not sure if the rider survived. Driver claims she didn't see a thing. Was riding a 'murdered out' bike (let that sink in) and not a flair of bright color.

I got a new to me bike, 98 Suzuki GSF 600, and it does jerk a little when low in the rpm or engine braking, the previous owner also said it should get the carbs checked. So should I do them now when there might not be too long to ride since I live in Finland where the riding season is short, or do it in the spring before the next season starts?

The boys and I ride out late at night often, and ripping sharper turns is terrifying and not something I enjoy. I've been thinking about an auxiliary setup on the mirrors that intentionally shine broad light to the right and left. It's a sport bike, so I gotta account for lean angle.

We'd only do this on the 2 lane backroads where traffic isn't common that time of night so I'm not too worried about turning them on and off for traffic. Might consider wiring them into the high beam switch and just creating an additional toggle switch.

Anyway, wanting to pick thoughts on setups anyone has that accomplish this task. I've seen a lot, but I don't want to throw hundreds at a speculation. I want to see what's working!

I saw in a earlier post where someone was asking if a Ninja650 was a good first bike and one of the replies was - put 10k on a 250 before you level up.

I get it - type of riding, dedication to learning (vs just riding around) and ability to perform certain skills, along with natural skill aside, what do you think is the minimum number of miles to go from beginner to i termediate to expert, assuming that at each milestone enough miles have been put on to achieve the skills (for example beginner would have to be able to smoothly articulate controls, basic low speed maneuvers, safe cornering at lower speeds, basic ability to manage traffic)....
