Roads/Rails/Bridges/Tunnels Gateway Tunnel Boring To Begin Soon

Post image

Looks like they’re getting ready to pour the last two concrete pads leading up to the face of the Palisades. Then they should install the rest of the tunnel boring machine’s (TBM) rear gantries, the cutter head and shield, and the massive metal “thrust ring” that they push off of to begin boring.

Roads/Rails/Bridges/Tunnels I made a NJ/NY transit app that shows more than the official one

Hi everyone! I've seen a lot of people here frustrated with the official NJ Transit app, so I built one that tries to do better.

It covers NJT buses, NJ commuter rail, PATH, light rail, and NYC transit. It pulls data from several sources and cross-references it, so overall it shows more info than the official NJ Transit app:

  • Which gate your bus leaves from
  • How crowded the bus is
  • Scheduled vs. actual train times, plus the track and train number
  • Scheduled departure times for buses and trains, even when there's no real-time data

It also has a trip planner, PDF timetables, offline maps, and favorites without needing an account.

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/new-jersey-bus-train-times/id6762161783

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.oktransit.newjersey

It's just me building it, so if you use NJ/NY transit I'd like to know what you think.

This was a $2000 clue (the hardest one) in the Double Jeopardy round (the hardest round) in the category of US Counties. Amazingly nobody even tried to answer.

Advice I'm exhausted with this home search...

We've been looking in North Jersey and it's been exhausting driving to open house every weekend, speaking to scummy listing agents who won't disclose everything and then eventually getting outbid.

Someone please tell me how a 101 year old single family house with an oil tank, ancient kitchen, ancient bathroom, ancient carpets get listed for $500k.

I'm just trying to start a family man.

If you can't tell, this is at Quakerbridge Mall. This was on a wall where people can display post-it notes from the decades the mall's been around (1970's-present). It's so painfully dumb and pathetic using AI for this, but there's NO effort hiding the lack of quality control.

Cool Is it just me or are we having a pretty mild heat this summer?

Not that I'm complaining but I could swear we used to have way more 90 day degrees in August which I feel like we only had in July then they pretty much passed

Overall it's been quite nice, 70s and 80s and nice cool summer nights this month

Central Jersey Nj transit express trains

Is it just me or do they not exist anymore during non commute hours?

There’s often times where I have a day off and wouldn’t mind going to manhattan…but damn near TWO HOURS??? No. They used to be like 1hr! Maybe just a little over an hour. But 2 is really crazy, and at the price it costs to go in now and get stuck at the swamp.

What do you do with a day off?

Advice Where do I begin to be able to sell at craft fairs? Or any vendor malls?

Hi there! I hand-make jewelry and accessories, and I'm starting to look into selling at markets. I kinda don't know where to begin. Does anyone have any tips or tricks? Do I need to register as a business? Do I need a permit? Where is the best place to find when/where these markets are taking place?

I was also wondering if anyone knows places that let you do something like a shelf rental or something like a vendor boutique? Like an artisan collective?

Thank you! :)

Advice House hunting out of reach in Metuchen

Upvotes

We have looking for more than 1 year, but recently we saw a house in Metuchen that has 2 bedrooms on the first floor,.no HVAC, illegal kitchen in the basement for $700K. House listing says 4 bedrooms, but of which 2 bedrooms are in the basement with no closets, so is it norm to inflate bedroom counts ??? Has anybody else experienced this in Metuchen?
