Discussion Did the group just decide to call Frankie Frankie?
The Dean introduces her as Francesca Dart, and later in the episode Annie calls her Frankie. From then on, that's her name. At no point does she say, "call me Frankie." Did the group nickname her spontaneously and she just went along with it?

Easter-Egg/Trivia I was bored and wrote down the first line of every study group member
I was bored and wrote down the first line of every study group member and I noticed that Pierce's first appearance is physical comedy instead of a line. That fits so well into his boomer role. Here are all the other first lines:
Abed: "I'm only half Arabic actually, my dad is Palestinian ..." (He talks too fast, I couldnt write the whole thing down)
Jeff: "Abed, nice to know you and then meet you, in that order"
Britta: "Ehh don't hit me on me, okay?"
Pierce: "Are you the board certified tutor?"
Troy: "That means you do homework, right Seacrest?"
Annie: "What 'board certifies' a tutor?"
Shirley: "I need to call my babysitter if we gonna be later than 10"
First lines of comitee members:
Chang: "Every once in a while students come up to me and ask Señor Chang, why do you teach spanish?"
Duncan: "Jeff Winger, genius at law!"
Hickey: "Fresh meat, huh?"
Elroy: "Who's asking?"
And my favorite character intro of the show:
Franky: "Okay, I'll just have a seat and - "
Group: "NOOO!"
Annie: "Our friend used to sit there"
Abed: *whispers* "She spun off"

Appreciation Post We are in a timeline where Community exists, we are lucky.
Terrible digital estate throw away art by me for attention
Today is my 41st birthday. I’ve spent the last two months with an injured back, mostly in bed. Between getting to doctors appointments, figuring out financials, and spending copious amounts of time pondering the purpose of existence, I can essentially only be on my phone, watch TV, or read.
This has me analyzing what I’m consuming on a deeper level than I ever have before. It has led me to this conclusion:
Community is one of the greatest pieces of human art ever created.
Human beings aren’t perfect. I could sit here and go through each character’s story arc and explain how they represent little pieces of our own personalities personified. Chances are, if you’re on this sub, you already know this.
To me, the show gives us a small, working example of how we should be treating each other. Always understanding that no one is perfect, but as long as we’re picking each other up when we’re at our lowest, we can not only function, but actually enjoy ourselves in the process.
And I think the best example of how the show expresses this is Pierce. Both the character and Chevy Chase.
For too long, we’ve excused away or simply accepted the behavior of people like Pierce/Chase. I think, to an extent, that’s part of how we wound up with today’s USA.
Community shows the distinction between accepting someone’s flaws and endlessly tolerating their shitty behavior remarkably well.
Pierce has some genuinely redeeming moments. He wins the paintball game and gives the $100,000 prize to Greendale, despite being rich and having absolutely no need for the money himself. There are moments where you can see the person underneath all of his bullshit. But, for the most part, he refuses to grow.
That’s what separates him from the rest of the group. They’re all deeply flawed people. They all hurt each other. They’re selfish, manipulative, judgmental, controlling, immature. The show never asks us to pretend otherwise.
But they keep coming back. They keep trying. They keep picking each other up. Pierce keeps getting opportunities to do the same, and eventually there has to be a line.
Which makes what happened outside the show almost too perfect.
Pierce gets killed off because he dehydrated himself by masturbating too much.
Chevy loses the role.
There’s something strangely fitting about a show called Community demonstrating, both on screen and off, that community doesn’t mean accepting everyone’s behavior forever.
People deserve grace. People deserve forgiveness. People deserve the opportunity to be better. But being part of a community also means making an effort to be someone the community can continue to embrace.
Thanks for reading!

Discussion Chang is "literally dying" because he has to wear a Jeff wig on top of his own hair, plus a bald cap on top of that, with no air getting through
Is this what caused him to go crazy?

Yet Another Chevy Chase Post Pierce (Chevy) Belongs at Greendale
“What i am allowed to discuss is Greendale. And I’ll say this.. don’t turn your back on it. Take it from a man with no legal right to be there, you’re in a SPECIAL place.. a crappy place, sure… but only because it gives crappy people a chance to sort themselves out.”
It never sits right with me when people hate on Chevy, always makes me think of all the time the group tries to kick him out.
“Pierce isn’t crazy… the table IS magic…. it is a scary lonely chang filled world out there”
When we cut people off in life we miss out on a lot of goodness they can bring. I love Pierces character cause we see his issues but then you get to see how being a part of the group starts to heal him at the end of season 3. Teaches us the best thing you can do for someone in your life who is causing problems is to accept them and help them to change. That’s what I believe Greendale is all about.
Pierces character pretty much mirrors Chevy’s personality we all know that, but we just got to remember Chevy is just a Human Being and he deserves to be at Greendale with the group because Greendale crappy because it gives crappy people a chance.
TL;DR: Crappy people belong at Greendale

Discussion Vocal Stims
What are your vocal stims that you like to say out loud?
I like "here's the deal, Jessica Beal"
"Cool. Cool cool cool."
"GAAAAAY MARRRIAGE!" - even though I've had no use to say that ever.. I just say it to myself.
"Damn! I wish Abed was Batman"
I've had one unfortunate mishap. I was doing the Cool one and I said "K. K k k-.. " and... well yeah. So...
Also an unfortunate one that I think I have said aloud "Ain't no party without drugs" when drugs = no.

Discussion Watching every Abed reference
So recently I watched Community for the third time as I watch it every 4 years or so. Every time I watch it I end up realizing stuff I have never realized before, and every single time I find myself relating to another character. This time it was Abed. I believe its mostly because as I got older I got weirder as one does(hope I am not the only one) and watching him being the weirdest, cutest character ever written in a show made me appreciate his character more.
So I decided as a person who doesn't love movies a lot(was always a bookworm my whole life) I decided to watch every movie that was referenced by Abed, or was referenced in a way in the show and I wanted to share the list with you guys if any other person here wants to do the same thing.
Now the list is not mine, I found it on Youtube, you can find the video yourself on Youtube if you search for "Community and its Movie References Side by Side". Great video, you should definitely check it out if you haven't seen it yet. Made me appreciate the show even more.
Most of the movies referenced are really well known, actually almost all of them are, but still it looks like a great watchlist even if you have already seen them all.

Yet Another Season 4 Post What is your favorite part about season 4?
I have watched the show a billion times and season 4 was underwhelming (in comparison to the previous 3) but I REALLY love the dynamic between Abed and Rachel. We got Rachel back in season 5 and after that it was over. Wished she had been around a couple more episodes but understandable she wasn’t.
What do you like about season 4?

Discussion Which season 6 inclusion did you prefer: Franky or Elroy?
Technically Franky's actress was already in Season 5, and Elroy's actor had made a voice over in season 3 or sth... but I mean them joining tje group.

Discussion The Meowmeowbeenz rating system
In the MeowMeowBeenz episode, during the demonstration, the dean (who didn’t have any prior ratings) got 5 Beenz from Bixel, immediately effective. Then, after the 2-Beenz rating from David, it drops to 3.5.
When Jeff entered the app to compete with Shirley, just after saying “girls are objects”, you see him being happy about going from 1 to 2 MeowMeowBeenz. Later on, Shirley is notified that Jeff has become a 4.
Does this mean many users gave him a 1-Beenz rating at first? I’d expect him to go up to 4 or 5 Beenz pretty fast, but it seems he has to work his way up from a 1?

Discussion Does Repilot feel “off” to anyone else?
Recently doing a rewatch with my GF, and viewing the show alongside her has kind of changed my perspective on things. I didn’t really remember much of Season 4 other than how much I would hear about people hating it and how S5 calls it the “gas leak”. I remember watching the first few episodes and skipping the rest on my first watch through cause everyone painted it out to be abysmal.
This time though, I watched the whole thing with my girlfriend, and while the first three or four episodes were definitely duds, it kind of felt like episode 5 onwards was pretty good? Maybe some pacing issues but otherwise seemed on par with other seasons? The finale had a good premise but felt super rushed, but I appreciated how much the characters had grown, no one felt that out of character, and it felt like they had done a decent job resolving the Chang scenario (cause seriously, how else could they bring him back after the insane escalation of Season 3?) and it felt like they sort of left things on a fairly clean slate for a possible season 5, despite being a so so finale.
With all that in mind, rewatching Repilot with the full context of S4 changed my opinion on it. My girlfriend pointed out that it felt mean spirited and sort of regressed all of the characters even further back than Season 3. Especially Shirley! They erased pretty much all of her development and then really don’t do anything with her.
Jeff feels like he’s back to Season 1, which the S4 finale was already about him not being like that anymore! Chang is an asshole again and says he confessed to his crimes, which makes zero sense because the show already established in Season 3 that the Dean and the school board were going to cover it up anyways. Repilot doesn’t even feel like it’s “fixing” Season 4, it feels like it’s trying to reset things entirely, even undoing things that Harmon himself had overseen!
I understand Harmon was peeved about getting kicked from the show (though it sounds like he was kind of awful BTS) but it feels almost petulant and needlessly cruel. Season 4, despite having some duds, really did not leave the characters in such a bad place that necessitated flipping the table over so completely. It feels like a talented writer like Harmon could pretty easily have just built on it and steered it in a tighter direction, rather than throwing the baby out with the bath water.
Am I in the minority here? This rewatch, Repilot just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Discussion Every Episode Ranked!
Just finished my second rewatch of the show and I ranked every episode! Here are my top and bottom 8 and a link to the full list. Based on average placement, my season ranking is 2, 3, 1, 5, 6, 4 (makes sense) and my favorites from every season are Modern Warfare, Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas, Remedial Chaos Theory, Intro to Knots, Geothermal Escapism, and Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television.
